    Hi Everyone!
    So this is my video on how to get an A in physics. I have currently taken two physics classes and received an A in both. (I know I mentioned in the video that I have only taken one class and was currently in the other class but I made this video a couple weeks ago. So now Im done with the class and received an A. Hopefully that clears up any confusion) Also what i mean by "physics series" at my school I have to take 3 physics class which make up a series. So I have currently taken two of them and this quarter I will be taking the last one. Any ways what I said in the video is exactly what I did i my classes to receive an A. Remember it does take time to learn the concepts like any class Im sure you guys have taken. Hopefully you guys can implement my techniques and incorporate some into your own studying routine. I am in no way one bragging nor two telling you this is the absolute only way to receive an A in physics. Everyone has their own way of studying and many of them are successful. Im just helping those who need a place to start studying that is all :) Thanks for watching my video and I hope this helps. Make sure to leave comments below telling me your thoughts as well.

    The best way to get an A in physics is this:
    1) Read your text book and take notes from the readings the day before your physics lecture over that subject. Come prepared to class with questions about anything you don't understand.
    2) Go to class. If you don't go to class you won't pass physics, or will have a low grade.
    3) If there's anything you don't understand still after lecture, attend your professor's office hours. Most likely, you will want to start working through your homework as this is where your understanding will prove to be solid, or it might need some cleaning up. If it needs cleaning up and you're having problems with the homework, go to office hours.
    4) Solving problems, like math or physics, requires practice. Repetition is your best friend. Learn the methods to solving them, and eventually you will see patterns and make connections between given information in test and homework problems because you have solving many similar problems before the exam or test.
    If you do all of these to your best, I'm confident anybody can get an A or B in physics.

      that's time-consuming... there is around 12 hrs of work.. you have 4+ classes (lectures and study time) if you're lucky you will have "me time"

      Well I had a surgery, so I couldn’t go to class for 2,5 month. I missed a lot, a test also. I feel a lot better so now I need to make the test, but the next month so I have a lot of time. The problem is I have to do this al by myself. So you basically saying just don’t even try? I have a website where a men basically “teach” every subject of physics. I though maybe it could be like class.

    Stop saying "memorize". Physics isn't about memorizing. It's about understanding concepts and ideas, then using that knowledge to solve problems.

    • @HeavenEdit
      @HeavenEdit 8 лет назад +32

      +Ryan Smith Right there mate. She has no fucking idea what she is talking about. This makes me so angry. People like her usually just cheat their fucking way through the education system by memorizing every piece of information and just playing it back when required.

    • @jugglingisgreat
      @jugglingisgreat 8 лет назад +23

      +Heaven Anyone with any knowledge of Physics would know that memorizing will get you nowhere in the subject. She clearly knows nothing about the subject.

      ***** Exactly.

    • @spicyhoufun

      +Ryan Smith How do you know the answer to 1+1? Do you understand it? Do you think about the concepts in your head? Unless you wrote the book sized thesis on why 1+1=2, you do not understand it. You are memorizing this fact from learning it as a young child. So yes, all the knowledge you know now is stored in your memory, even the concepts you strive to understand.

    • @HeavenEdit
      @HeavenEdit 8 лет назад +7

      tashahou That doesn't relate to the subject at all. Everyone knows 1+1=2. Basic arithmetic is something every knows and memorizes because it is intuitive that's why we use it. If I asked you how to calculate the speed of an object after (gravitational) acceleration (which is easy as well), you would rather get to it by logical thinking: "Ah alright, this object O is accelerated for 1s with 1/m/s^2 that's why it's speed is 1 m/s after 1 s. Because the speed of the object increases proportionally "(Although this is in some way intuitive as well). I'm sure this woman would not have the same approach. She would try to make a "learning sheet" for it haha. Understanding is key.

    my problem is that I can do all the homework assignments and follow along easily in class, but in exams the questions are not like the homework and its about applying your knowledge which I'm weak at in math related subjects. I also get anxiety about the labs often cause I never know what I'm doing half the time even when I try and prepare

