I still don't believe Kentaro Miura is gone :( Berserk changed my life! The animations worth a watch, specially the 1997 one! They are not the production it deserves but it is cool to see the characters "alive" and the soundtrack is amazing!
If You like it already then You are going to love what's to come....every aspect You've mentioned gets much, much better...The Characters, The World, and don't even get Me started about the Art....! Dark, Beautiful & just THE GREATEST . ! And yes...avoid spoilers at all costs...! I'd recommend keep going and going coz You.will.keep.coming.back! Even after You are all caught up...
You're in for one of the rides of your life with this. The Golden Age arc is some of the best fantasy I have read. I've only just discovered your channel, so I don't know what you have read. But if you're into dark psychological stuff, I recommend Homunculus.
Your rollercoaster analogy is spot on! This manga plummeted me to some pretty raw emotional depths as Miura's ability to make me care about his characters and their relationships is second to none. Seriously, this book broke my heart multiple times (in the best way). As for other manga: Monster: Somebody already recommended another work from the same author (21st Cent. Boys) and I'd argue that all of his works are worth a read. However, this is probably one of the best psychological thrillers I've come across in any medium. Mushishi: A slow, chill read with excellent world building and emotionality. Perfect pallet cleanser for something like Berserk. Dorohedoro: A brutal sense of dark humour set in a grungy, violent and peculiar world. You say that you don't like action, so fair warning there's more than a bit here but it's executed with an over the top humorous flair that you might appreciate. Moreover, the cast is so bloody likeable that you'll wanna stick around just for them.
Wow wow wow, I had been expecting this video for about 2 years :D :D I have commented a few times to express that Berserk is in my view the best Manga (that I have read). I could already recommend more Manga to read, but I really think you should keep reading Berserk. I mean, it can take some time, Berserk is not like in the category of the longest Manga, but it is not exactly short either. In my case I am currently reading it for the 2nd time, so your video is a good as it gets for me. I am certain that your fondness for Puck and Guts will greatly increase. Anyway, thanks for your videos, you always transmit so much energy!!! Have a great rest of the week!!
i finally did it! i do read the comments & take on recommendations.. i'm just extremely slow. i like to take my time & pick up books when i'm in the perfect mood for them. i'll definitely read the rest of Berserk over the next 1-2 years :) ... those deluxe volumes are expensive
I just got into manga as well. First manga I got was the Akira box set. I also picked up Gunnm and Nausicaä. Uzumaki is on the way, and I'm waiting for deluxe editions 11 12 and 13 to get here before I dive all the way in.
Welcome to the world of manga. I love Berserk too. My recommendation is Fujiyama-san wa Shishunki and Neko no Otera no Chion-san. Both from the same author. Both easy reads and finished.
I remember seeing about Berserk in old magazines a long, long time ago when I was little like 20 years ago or more, in the late 90s I was a crazy dragon ball fan and I liked to buy manga and magazines, and I remember seeing it there, so if I'm not mistaken this manga is something old; I will add it to my list'...I want to list all my books I've read, so I made a goodreads account =p
Hi Kira, I'm so happy to see you so often. I should get notifications when you post but I don't think I am. Great rundown of this book. I'm really thinking about reading.
Berserk is supreme indeed, though far better known among manga circles then you might seem aware of (I think). In case you're open for more manga recs, I would highly suggest you to give the following gems a shot: - Hajime no Ippo (genuinely funny, motivating & endearing) - Vagabond - Vinland Saga - Monster - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (The best is yet to come) - Uzumaki: Spiral into Horror (or anything by Junji Ito) - Kiseijuu (Parasyte) - One Punch-Man Fingers crossed that you might give these tremendous experiences in story-telling a shot in the near future. Have fun! Greetings from the Netherlands!
Some of my recommendations: - Claymore - 20th/21st Century Boys - Oyasumi Punpun You might like Claymore if you like Berserk, it's my favourite manga. 20th/21st Century Boys is an amazing mystery manga, really keeps you reading. And Oyasumi Punpun is basically depression injected into your veins.
The girl from the other side and monster. When you get caught up in berserk it’ll be exciting for the fans, we enjoy seeing people experience the series. I own Akira too.
Randomly stumbled upon this channel, without spoiling anything just wanted to say usually the 1st Deluxe volume doesn't get people hooked, so it's interesting to me that it's already catched your attention. I'll second what MattsoooN said, keep reading and definitely try to be careful with the comments, cause some people don't realize they foreshadow specific parts of the story and it takes away from the experience, imo. Although to be fair, most people within the fandom are reasonable so you might not have any issues at all. Interested to hear your thoughts for the next volumes if you decide to continue with the series, particularly on the art evolution.

I don't know if you've read the rest of it yet, but if you liked the beginning, you're gonna LOVE where it goes from here, especially the Lost Children arc if you haven't gotten to it yet. It has helped me get through a TON of tough shit in my lifetime and I cannot thank Miura enough for that! There is genuinely no character who has inspired me to press on through it all and keep moving forward the way that Guts has, and that's saying something.
@@reishin6hey have currently released 6 chapters (with a 7th releasing in a few days) since Miura’s death. The art is only marginally less detailed before, so I’m not worried about that. As for the story and dialogue, some things feel slightly rushed since Mori is relying on what he remembers from Miura, but it’s also still really good. Overall, I’m pretty confident that the team working on the continuation will stick the landing when it comes to finishing the manga.
Im not generally a fan of manga or anime, but its hands down one of the best stories ive ever read, ive never been so pumped reading a book before, the way it conveys emotion, action, philosophy, its astounding. i would have weekend benders just reading it all the way to book 40, and i firmly believe that its going to be a modern classic
If someone start with the first volume of deluxe and don't like it... Keep going the first volume is misleading it becomes far better in every way I personally like it but can drow away some people that will love it if they continue
Once you finish Berserk you may want to read Holyland. The author is one of Miura's best friends (kouji Mori) and he has recently taken a directorial role in Berserk since Miura's passing. They have very similar themes.
OHHH durarara, and that volleyball one? OHH ITS CALLED Haikyu!!!!!! i know- volleyball manga?? i dont like volleybally at all BUT this one IS SO GOOD it makes you actually care
THIS. I don't get the slightlest how some people in the community warn everyone that the Black Swordsman arc is the worse part of Berserk and that they shouldn't skip it bcs they promise it gets better. Like, wtf just the first volumes are absolute masterpieces were you can really feel the action in the flesh and the narrative and attachment to the feelings of the characters is so effective considering it's just almost three volumes of the FOURTY that will go on. I'm not saying it does not get better, it absolutely fucking does, but then that Guts isn't likable and you don't get him during this volume like, he was an amazingly well written and deep layered character then who just got better during Golden Age.. shit, this story just goes better and better.. Berserk is the greatest narrative piece of mankind after the fucking Iliad, no fucking cap.
im shocked she thinks the art is so good given the author thought he wasnt good enough, he drew this good in highschool. And believe it or not his art gets 10x better by the end.
Junji Ito's safe horror is so overrated. It's like furry horror to me. A fleck of dirt on the black wings of Kazuo Umezz… If anybody wants to try more complex and interesting manga, try old masters like Yoshiharu Tsuge, Yoshihiro Tatsumi, Murasaki Yamada and Kuniko Tsurita, or current masters like Inio Asano, Taiyo Matsumoto or Shuzo Oshimi. All of them available in English.
As a guy that really dislikes manga, I can confidently say that Berserk is my favorite story of all time, the author makes the characters feel so real in a way I've never seen before. Can't wait to see how you like all the other volumes, that's when it gets insanely good.
