"I don't want to offend anybody" that's not alternate history. Alternate history is based on facts and facts are USSR would get demolished by Allied and ex-wehrmaht armies
@@pie2411 Have you ever heard about their quality? Did you count Latinoamerican allies and neutral countries who will be happy to squash Soviets like Spain? USSR didn't have an atomic bomb yet another important fact
Operation Unthinkable even *happening* is alternative history. It was highly unlikely that either scenario would occur, as the USSR had the numbers and the West had the industry. In a pure land war, initially the USSR would see quick gains, but after some time it would likely be reminiscent of World War One, albeit with high usage of atomic bombs. Remember, Stalin developed his own atom bomb by 1949. It would've become a much deadlier conflict than WW2 ever was, regardless of who wins. I don't know why you got offended over the fact that this is an exercise of thought, but again, note that the USSR at the end of the second world war had *11 million soldiers* stationed throughout Europe. Operation unthinkable would be outnumbered until much more American and other allied reinforcements arrived to the continent. Even with air power, if you don't have men to win the battles it really doesn't matter. In the end? The west would win. But at what cost? An irradiated Germany? Millions upon millions dead? Eastern Europe in ruin? It just wasn't worth it to the Allies.
Soviets were unable to fight entire planet.
Good return video

Hello (you sent the waving emoji so I said this.)

You know the Soviets had practically twice as many troops and tanks as all of the Western Allies combined, right?