    • @meganp8766
      @meganp8766 6 лет назад +1

      Cleo Lau you can't really say that. Because intelligence is defined as "the capacity of... understanding". That being said your definition is too broad. And if I have to be honest, I took that kind of personally because (if I'm being honest), I'm not so good at physics. So when you said Physics is about understanding and I making that parallel connection between previous knowledge about the definition of "intelligence" , it made me feel as though I'm not intelligent. Which I would assume is natural because if physics is about (as you said), "understanding" and intelligence is defined as "the capacity of understanding" amongst many things. But yah, I'm not saying this to make you feel bad. I obviously need help in physics if I looked up and am watching this video. I'm just pointing that out so you could make your answer less broad. Because I'm pretty sure if physics was about "understanding" then the definition of intelligence and physics would be related. Which could be the case, but not everyone who understands stands physics is intelligent and not everyone who doesn't understand physics is not intelligent and know (but that too differs based off of personal understanding and ideas of why intelligence is). Any whooo, please be more specific.

    Gabby Aikawa: "How to Get an A in Physics"
    1. 1:00 Make your formula sheet (If it sucks, make a new one throughout the course). Be familiar with it.
    2. 2:08 Colour code and bold notes for better memorization.
    3. 2:34 Do homework problems over and over. (most important step). Come back to homework questions you got wrong or found difficult.
    4. 7:05 Write down which equation you are using whenever you are doing homework questions for better memorization.
    5. 8:07 Keep track of variables (ex. 'v' could stand for either volume or velocity)
    6. 8:27 Know your units.
    Tip: Your formula sheet is just an aid. You need to know where which formula must be used, otherwise you won't get it. Practice, Practice, Practice!!
    You're welcome.

    • @rmsvideos1335
      @rmsvideos1335 8 лет назад +3

      ***** obviously f=ma can be memorized.. but you don't memorize derivations of equations or every form of an equation for every single type of problem. then you are just a machine with no analytical skills. my teachers don't even have the vast majority of equations that they TEACH memorized, they derive them on the spot when someone asks a quesiton about them

    • @rmsvideos1335
      @rmsvideos1335 8 лет назад +2

      That works for one aspect of a physics 1 class, have fun memorizing once you get to modern physics and later classes. You will either understand nothing because you waste your time memorizing everything, or you will fail.

    People DO NOT TAKE Calculus and Physics together!!! It's a bad idea! Take Calculus first. Calculus is a very difficult class and requires a lot of time in order to get A. It's not your ordinary math class. Physics is even harder. Perhaps, the school she went to is easier than most so don't underestimate these classes. I go to a very good science school that has a tough, rigorous science program and what she's talking about made me laugh. Physics or any other science class is not about memorization! You have to understand the concepts from inside out in order to do well or even pass!

    • @MultiWilliam15
      @MultiWilliam15 6 лет назад +1

      It's fine for some people but it's definitely not the best setup for the average person. I'm currently enrolled in a top university in our country, and Physics majors take Elementary Analysis instead of calculus, which is basically a mathematically rigorous version of calculus. For these physics students, they have no choice since elementary analysis is a co-requisite of their fundamental physics classes.

      I'm only on my second year of Pre-calc, and I'm taking AICE Physics. I took Pre-calc last year, now I'm taking AICE Math, like Pre-calc but you learn other parts of calc. Most people like me just do AICE Math and are now taking Calculus, I'm different in that I took another pre-calc, so I should be more prepared for calc.
      So, nobody has taken calculus unless they are a senior now. Welp, that explains why we're all being f-ed. Also, yeah, a totally new learning style and totally new content, unlike repeated classes like history.

