Hey Pravus! Love your videos man. Did you see the new game Ndemic made? Its called After Inc. and is about rebuilding civilization after the necrovirus destroys the world. It plays similar to Rebel inc, and has resource management. Its also surprisingly hard.
Surviving Mars?? Love it! It's so much fun. Go Pravus go, and hello from the middle of Canada! ...Those dust devils are MEAN and terrifying. I mean, okay, that tech is going to help out a LOT with the cables and pipes not developing leaks. But still. Also, I love meteor storms. Except when they hit in exactly the wrong place early in a playthrough.
I've always really liked this games hexagon tile building mechanics (and by extension UI styling) and the atmospheric dusty world look. It has a high "if it looks right it is right" value.
I'll be honest, I thought this particular scenario was going to involve Pravus, our Divine Lord and Savior, wanting us, his -expendable- *loyal* acolytes to play and post our results on the Discord Server.
Nice! A new Surviving Mars series! Though kind of sad to hear it will be the last one, I get that you've pretty much done every challenge the game has to throw at you. I think the cult having 200 applicants kind of makes sense; while a National program isn't going to send up more than a tiny fraction of 1% of their population, a small but highly dedicated group would reach closer to 100% of the members wanting to go up.

Comments on balance. I like the balance of the mod overall. It is a relatively hard challenge. Smallish regular tithes will make it easier to get around urgent rare resource pinches, and as always the temple building tends to negate sanity as a game element. In fact it's possible to run colonists on exterior buildings overnight shift on hard workloads during a dust storm and still they will be fine so long as they get into the temple now and then. Sanity recovery for that building if it's the same as the church of the new ark temple is a bit unbalanced. Like 90 to 100 sanity recovery per visit. So that negates disasters a bit. The pure luck of getting superior pipes also negates most of the scary part of a dust storm too but that is just this game. Overall I would try it if you published it and consider it similar but perhaps slightly easier than church of the new ark due to Tithes. Looking forwards to see what happens later on due to your event coding! That could change a lot!
Without trying to backseat, but please cover your base in scrubbers this game. They can scrub each other so the only maintenance you end up with are in-dome buildings

I was thinking that there's a Minecraft mod pack that would be perfect for Provus to play through, and no, it's not Tekkit. It's All the Mods 9, and I say this because, with his evil cult persona that he tends to play and his love of city-builder gameplay, there are two a few mods in the pack that would be perfect for him. The first of these (one for the evil cult thing) is quite literally Evilcraft, where you use blood magic to make and power stuff (I haven't played much of the mod yet, but Sjin did a beginner's walkthrough in his Enchant the World series). Another (also for the evil theme) is the Occultism mod, which has the player making bargains with demons and other extradimensional beings besides residents of the End and the Nether to get resources. The third mod I can think of right away is MineColonies (this one isn't about the evil theme), which will add a city-builder aspect to the game. There's also ProjectE in the pack, a slightly nerfed version of the Equivalent Exchange mod that was Provus' main source of resources in the old Tekkit series. I'm not saying this is something to do right away (especially with a second baby on the way), but I was thinking that this kind of playthrough would be on-brand for Provus on all aspects of his content.

