I dont care if it's Amy or any other person committing sin. Were all sinners and have fallen short of the Glory of God.Instead of condemning her i'm just praying that she truly has a repentant heart.

It was 1983 and "Age to Age" was the first Christian music cassette I ever bought. I must have played that cassette a million times over the next 10 or 12 years, until the tape wore out. Great music.

That's a very young Michael W. Smith on the piano. He was about 25 years old. Remember, the year is 1982-the same year we also lost dear brother Keith Green.

Why did Gary wipe off her kiss at 54:30 ?? Wow was this ever foreshadowing? I always felt bad for him, but this shows he apparently wasn't really into her and that he on some level resented her even way back then. As a newlywed, you'd think he'd plant a great big kiss on that beautiful woman. No wonder she never felt loved.

Amy Grant's marriage to her first husband, the drug and alcohol addicted Gary Chapman, was extremely unhappy long before she even met Vince Gill. (He kept his addictions secret until he married her.) She has never revealed the truth about the suffering she had to endure at the hands of Gary, for the sake of her 3 children by him. Hence she became the target of criticism in the Christian world. She said that one day the truth will be revealed, hence, she is content to stay silent. Gary Chapman was also extremely jealous of Amy's success.

Your entire argument is flawed; the reason millions of people connected with Amy Grant is the very fact that she was flawed, and repeatedly acknowledged that she wasn't perfect. She sang it in her songs: Faithless Heart, Cry A River, Shadows, even way back in the beginning, in the opening lines of Father's Eyes. That was her whole rhetoric; that NOBODY is perfect, yet we are ALL worthy of LOVE.
AND she never uttered a judgmental word about anybody; unlike yourself.
    Don't let hate fuel you.

Well Saints were flawed too according to scripture, so not sure why you felt you needed to shoot his statement down. I think what he was saying is that Amy dropped a seed of faith into him. In order to have the impact on people like she does, she would have had to have been led by the Holy Spirit.

People are human, we make mistakes for all those people that criticize christians. We are not made perfect. We will never be perfect but at least we are forgiven because Jesus died for our sins. When we are all gone into heaven and you are left here on earth I hope you remember these words. God loves everyone but we all have the freedom to make choices.

    Hi Everybody!
I was singing with the Meadowbrook Estate Ensemble at the Ren Cen when Amy Grant was next door at the Ford Auditorium with her Age to Age tour. I went thru the back stage entrance, past security and listened to her sound check before the concert.
She invited me back after my concert and hers and spoke with me at great length. At that time Michael W. Smith was her accompanist. Her songs greatly encouraged my faith and gave us young adults something 'hip' to listen to. Thank you Amy for putting yourself out there as a pioneer of contemporary music. I gave out at least 15 of Amy's Age to Age tapes for spreading the news of Christ and his love for all of us. I met her one more time at Meadow Brook Music Festival after her Unguarded Concert. Best wishes to her and her family.

God only knows Amy's heart now and then. I recall fondly how I had just had a spiritual awakening in the early 80's. I went to the Christian book stores to load up on Amy and her praise music. Just loved her music. I could sense even then that Amy was in it for the fame. You could tell very much that she was headed down the road to fame and fortune. I loved her music nonetheless. The lyrics were wonderful and good, but her life was headed on a collision course due in time. I didn't put all my faith in this singer as many followed her did, and when she fell from grace, I wasn't totally shocked but it hurt anyhow to see such a wonderfully blessed person could go from this to that (secular music not glorifying God). Not to be judgmental for God only sees the heart and motives of people in the spotlight. I believe they both (Amy and Gary) were sincere even though.

    • @nunyabizness6812
      @nunyabizness6812 6 лет назад +1

What a judgmental comment, "Judy Scott." How dare you accuse her of being 'after fame'? And many have described fame as the 'most powerful drug in the world.' Because it can be heady to have lots of people praising you, clapping for you, crying and singing along with you."

    • @lulu5803
      @lulu5803 6 лет назад +3

She didn't "fall from Grace" though. She's as saved today as she was when she first confessed Jesus as her saviour as far as anyone besides Amy and God know. Anyone who puts their faith in an earthly person is bound for disappointment. Stop doing God's job. He's got this.

