I watched somebody make donuts on RUclips and it was at that moment I got a revelation to try the frozen rolls in my freezer. I wasn't about to do all that waiting around for 6 donuts.
Then, I realized I could shortcut even more with a can of biscuits. 🤣
I don't do dairy, so this was my solution after 3 years of missing donuts.

Can you explain where they went wrong in the first steps? How were they supposed to make it foam?
@@amberleysmith7158 The foaming of the yeast is to prove that is alive and activated. It's not necessarily something they could have made happen (unless they used sugar for the yeast to eat). From the way the milk was steaming, it might have been too hot and killed the yeast. Usually yeast foams within a minute- even in small bubbles.

it was definitely the first step! I was yelling at my computer to tell y’all 😂 the milk may have been to hot and killed the yeast or it was simply too cold in the room. normally for proofing dough is put in an oven or microwave when the room is cold

If they're using active dry yeast, they have to 'proof' it before incorporating it with the dry & wet ingredients. That's what they suppose to be doing but the milk's temp is too high, so they killed the yeast. That's why it didn't foam up. 😂😭🤦🏽

Okay, so yeast is a living thing. It is happy to be stored in cool dark non-oxygenated places until needed. When you open the package or contain, you should see it dance a little as it reacts to oxygen exposure. You immediately add it to the liquid that is as warm as you can stand it to the touch, because hot or scalding will kill it. Leaving it exposed to light for more than a 30 seconds will kill it, and leaving it exposed to oxygen and allowed to reach room temperature will kill it. (And it likes to beat with a whisk for 2 mins)