Suggestion for another new mod/playthrough. Prison Mars- aka New Australia You're a Space Warden now. Not that you volunteered or anything. It basically was a choice between joining your old wards on earth or Mars as Warden of a new prison. Earth figured it was a way to get rid of dissidents and criminal leaders. And the odd political problem child. Yes even celebrities who were found to be on the Naughty List. Benefit - social controls are cheaper by 30% You get 10 officers for free. And 3 security prefabs. Also 10 initial prisoners of which you have zero control over. You get a free Rehab Spire. No one dares talk about what goes on in there. People go in and come out changed. Different. Removes flaws, including Rebel/criminal. But lowers sanity by 20% per flaw corrected. Initial draft is upto 22 (10 are free, see prisoner pods). You get a prison and warden dome prefab (and spire) . Warden dome houses officers and staff, & staff support. Prechecked to not allow prisoners & rebels to ever enter. Prison dome has 3 security tower and reeducation spire to start. You have 15-20 sols to prepare to receive prisoners. You should get a mission to prepare a dome for families of prisoners that will arrive in 5 to 10 sols after first prisoners arrive. Familes will have access to prison dome but not vice versa. Will need 1 security station at tunnel exit. Every 10 sols you get a shipment of 50 food. And 10 essentials. If food self efficient, you can opt for electronics, polymers, and mech parts. Prisoners cant work high tech jobs outside dome or have them in dome. Support, services, studies (school/university etc) buildings are allowed. Choices are work or visit the spire. Only the flawless can move out and into better domes/family domes. No one on earth cares if they die or crack up. Spire has ability to evacuate a dome if need be. Can't riot if no air. Suggest sanity enhancing buildings or spires in other domes to keep them from reoffending. Every 5 to 10 sols you get new prisoners from Earth. Even if you don't have room for them. Earth doesn't care. You may initiate trades with rivals anytime after for their rebels or flawed. Initially you'll have 1:1 security with prisoners. Later? Hope your onsite training is up to par. You're expected to be self-sufficient by sol 25. The freebies from earth may stop at anytime after sol 100. The prisoners? Nope. The prison pods and rockets won't stop. If you volunteer to take more prisoners you can get a free resupply pod at that time Every shipment of rares to earth (only 20 million per unit) will get you 10% in supplies back in a free pod.) Lucky for you, automated mining, extraction and processing of waste rock are techs you start with. Also outside ranching, farming, and mushroom. Want to run them, you'll have to rehab prisoners, or hire them from earth. ie Colonists cost 5 million each to hire. Hire as many as you want and can support. That is until the secret of the Spire gets out. Then it's prisoners only. No research from sponsors, though in lieu of a free resupply pod (presets) you can get a free minor outsourcing science boost) You get x research per prisoner pod you accept. If you don't accept one, the other colonies may accept them. If not, they crash land somewhere. But you lose all benefits that'd follow for that batch of prisoners. Suggest pick out prison sites that making going easier. No more than 2/3 on events ( ie 2 at 2 one at 3) and all resources at 3 plus. Your success is based on prisoners rehabbed, family domes, excess materiel you can send to earth or other colonies. Somehow adjust trade of goods for research so that other colonies would be interested. Your goods, their science. Can you take Earth's trash and make a successful colony? Or will you just work them until they die off? Once you have 2 prison domes, they must be sgregated by sex. You can allow interaction if you have a breeding program. Children must be raised in Officer country, or in a UN approved school dome. Children and youths can be traded to other colonies. But not until certain benchmarks are met. Discovery of such trade might end all Earth support. As will any war event on earth. You're screwed, prisoners and families are screwed too. Can you make New Australia work? Events suggested Celebrity prisoner(s) they come with family. They might bring resources and some money, but they often bring the wrong type of attention. Guru/genius - rebellion leader, many bad flaws he's willing to share. Also may kill other prisoners at random. (Solution is micro dome with solitary housing and it's Isolation tower. Service bots to prevent even your officersfrom getting infected) Test a medicine. Money payout. If you have your own scientists you can analyze it. Might turn some prisoners into martian zombies. Or enhance them in a positive way (opens tech for research). Good reason to have small prison domes. Only solution to zombies/mushroom plague/etc is dome evacuation and sterilization.) You'd lose all buildings inside, but be able to recycle most of it with drones. No worries. Earth will send you more scum and trash. Maybe the sponsor might boost some biotech costs (ie 10% bonus for max 50 sols) Note you sales and purchases from