I've been a fan of Amy Grant before I was a Christian, while I was a Christian, and after I left Christianity.
She isn't a phenomenal singer by any means, but she has a unique and genuine voice that can make any ear listen.
Give her a good song to sing, she'll turn it into a hit. Give her a good Christmas song to sing, radio stations would prefer her version over another.
Why did I leave Christianity? It's a long story..
Some will say that I wasn't even saved to begin with.. Lol. When you finally leave Christianity, Christians will say the same thing about you.
The kicker is this.. Many of you will be offended and or "saddened" that I left the trillion dollar ponzi scheme religion of Christianity..
But I will leave you all with this: Amy Grant has endured much trash talk from many of you all because of a fictional fairy tale.. So sometime in the future, in another reincarnated life, you will not remember any of this. Thank Jesus Francisco Rodriguez Jr.

*Thank you for posting this early concert - stuff like this is **_really_** hard to find!*
*I discovered Amy Grant in 1984/1985 - incredibly, it was the favored music of the 18 year olds working for me (at local theatre).*
*I was pretty shocked that at the peak of "Punk Rock", **_this_+ was what our kids were listening to! I was also _glad_** as it allowed me to "OK" their playing of music at low volume while they were working - I didn't have to play the big baddie who banned music at work! After hearing her various albums (they brought them all in, and played them pretty much all day, with a smattering of Windham Hill [George Winston] thrown in), I actually went out and bought them all for my home music collection! I was likely the only middle ager listening to grant at that time in her career - and she's been with me ever since.*
*My only issue with Grant was when she decided to switch from her faith based material to more secular "pop music": ahe broke my heart when she went off the rails into secular crap music. She never completely returned to her roots, but she came close after a roughly deacde-long break. Once that break was over, I was back on board with her, and I'm still here today, almost 35 years after I first heard her beautiful voice.*
*Considering I'm not a religious guy, it's interesting that I always found her early music felt, literally, like a religious experience! She was so joined into her faith and its expression, that it came right through the speakers and landed right on top of your heart!*
*Again, thank you for posting this treasure!*

It's so sad that in recent video it is clear that she had a LOT of plastic surgery done, and for what purpose I can't even imagine. She's not one of the famous "Fails" of Plastics, but she **_is_** totally different looking: still very pretty, but without the innocent, no-makeup, wondrous look she started with (first time I saw it, it absolutely **_ruined_** my day).*

What a great entertainer Amy is..puts her whole heart in it.. naturally. Gary's voice is Amazing and full & like Amy says he was one of the best song writers of that day,...but his voice is not like that anymore, nor the deep quality in his writing like before. I pray He finds it all once again. I love the band and back up singers amazing voices! I think...when we are Born with gifts....then when we make mistakes that effect those gifts values...we lose the power it was meant to keep forever. Where as those who did not have that exactly but they live up to the lights given them that their gifts can get better. God giveth and He taketh away. Every word...every step we take matters.

I still have my Strait Ahead tour shirt from when I was 18 years old when she came to Houston. I am 52 now and I still listen to all of her songs, even the secular ones! 4 weeks ago I should have been dead in a horrific car accident wrapped around a tree , and I am literally being pieced back together very painfully. God has given me a second chance and I don't want to take it for granted.

Well, yeawhooo, it's funny how such an "adulterous" woman has been so instrumental in bringing back to the faith and the Lord's word. You can nitpick her behavior and tell us how she doesn't measure up, but for me, she was exactly who and what I needed when I was living a terrible life. So, for me, Amy was God's gift to me and I am grateful for her contribution to my life.

I got introduced to Amy Grant while I was in AIT (Aug-Oct 1985) at Fort Sam Houston Texas to be a Combat Medic. On Sundays, several of us left to attend church off post when we were allowed to leave. Chuck Twitchell who was a SPC-5 at the beginning of school and was later moved up to SGT had Amy Grant on tape and we would listen to her. Got me hooked on her.

People seem to forget that Gary Chapman was a drug addict and alcoholic who also mistreated her since the beginning of their marriage. Why the hell should a woman stay with a guy who obviously didn't behave like a christian? The light can't have communion with the dark. I say that she did well to dump that dude. Everybody deserves happiness and she withstood 17 years of an abusive marriage. I hope Vince and her keep happy.

I agree 100%. She stayed TOO LONG in a very unhappy marriage where she was being emotionally abused at minimum. SO-called "Christians" criticized her for getting a divorce after she did everything she possible could and many years of prayer and counseling to save a doomed marriage.

Exactly!

54:40 Amy Grant: "People could not tell if you know something, just by looking at you, but they can tell if you love them or not, just by looking at you. Jezus said: "The world would see that i'm with you, if you love one another (Jn 13:35)" ".
