I agree with her on Diana. The Princess of Wales did not have a strong basis on which to build a wholistic, strong life. Her parents were self absorbed and largely ignored her. Idk how a child can grow up in an environment like that

In April 2018 her daughter's former partner alleged that the Princess had owned a pair of black sheep that she named after Venus and Serena Williams. A spokesperson refused to comment on the story.
Fun fact : Queen Elizabeth said she's too grand for the British royal family as her ancestory went upto nobles of the 1200s and connected with most European royal families
Oh dear - I am rather disappointed that Princess Michael chose to psychoanalyse both the late Princess Diana as well as the currently living Sarah, Duchess of York.
Sense of duty is most definitely as prominent now as it's ever been. There are STILL people out here as loyal to their calling as the day they realised it. However, today this seems more prominent in everyday lives than that of the aristocracy. Valid point of observation.
Mountbatten was such a matchmaker he had his nose in so many people's dating lives. I didn't know this. That's hilarious. He set up the queen, he tried to set up Prince Charles, he set up these guys. So funny😀
I think HRH Princess Michael had a love-hate relationship with Diana, Princess of Wales. She may have had some level of catiness with the late Diana, Princess of Wales once saying that she (Princess Michael) has the most amount of royal blood to be married with the BRF since Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh (her grandmother was a Princess of Windisch-Graetz) without considering that Diana was descended from both Charles II and James II though illegitimately and to Philip Louis I, Elector of the Palatinate (though morganatically) meaning basically related to also all French, Austrian, German and Italian royal families. Still, I think she also respected and adored her being the two of the last ladies being born from European titled nobility.
What kind of umble jumble is this . She respected her beeing the two ? Are you so concerned about beeing elaborately eloquent that you dont need to make sense anymore?
She would seriously get on my nerves, she sound sanctimonious, boring even, that's not having a conversation,. Mountbatten match making again, she sounds like a groupie gone old.
Forget the posh bit !! I like to hear people speaking well, and so good looking and classy. How did the royals expect her to live when shes not on the civil list and give up her job? Crazy!!! I would have refused , what are they going to do ??
What a charming lady. I loved her comment, that got PETA in a tizzy: "[Animals] don't have rights. You only have rights if you pay your taxes. You earn your rights."
Lovely lady who obviously enjoys her historical writing. When I was a teenager I had a huge crush on Prince Michael - but HRH beat me to it! I do find the interviewer somewhat irritating with his banal comments.
I think she was a little jealous of Dianas popularity and how the public loved her, meanwhile she was seen as a "hanger on" with no real relevance, Princess pushy etc. She is beautiful though, even in her senior years
@@allurach1746 That is indeed an interesting background but Marie Reibnitz prefers to pretend that she grew up in some vast Austrian castle. Delusional.
she is an aristocrat he is a borgeois she is very sofisticated he is in an attempt of being sofisticated he tried to make the conversation informal like "among friends" from the very beginning but she has the situation in control and does not allow herself to get down to his level, although politely
She had to underline about Princess Diana "someone with little education "...well ,we all know that, but they way it was said, it sounded a bit "stuffy". Education has nothing to do with social behavior or personal qualities. Anyway. ..
Fitzroi. That might be true but she was by herself not bothering anybody until she was rooted out and was treated so unkindly. Harry will never forgive them
That jumped out at me as well. Diana was the daughter of an Earl and born into the the upper class so therefore had the very best education, at least up to secondary level. To say that she had little education is not true by a conventional measure and is just the toffee-nosed, blue blood way of saying she was thick.
That was a really good point she made about the peasantry and the Hapsburg Empire compared to the Russian Empire. You looked after the people who worked for you as if they were your family. That's why the Hapsburg Empire lasted as long as it did. I don't know if that's true, but I never thought about it.
I must admit I'm surprised by HRH's intellectual sophistication. I had only known of her as shallow woman interested in acquiring whatever stuff she could get her hands on!
Wonderful moment about 40 seconds in when he described her as an "Interior Decorator". And she,, in the very next sentence, describes herself as an......."Interior Designer" That book was an International best seller, and stayed at the number one spot for one whole year.
I'm was schooled in interior design and people constantly said interior decorating.. I would correct them as well. Designers and decorators are very, very different.
I am not very found of her mainly due to what I have read about her but having heard her talk, I must admit reluctantly that she is a very intelligent woman. Educated, independent, fun to talk to as well as beautiful. When she talked about Di like that I wanted to slap her but unfortunately, it's true. Having read, watched movies about Di, I have myself come to the conclusion that her upbringing contributed much to her emotional and mental wellbeing in that awful marriage. If she had been smart, she would not have married Charles OR played the game for that matter like the aristocrats do. Sleep around and act that you're married happily to the rest of the world. I would like to read her books. History has always fascinated me. Like her.
jacke sutton pilsner coltrane I read somewhere that Charles did not go back to Camilla until his marriage with Diana started to go wrong, but I don't know whether this is true or not. That was an arranged marriage and there was a large age gap.
+p123 Charles hooked up with Camilla after his marriage to Diana was irretrievably broken but did so before they divorced. It is widely believed that Diana did the same.
Diana knew that chuckie was dithering with Camilla who had been his lover before. She needed love and affection from someone. I knew the day the engagement was announced that he was not right for her, as when the interviewer asked "are you in love?" Diana immediately said "of course!" but Charles said "whatever that is" a typical male answer of someone who is NOT in love. He was only doing his "duty" by getting married and he couldn't have Camilla at the time. Plus he had to produce an heir.