earth are company store prices until you establish good trade with other colonies. Special event with one that favors trade highly with you, may offer to help you redirect rare earth shipment to their sponsor at much better price and a one time research point bonus. (ie similar to when Australia opened trade with US and South America vs only being allowed to trade with England. ) (Heck this might be a Surviving Mars 2 game in its entirety now)😊 Other events crimelord, gang leader, notorious freedom or religious leader arrives in a scheduled pod. ( you get a notice on pod's launch. How you prepare to house them or even refuse them, is upto you as warden. ) note for angst alone pod or rocket could contain innocent families of other prisoners that opted to pay their way to New Australia to be with family member imprisoned there.) Or just be chock-full of prisoners the universe wouldnt miss. Basically you have 2 colonies in one. The prisons and security domes. And families and martian born descendants. ) Make it a success or not. Your replacement can be found on Earth just the same. New title to change from Starting Warden -> Warden Govenor once you achieve 4/5 milestones (one being 100 descendants and families on mars, the other are trade amount (earth/mars colonies) met, and x number of prisoners rehabbed. All reasearch more expensive, excepting social as noted above and Biotech (once that event happens) Initial transport and supplies to start prison is set. After that it's company store prices on resupply, other than scheduled supply pods. Anyone add to this possible mod? Probably take a few sponsors to make it worthwhile to make. Probably the community.
Another mod. Escape! Three rockets aim for Mars to escape Armageddon on earth. In retaliation to remote mars attacks, a series of asteroids were tossed at earth. First rocket aims to claim a destroyed colony as their haven. 3 to 5 failed colonial sites with different domes and buildings surviving. Some might have operational drones and service bots that might defend sites. At the cost of some of your own drones. If you chose right career for governor, you might be able to reprogram them and benefit. Choose the wrong one, and it'll be a biotech nightmare for your following colonists. But that site is the most intact and self sufficient. There are no other working colonies, heck living people on Mars. The new oppressive world order made sure of that, via sabotage and outright genocide via viral and germ warfare. Nukes(radiation), rocks, biologicals...are all problems in the ruins left on mars. The biggest and best, got the harshest treatment. Others were left to wither on the vine. Pick a starting site and land. Make it as ready as you can in time to receive second rocket. (Founders, but already picked out) 22 colonists (each with a drone) This rocket and first can be broken down into set components and prefabs (O2/water/moxie/drone hubs x2 , O2 storage and water storage, one farm (prefab outside) and housing prefab). Third rocket arrives 5 sols later and contains 12 children, 6 youths, and 4 adults. This rocket can't be broken down. But can be converted with parts of first 2 into more housing a nursery and school, as well as two Mars Hoppers. Basically larger and reusable pods for missions on mars. Mars scan tech research will reveal status of destroyed and failed colonies. One should have working, but irradiated, spaceport where you can build a faster interstellar rocket for the Earth Mars circuit. Or even asteroid belt. If either built (earth mars rescue and scan earth missions can take place. These last 10 sols, so automation, upgrade drones and drone AI would be needed. Or biotech stasis pods (new tech discovered in a lost colony). Science, scavenging, rescue of survivors (stasis pods needed, these folks will be all sorts of fucked up), or orbital salvage. Perhaps even stopping the third wave of asteroids aimed at earth and recapturing the for your own use. Or destroying them after mining everything you can take. Later on, you can also send hoppers to colony ruins. If scanned and have probes. You can determine danger levels. Biotechnology needed to process samples and find cures (martian zombies, anyone? Reuse tech from New Australia Prison mod above?) Radiation zones - mostly intact (atmosphere was too thin to propagate blastwaves very well, and these folks had MDS tech to stop missiles...mostly, but not so much individual warheads) So lingering radiation is a problem. After 100 sols it should at half the danger. 200 sols at 25% original. Decontech or just building a reprocesor on site and manning with drones (will need resupplies) would allow some resource extraction from ruins. If you have fab/refab you can breakdown buildings for decon and reuse. Bio-decon should be a late add on in biotech tree. Radiation decon in terraforming. Security drones, scavenger drones, and decon drones should be in robotics. Disposable for safety. Objective of mod- survive and prosper recovery of as many colony sites as possible. Rescue seeds, animals, and people from earth. Terraform mars, fix damage, prepare a rescue Earth mission and hunt down nwo criminals who you discover had stasis stasis tech.