    By "DO NOT MEMORIZE", most people on the comments section mean you only have to memorize the general equations, but not the derivations. If you really want a career in Engineering/Physics/Mathematics, understanding is your best option. That is because university level Physics will provide you a lot of setups such that each will make you derive a unique equation. These equations will only be derived if you truly understood what is implied in the setup. If you're a physics/engineering major and you're memorizing these 20+ equations derived from each item, consider memorizing 1000+ equations by the end of your undergraduate course. But seriously, I can't imagine someone memorizing all these equations, especially that most will involve some form of integration.

    I remember when I cared about the grades I got in school. But after finishing my undergrad and realizing that work is just plain not fun, I just take the courses that are in demand (courses I don't care about) on my own schedule. As long as I finish and get my graduate degree I could care less about the grade. I went from math to accounting. Sometimes I think I should have gone the engineering route, but by that time I already had like 5 years of accounting experience. Experience counts WAY more than grades in the work world.

    I'm self-studying I'm passionate about math and interested in physics, someone said Id need chemistry, biology and electronics background along with math, I started to self-teaching myself since 2018 and im doing good in math and If I study othere subjects othere than maths I said, but ill be 75 yr old or less, and I'm only interested in math and physics, so should I just stick to the math and physics?

    Actually physics is my worst subject.... I still don't understand this subject at all... I mean 8 only have to do one more year to go.... but I couldn't even do my homework bcuz I didn't know how...I kinda get the feeling that even if I put more effort in it I can't go over a D in my tests... :(

      Key things in physics is not to memorize equations, but finding your givens and what you have to find. So once you write that down, look through the equations you had been taught and find one where there is a variable that accounts for your missing value. If it has two, don’t use it or try and find that other unknown using another equation.

    Yeah just as a quick note, you’re also able to use google images for physics problems, it actually gives you the answer and how it’s solved for some at least. I did this for precal at the end of the semester and it helped a lot maybe it helps here too!

      I personally don't read the physics manual. I just read over my teacher's lecture notes and so far thats all Ive needed. I wouldn't say its a waste of time because a lot of people find the book to be very informative so if it works for you but if it doesn't I don't think its mandatory.

    my school offers a “Calculus Physics” class and everyone i’ve known who has taken it warned me to take calculus before physics because it was so hard. i did and it actually makes it somewhat easier to understand the questions. it’s still confusing, don’t get me wrong, but it’s kind of like you’ve already fought half the battle.

    Is physics mainly problems that you have to solve with math or like multiple choice questions that test concepts?

    • @tk13edm
      @tk13edm 6 лет назад

      Its a bit of both if I'm being honest. Like you will need to know certain concepts and what formula to use pertaining to that concept. Like if this happens, use this formula. If this is the situation, use this formula and solve this way, etc.

  • @antoniolee7330

    I wanted to take physics 1 and calculus 1 at the same time but I spoke with physics’ professor and he told me that I should be better off if I take it after calculus 2. Meaning that I should take physics 1 and calculus 3. He believes some concepts would be easier after calculus 2.

    I've taken college algebra, survey of calc, calc 1, statistics, gen chem 1 and 2, all sorts of math classes. I've never gotten below a 94 In any of those, until my algebra based physics 🤷🏻‍♂️. I consider myself relatively good at math, and most of the algebra in my physics is elementary and I could have done it in 6th grade (the math anyways). In college this has been the only class where I struggled right off the bat, and not cuz of my math, I think my brain just hates physics.... idk. I dont think it's abstract thinking even because my Ochem 1 and 2 course are both abstract as hell, and I passed both without a problem. I'm do all the readings, go to all the lectures, take additional peer study groups offered 50 min 3 times every week, go to every lab, do every homework assignment almost always in the physics help center, and review my weekly notes for each week. I'm starting to think my brain is hard wired against physics 🤔! Anyone else have a hard time with physics when you've excelled at every other college math and notoriously difficult college courses like Ochem 1 and 2? I'll take suggestions, cuz I need to do good 😂!

    You would be better served having taken Calculus before Physics....even though many colleges allow you to take them with each other (so you can graduate on time). But it's an issue when you are in physics and can't do derivatives.