I wish I could understand what the negative comments were about several months ago when she met Meghan Markle.. people were saying awful things and putting her down and saying that she's Prejudiced... and they were saying something about slavery or that her father or recent ancestor had been a slave trader or some crazy stuff... does anybody know what that was all about ? I had never heard of Prince Michael until then... obviously a great researcher and really knows her history ... sounds like she has led a fascinating life. Also I agree with her when she refuses to talk about other royals who are still alive... this man that interviewed her surely must know that if you speak about the Royal Family , if you dish on them, you can be ostracized for life.. they have done it to a number of people.
People say so many things about anyone with high profile. So much is untrue. I find this lady (based upon this one interview) to be very intelligent, articulate, and gracious. I love history and I enjoy listening to historians.
Her continental lilt is a fabrication. Her formative years were spent entirely in Australia and she has lived her entire adult life in Britain. She has never lived on the continent, except as a baby.
I am *not* a royalist and do not live in the UK. The only two people (other than the Queen) who deserves respect, are in my view, HRH Princess Michael of Kent and HRH Princess Alexandra, The Hon. Lady Ogilvy.
She looks very smart but also very careful what to say even when it comes to “yellow papers”. I can’t trust her writings in history, I believe she can’t be neutral.
Fabulous, knowledge of British culture, truly all people are lovable when the media allows authenticity to be shared & unediteding their speech. Blessings to you Princess Michael.
In 2004 she was accused of racistly insulting black diners at a restaurant in New York. A spokesperson acknowledged that the Princess had been angry at the group, who were seated on a table near her, but denied that she had told them to "go back to the colonies".
It funny she never mentions she grew up in Australia, went to the Sacred Heart Girls School in Sydney, left for Europe in the late 1960’s. Her brother and half brother still live in Australia as did her mother who died in the late 80’s. So her accent is a little manufactured. I like her don’t get me wrong, I’m just not sure why she never discusses her formative years growing up in Sydney Australia or her family.
The Queen reportedly calls Princess Michael of Kent 'Our Val,' a reference to the warrior-like Valkyries, and as being 'far too grand' for this family.
+Tim Ruben Queen Elizabeth II did in fact call her "Our Val" meaning that she found Princess Michael quite haughty and conceited. From what I know, the Queen is actually more down to earth than Princess Michael. This is just the Queen's personal opinion. Princess Michael might be less down to earth than the Queen but not to the extent of being haughty or conceited. In this interview she comes across as very personable and friendly not to mention fascinating, intelligent, and beautiful.
Paul Chouinard Yes, I remember the Queen had reportedly said that Princess Michael was haughty and conceited. Possibly why she managed to fit in so well!
The Queen must be jealous of her, because the Queen never got the education she wanted, and she has always thought of herself as uneducated and felt bad about it. All her life she was only taught the constitution, the royal protocol, history and french. While Princess Michael of Kent is an intellectual woman, indipendent, who lived her life to the fullest
I love to lisent to her.The intervier is dull and boring an even rude. She is a princess whith her crown very on earth.I can,t wait to by her book. She is caricmatic as beautiful. smart elegant and inteligent.
Pam Horne But Diana was undereducated. Meghan Markle is a very accomplished young woman and comes across so much more confident than Diana and, dare I say, Catherine?
I ran crying to my mother !!! You did your highness? Divorced in 1978 remarried in 1978 ... a calculating looking for a better deal as husband and there you were worried about your decorating business. And she had a veri strict catholic mother to guide her👏 watched this interview thinking it would be interesting as an author to watch, but this woman is do full of her self and full of BS that I'm shocked.
The Princess enunciates very clearly and her speech is quite 'clipped'. A very pleasant voice, albeit rather 'elevated' compared with most accents nowadays!
@@antejl7925 Her native language is German, then Hungarian, then French - she does many interviews on French TV, then she learned English. I don't know if she knows any Czech... It's very possible. Pretty miraculous since her English sounds totally native now.
She is only royal because she married into it, her dad was a ss officer not her fault though, she does nothing wrong but she has a lot to say, our queens left the room over her chomping at the bit, and usd to openly call prince Michael boring, out spoken or rude, take your pick
She’s known to work hard for “the firm” but the Queen has provided her a VERY handsome allowance. She would demand British Air bump a passenger off the plane, pulling rank of a royal, without a second thought, and of course always 1st class. Free. .
Bcos I recall amongst a few other things she made sure the traffic stopped to let her entourage through when it was not necessary, she always makes a point in getting everything for free ..she lived in a manor house and paid a peppercorn rent and then had to sell it(Nether Lypiet ) racism came into it when she told an American to get back to the Colonies ..everything she did made the news back then self serving and a convoluted snob even the QUEEN made a remark about the way she was
Would you like to be accused of your parents crimes if you had committed them yourself? Why is that fair? Why does she need to defend herself? And do you want every interviewer to ask this every time?
@@moonlitdesert Well in World War II Brits were the good guys. India, America and the rest of the colonies? Not so much. But for some reason Brits only ever talk about the second world war. It's so hypocritical it's almost cute.
So what exactly can she do about it - no doubt she loved her father as a father other aspects must be painful to discuss - im related to Lord Haw Haw (William Joyce) - not a thing i can do about it

