The devs dont have the mental capacity or talent to create actual new raids or decent content. The first 2 phases so far have been a colossal joke in terms of content for mains and creativity. I'm guessing the rest of the games phases will stagnate the same way. So many missed opportunities.
I agree man. Once wotlk prepatch came out this classic time it was so evident that Death grip especially REALLY hurt pvp in so many ways.. same with the knock backs from ele and boomy, but no as bad. @az9498
Agreed, we could even eventually push into the dark portal and do all of that content while staying at 60 with SoD... Zone progression via chain quests that unlock runes, with the more impactful runes taking you into the 5mans.
i've been playing wow for 17 years. i played retail up until classic came back. at that point, i never looked back. i play vanilla, and i play sod. i love sod. and i love classic vanilla. classic wrath lost me when it became retail with the token, and now with catalyst. but, i play different than anyone else, i dont raid, and i dont really play with other people. if they can keep classic from getting a token, from turning into retail and still get new content, do cool stuff and be its own game, that would be great. keep the artisan fishing quest. keep stitches. keep how difficult it is to get around. keep the classic charm. dont make it retail.
They should definitely keep developing SoD for years down the line. I wish they would add even more content to stuff like BWL opening, Scarab Lord questline, etc. Staysafe been having the absolutely correct opinion lately.
I just want fresh vanilla. For example i like playing shaman but hate that they can do everything. Most fun i had as shaman was during HC run of ST. Just by pressing 1 button(grounding) guaranteed safety during eranikus. Unique utility and not FOTM
I’m hoping this shadow creature we have been interacting with in SoD is a time traveling NPC that is being developed in a way to revert time back to classic, where it all began. Retail will have a world ending explosion but the shadowy figure stops time and reverts everything back into vanilla remastered and EVERYONE starts fresh. No more retail, everyone is playing a single version of world of Warcraft again. Could be massive copium , but that is my wish for Classic WoW. Sod has been incredible, just need more of it!!
the great part of the "seasonal" approach to classic + is they literally can just keep redoing it and people will 1000% play the next one assuming the 60 bracket doesnt fail miserably. This is Classic +, but i'm sure we see more iterations of this and possibly in the future we see brand new content.
The biggest problem with retail is how convenient they made everything. Heirlooms was the start of it all. It completely made the most important part of an MMO feel irrelevant. Gearing up and feeling the power.
The seasonal aspects of SoD should roll into future seasons. ie. lower lvl capped phases, raids and runes. In addition, let both sides have sham and pally and i hope they also improve model/spell effect graphics etc.
As someone that is insane enough to have max level characters on multiple realms, it seems that even hardcore has more online on 1 server than retail. I think the queue system just pulls from multiple servers on retail to make queue times faster. This could also be due to how phasing works in retail and the massive amount of content and zones people could be in. But the world feels empty.
Those 2 unused zones you mentioned just become Uldum and Twilight Highlands They might have had an idea for those zones in the beginning would be cool to see a vanilla version of them for sure.