Ranches are the best early max difficulty because it does not require specialist so no work penalty and require less water

I was thinking that there's a Minecraft mod pack that would be perfect for Provus to play through, and no, it's not Tekkit. It's All the Mods 9, and I say this because, with his evil cult persona that he tends to play and his love of city-builder gameplay, there are two a few mods in the pack that would be perfect for him. The first of these (one for the evil cult thing) is quite literally Evilcraft, where you use blood magic to make and power stuff (I haven't played much of the mod yet, but Sjin did a beginner's walkthrough in his Enchant the World series). Another (also for the evil theme) is the Occultism mod, which has the player making bargains with demons and other extradimensional beings besides residents of the End and the Nether to get resources. The third mod I can think of right away is MineColonies (this one isn't about the evil theme), which will add a city-builder aspect to the game. There's also ProjectE in the pack, a slightly nerfed version of the Equivalent Exchange mod that was Provus' main source of resources in the old Tekkit series. I'm not saying this is something to do right away (especially with a second baby on the way), but I was thinking that this kind of playthrough would be on-brand for Provus on all aspects of his content.

Suggestion for another new mod/playthrough.
Prison Mars- aka New Australia
You're a Space Warden now.
Not that you volunteered or anything. It basically was a choice between joining your old wards on earth or Mars as Warden of a new prison.
Earth figured it was a way to get rid of dissidents and criminal leaders.
And the odd political problem child.
Yes even celebrities who were found to be on the Naughty List.
Benefit - social controls are cheaper by 30%
You get 10 officers for free. And 3 security prefabs.
Also 10 initial prisoners of which you have zero control over.
You get a free Rehab Spire. No one dares talk about what goes on in there. People go in and come out changed. Different.
Removes flaws, including Rebel/criminal. But lowers sanity by 20% per flaw corrected.
Initial draft is upto 22 (10 are free, see prisoner pods).
You get a prison and warden dome prefab (and spire) .
Warden dome houses officers and staff, & staff support. Prechecked to not allow prisoners & rebels to ever enter.
Prison dome has 3 security tower and reeducation spire to start.
You have 15-20 sols to prepare to receive prisoners.
You should get a mission to prepare a dome for families of prisoners that will arrive in 5 to 10 sols after first prisoners arrive.
Familes will have access to prison dome but not vice versa. Will need 1 security station at tunnel exit.
Every 10 sols you get a shipment of 50 food. And 10 essentials. If food self efficient, you can opt for electronics, polymers, and mech parts.
Prisoners cant work high tech jobs outside dome or have them in dome.
Support, services, studies (school/university etc) buildings are allowed. Choices are work or visit the spire.
Only the flawless can move out and into better domes/family domes.
No one on earth cares if they die or crack up.
Spire has ability to evacuate a dome if need be. Can't riot if no air.
Suggest sanity enhancing buildings or spires in other domes to keep them from reoffending.
Every 5 to 10 sols you get new prisoners from Earth.
Even if you don't have room for them.
Earth doesn't care.
You may initiate trades with rivals anytime after for their rebels or flawed.
Initially you'll have 1:1 security with prisoners. Later? Hope your onsite training is up to par.
You're expected to be self-sufficient by sol 25.
The freebies from earth may stop at anytime after sol 100.
The prisoners? Nope.
The prison pods and rockets won't stop.
If you volunteer to take more prisoners you can get a free resupply pod at that time
Every shipment of rares to earth (only 20 million per unit) will get you 10% in supplies back in a free pod.)
Lucky for you, automated mining, extraction and processing of waste rock are techs you start with.
Also outside ranching, farming, and mushroom.
Want to run them, you'll have to rehab prisoners, or hire them from earth.
ie Colonists cost 5 million each to hire. Hire as many as you want and can support.
That is until the secret of the Spire gets out.
Then it's prisoners only.
No research from sponsors, though in lieu of a free resupply pod (presets) you can get a free minor outsourcing science boost)
You get x research per prisoner pod you accept.
If you don't accept one, the other colonies may accept them.
If not, they crash land somewhere.
But you lose all benefits that'd follow for that batch of prisoners.
Suggest pick out prison sites that making going easier. No more than 2/3 on events ( ie 2 at 2 one at 3) and all resources at 3 plus.
Your success is based on prisoners rehabbed, family domes, excess materiel you can send to earth or other colonies.
Somehow adjust trade of goods for research so that other colonies would be interested. Your goods, their science.
Can you take Earth's trash and make a successful colony?
Or will you just work them until they die off?
Once you have 2 prison domes, they must be sgregated by sex.
You can allow interaction if you have a breeding program.
Children must be raised in Officer country, or in a UN approved school dome.
Children and youths can be traded to other colonies.
But not until certain benchmarks are met.
Discovery of such trade might end all Earth support.
As will any war event on earth.
You're screwed, prisoners and families are screwed too.
Can you make New Australia work?
Events suggested
Celebrity prisoner(s) they come with family. They might bring resources and some money, but they often bring the wrong type of attention.
Guru/genius - rebellion leader, many bad flaws he's willing to share. Also may kill other prisoners at random. (Solution is micro dome with solitary housing and it's Isolation tower. Service bots to prevent even your officersfrom getting infected)
Test a medicine. Money payout. If you have your own scientists you can analyze it.
Might turn some prisoners into martian zombies. Or enhance them in a positive way (opens tech for research). Good reason to have small prison domes. Only solution to zombies/mushroom plague/etc is dome evacuation and sterilization.)
You'd lose all buildings inside, but be able to recycle most of it with drones.
No worries. Earth will send you more scum and trash. Maybe the sponsor might boost some biotech costs (ie 10% bonus for max 50 sols)
Note you sales and purchases from earth are company store prices until you establish good trade with other colonies.
Special event with one that favors trade highly with you, may offer to help you redirect rare earth shipment to their sponsor at much better price and a one time research point bonus.
(ie similar to when Australia opened trade with US and South America vs only being allowed to trade with England. )