@@oliviero.m750 HI Sorry to inform you that if she had married the Duke of Kent he like Prince Michael of Kent would have to give up his claim to the throne due to the fact that she is a Catholic, And yes you are right i cannot stand the women just like more than half off the population of Britain, and members of the royal Family, the women should learn to keep her mouth shut and to stop making racist remarks well i suppose when you had a father like hers who was a member off the SS

Wow. I would love to meet her. What an intelligent and witty woman. As a fellow student of history I found her fascinating.
Rae M. Most royals look down on anybody else.
@@georgcorfu I admit I do not personally know her but I do know someone who is.
So elegant, so royal👑To me, one of the Best Dressed woman in Windsors🙏
Fun fact : Queen Elizabeth said she's too grand for the British royal family as her ancestory went upto nobles of the 1200s and connected with most European royal families
Her blood is far far less Royal than her husband or the Queen or Prince Phillip.

Shes boring!
Beautiful, articulate,classy, intelligent.
She has a lovely speaking voice. Avery nice and underrated woman in my opinion.
What a cool woman. We were sold Princess Pushy.... This woman is lovely,,sexy and super intelligent.Total Babe
I absolutely love her snobbishness!lolololol
I've always admired her and her husband 💕
Oh dear - I am rather disappointed that Princess Michael chose to psychoanalyse both the late Princess Diana as well as the currently living Sarah, Duchess of York.
That’s the fastest 41 minutes of any RUclips video I’ve seen - gracious, charming, eloquent, bright, intelligent and interesting... What a lady!
I really like this woman! Enjoyed listening to her :-)
A most wonderful articulate woman... I also enjoyed listening to her.
Sense of duty is most definitely as prominent now as it's ever been. There are STILL people out here as loyal to their calling as the day they realised it. However, today this seems more prominent in everyday lives than that of the aristocracy. Valid point of observation.
I could listen to her talk forever. She speaks so beautifully.
Cindy More, how is she responsible for her father's politics and bigotry? She's not. Period.
Daniel Jr Hahahaha!
Kvmilla, I agree with you, she speaks beautifully. And I find her fascinating.
Cindy Morre dont compare Trump with HRH.
English is her third language she pronounces her words carefully.
Horrid Woman
@@ebmac8135 Know her do you? Do tell.
What kind of umble jumble is this .
She respected her beeing the two ? Are you so concerned about beeing elaborately eloquent that you dont need to make sense anymore?
Prince of Windisch-Graetz is not a royal tittle. But yes, she's got royal blood, but who doesn't...
Crazy!!! I would have refused , what are they going to do ??
they could strip her of HRH or remove her husband and children from the line of succession.
What an absolutely fascinating, intelligent woman not at all like she is portrayed by the media
Given her bad press, she comes across as surprisingly articulate and straightforward. Not in the least snobbish as you might expect.
frisco21 ...that's what I saw too in this interview.
However, in-person, she's frequently described as highly unpleasant. It's a shame.
What a charming lady. I loved her comment, that got PETA in a tizzy: "[Animals] don't have rights. You only have rights if you pay your taxes. You earn your rights."
I don't think she's charming at all. Those remarks about animals are vicious.
***** Really? Poor darling...
Eu Sei they most certainly do have rights
Eu Sei - you're deranged, dear. Take a pill and sit quietly.
what Conrad did on his latest prison break
Lovely lady who obviously enjoys her historical writing. When I was a teenager I had a
huge crush on Prince Michael - but HRH beat me to it! I do find the interviewer somewhat irritating with his banal comments.