At the 12:00 mark, my thoughts is actually that classic + was on the table since the success of classic. I just think they held off to let the masses (myself included) that wanted to relieve the classic trilogy adventure, do so first, before taking a gamble on a product that would compete with itself
Plus it garners a lot of data on what player actions are in how they interact with the classic content and world, and see what will stick and what will not potentially more effectively
I don't know a single person who plays retail. I know about a dozen people who play classic or SoD. Hell, my coworker used to play classic back when it launched up til cataclysm. He recently got a new laptop to play SoD. He's 57 years old. 3 other people in my office all play WoW vanilla as well. Retail is garbage. Classic will always be better.
I have played wow since late TBC and quit in DF after YEARS of waiting for wow to become good again. With 2 weeks left on my sub I thought ill fool around on SOD for that good old feeling that wow used to give me. I AM HOOKED! I love it and I will never play retail again! It feels sooooo good to excited for the future of SOD or possible Classic plus.
I played SoD and to be honest I had way too much fun. Able to play the class/specs that were not viable in Classic. But, being seasonal I can't imagine it eventually coming to an end and I stopped playing SoD. I wish they would announce that it will continue as Classic Discovery adding more content and not continuing to TBC I'd be still playing.
One of the practical issues with retail WoW is how most professions remain useful at end game. These being Enchanting and Alchemy. Not sure about Engineering.
classic + should be mythic+, arena, RBG. new zones for the other races such as worgen, etc. shaman and paladin for both factions. then add new expansion content to classic as additional level 60 content.
I hope this is precursor to a much bigger Classic+, but they keep saying that our characters ‘will go to a good place,’ like what they say to the kids when the family pet dies.
I think there are more people playing SOD/Classic than there are playing retail... and I can't help but wonder how long it will be before the accountants at Microsoft ask "why are we spending all this time and money on development for retail when more people are playing classic?" and the development focus shifts accordingly.
I think more people are playing classic atm but SOD is currently the FOTM. I won't be surprised if retail has a large surge in players when it releases the new expansion because that will be the newest thing out as far as WoW content.
I love sod. But big problem for me is when i have 70h played with my character i already got everything. Its too small amount of content. I would like to see atleast 3-5raids at lvl cap and loot should be equal in those raids (ofc little differences). Not like you do those raids and then you got few ilvl and go to next one whats little harder. Why not make few raids? Same with retail, i dont understand the consept to have many raids but the gear is obsolete when you get new piece from next raid??
If SoD is indeed pulling devs to work on Cata, they may lose the playerbases favor. They need to be really careful, shamans are still p2 kings and we noticed
to me, the new stuff felt too powerful compared to the old stuff. Made the classes feel thinner and bloaty at the same time. They also need to focus on making the levelling more fun. Also, better to increase rest bonus instead of blanket xp bonus.
Even though I'm 100% a SoD player and not retail.. I think we are kidding ourselves when we think classic is more popular. Do you really think they are going to keep dumping all the resources into the version the least people are playing? I do think there are more of a "certain type" of players playing classic, but in terms of total players/income I imagine retail is multiple times higher.
I don't know if there is more playing classic than Retail..if they are they are playing SOD..all other classic servers are dead compared to pre SOD , HC servers are a ghost town compared to previously when they were on Bloodsail.. Honestly they need to do certain seasons of expansions that people loved..Legion, Mop, TBC, Wrath..maybe all at once..let the player choose..Retail is Not WoW it's WoW 2.0 I am looking forward to what they have in the future for retail..thankfully we will always have a classic era server to fall back on..I really enjoy it and have spent more time playing classic era since 2019 than I have retail.

Love PVP or Hate PVP. Blizz needs to figure this thing out. Dying in a Rogues opening stun or HoJ should never be the case. Its just lazy, bad design. I love burst as much as the next guy. But not even getting a chance to engage the fight is bad
I used to think vanilla was better than tbc and wrath until i went back through and played them again. Eveytime i go back to play vanilla i end up leveling up a few levels then go back to wrath. I get so bored by vanillas combat that it now just feels like a slog to go through. SoD has made combat much more interesting and much better to play than vanilla was. SoD makes vanilla content much better to play and am actually enjoying it more than anything wow right now has going on.

i understand most people watching you love vanilla and SoD , so they will not agree with me, but FOR ME tbc and wotlk are much better then vanilla. In Vanilla are totally boring talent trees comparing to BC and WOTLK, horible leveling with a lot of downtime eating/drinking. Class imbalance. TBC and WOTLK added much QoL that really help improved the enjoyment of the game.
They want to move all players into wow retail, becase we seen how they do with wow classic SoD nerfing, buffing, give everyone epic items hahha.. WOW is over!!! sorry but its true!
Sod sucks. I think I’m one of the few boomers still playing who just want a slightly rebalanced vanilla classic+. Problem is private servers did vanilla way better than blizzard ever will so people will always be drawn to the sugar rush blizzard solutions like Sod.

SoD should be a proof-of-concept minimum-viable-product for Vanilla+/Classic+
