If Anakin had just killed Palpatine in the fight against Windu, if Bilbo had killed Gollum,....and lastly, if Amity Island had closed the beach for the 4th of July when Jaws terrified the community, then the stories would not have been NEAR as interesting.
We broke down on the back roads of Georgia once, walked for an hour in unreal heat before we found a house. Place had a 3 legged dog chained to a transmission, and a porch toilet. Never regretted walking that extra 30 minutes to the next place.

The hotness quota in Wrong Turn is too damn high! They had to kill off Lindy Booth early to tone it down 😅 She's in the underrated thriller Cry Wolf for much longer.
Those "back roads" were better maintained than most paved roads. Never saw a back road that wide. When I was 12 there was a pretty big flood where I lived. After the waters receded I walked down a back road and found 3 9 inch catfish in a pothole . They were still alive with water in the hole. That's a real back road.

Halloween season means more "shuddups". I'm cool with that. "End of days" is an amazing thrill ride and so is "deep rising" hopefully you look into them
This is just a really enjoyable horror movie. The way they set up the vibe and atmosphere of the setting on the one hand can be really easy, but also so easy to overdo. But they nailed it.

Even if there weren't CLEAR SIGNS literally EVERYWHERE that said "you will 100% die in here", they BROKE. INTO. THEIR. HOUSE. It's like they all woke up and decided today was a perfect day to die.
When my dog acts up I send him to his bed and he does the same thing! He'll try to creep out little by little, like I don't notice, and then try to act like ain't nothing happened. I just look at him and say "Bed", he'll droop his ears, give me a couple of double takes, crawl back in bed and get comfortable because he knows I mean business. He really is just like a child.

That could very well be WV. I went from Kentucky to D.C. once and drove through there in the snow and was terrified going up and down those hills because my friend was speeding.