I think she was a little jealous of Dianas popularity and how the public loved her, meanwhile she was seen as a "hanger on" with no real relevance, Princess pushy etc. She is beautiful though, even in her senior years
i cant see why she would be jealous of anyone. remember her country is austria she has no accent.
She doesn’t mention she grew up in Sydney, attending sacred heart college, Kincoppal Rose Bay... totally wiped that from her bibliography
What? Wow! She must have been very resourceful to go from relative obscurity and little money to marrying into the royal family. How?
@@allurach1746 That is indeed an interesting background but Marie Reibnitz prefers to pretend that she grew up in some vast Austrian castle. Delusional.

J Nicholas-Windsor they’re already friends like he stated early in the interview so he has a casual attitude with her

he is a borgeois
she is very sofisticated

he tried to make the conversation informal like "among friends"
from the very beginning
but she has the situation in control
and does not allow herself to get down to his level, although politely

@@JRANDALL93 Thank you 😊
They are both horrible.
I like her, she's not phony. And she doesn't need to be really nice just to be notice by the press and she's really beautiful .
Harry will never forgive them
Zaddie Pavlova I disagree. Education provides the ability to broaden ones horizon and process experiences on many planes vs limited planes.
Fitzroi so true!
Fitzroi YES!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Both can be true at the same time.
Shallow gold diggers are often quite intelligent. They know how to use their looks.
Can this guy see at all? I saw that he was a convicted felon and begged (and gave up Canadian citizenship) for a title.
Wonderful moment about 40 seconds in when he described her as an "Interior Decorator".
And she,, in the very next sentence, describes herself as an......."Interior Designer"
That book was an International best seller, and stayed at the number one spot for one whole year.
I'm was schooled in interior design and people constantly said interior decorating.. I would correct them as well. Designers and decorators are very, very different.
Lol
That Rembrandt Bugatti panther on the top of the fireplace is highly desirable.

How does she have such a posh english accent?? isnt she from austria :O
Hardly dum, she’s highly articulate and intelligent.
History is where it’s at. We need more of the dialogue.
She is the most chic, educated, posh and polite of all the entire UK Royal Family.

The Princess vs the court jester.
Somebody might tell her to go back to the colonies.
stop hating, mark. 🤦🏽♂️🤣
Agree.
Wow she is a stunner in every way such a shame she wasn’t allowed to continue to work and earn her own money
I love to lisent to her.The intervier is dull and boring an even rude. She is a princess whith her crown very on earth.I can,t wait to by her book. She is caricmatic as beautiful. smart elegant and inteligent.

The Princess enunciates very clearly and her speech is quite 'clipped'. A very pleasant voice, albeit rather 'elevated' compared with most accents nowadays!
She is. And remember, English is her fourth language.
@@antejl7925 Her native language is German, then Hungarian, then French - she does many interviews on French TV, then she learned English. I don't know if she knows any Czech... It's very possible. Pretty miraculous since her English sounds totally native now.

Dsky40 from Samantha Markle specifically for Meghan Markle!
She is only royal because she married into it, her dad was a ss officer not her fault though, she does nothing wrong but she has a lot to say, our queens left the room over her chomping at the bit, and usd to openly call prince Michael boring, out spoken or rude, take your pick

No one noticed, she avoided talking about her father. He was an SS officer. Nazi
Mandy Okoko so we're a lot of people's but then if you think about it a lot of people have fathers and grandfathers that were in the British army.