Other events crimelord, gang leader, notorious freedom or religious leader arrives in a scheduled pod.
( you get a notice on pod's launch. How you prepare to house them or even refuse them, is upto you as warden. ) note for angst alone pod or rocket could contain innocent families of other prisoners that opted to pay their way to New Australia to be with family member imprisoned there.) Or just be chock-full of prisoners the universe wouldnt miss.
Basically you have 2 colonies in one. The prisons and security domes. And families and martian born descendants. )
Make it a success or not. Your replacement can be found on Earth just the same.
New title to change from Starting Warden -> Warden Govenor once you achieve 4/5 milestones (one being 100 descendants and families on mars, the other are trade amount (earth/mars colonies) met, and x number of prisoners rehabbed.
All reasearch more expensive, excepting social as noted above and Biotech (once that event happens)
Initial transport and supplies to start prison is set. After that it's company store prices on resupply, other than scheduled supply pods.

Probably take a few sponsors to make it worthwhile to make. Probably the community.

Escape! Three rockets aim for Mars to escape Armageddon on earth. In retaliation to remote mars attacks, a series of asteroids were tossed at earth.
First rocket aims to claim a destroyed colony as their haven.
3 to 5 failed colonial sites with different domes and buildings surviving.
Some might have operational drones and service bots that might defend sites. At the cost of some of your own drones.
If you chose right career for governor, you might be able to reprogram them and benefit.
Choose the wrong one, and it'll be a biotech nightmare for your following colonists. But that site is the most intact and self sufficient.
There are no other working colonies, heck living people on Mars. The new oppressive world order made sure of that, via sabotage and outright genocide via viral and germ warfare. Nukes(radiation), rocks, biologicals...are all problems in the ruins left on mars.
The biggest and best, got the harshest treatment. Others were left to wither on the vine.
Pick a starting site and land.
Make it as ready as you can in time to receive second rocket. (Founders, but already picked out)
22 colonists (each with a drone)
This rocket and first can be broken down into set components and prefabs (O2/water/moxie/drone hubs x2 , O2 storage and water storage, one farm (prefab outside) and housing prefab).
Third rocket arrives 5 sols later and contains 12 children, 6 youths, and 4 adults. This rocket can't be broken down. But can be converted with parts of first 2 into more housing a nursery and school, as well as two Mars Hoppers.
Basically larger and reusable pods for missions on mars.
Mars scan tech research will reveal status of destroyed and failed colonies.
One should have working, but irradiated, spaceport where you can build a faster interstellar rocket for the Earth Mars circuit. Or even asteroid belt.
If either built (earth mars rescue and scan earth missions can take place. These last 10 sols, so automation, upgrade drones and drone AI would be needed.
Or biotech stasis pods (new tech discovered in a lost colony).
Science, scavenging, rescue of survivors (stasis pods needed, these folks will be all sorts of fucked up), or orbital salvage.
Perhaps even stopping the third wave of asteroids aimed at earth and recapturing the for your own use. Or destroying them after mining everything you can take.
Later on, you can also send hoppers to colony ruins.
If scanned and have probes. You can determine danger levels.
Biotechnology needed to process samples and find cures (martian zombies, anyone? Reuse tech from New Australia Prison mod above?)
Radiation zones - mostly intact (atmosphere was too thin to propagate blastwaves very well, and these folks had MDS tech to stop missiles...mostly, but not so much individual warheads)
So lingering radiation is a problem.
After 100 sols it should at half the danger. 200 sols at 25% original.
Decontech or just building a reprocesor on site and manning with drones (will need resupplies) would allow some resource extraction from ruins.
If you have fab/refab you can breakdown buildings for decon and reuse.
Bio-decon should be a late add on in biotech tree.
Radiation decon in terraforming.
Security drones, scavenger drones, and decon drones should be in robotics.
Disposable for safety.
Objective of mod- survive and prosper recovery of as many colony sites as possible.
Rescue seeds, animals, and people from earth.
Terraform mars, fix damage, prepare a rescue Earth mission and hunt down nwo criminals who you discover had stasis stasis tech.
