- The rear hatch on the 350Z has some decent weight to it and the factory ones at this age are getting worn out. Z1 Motorsports has tweaked upon the design and gives 350Z owners three options for lifting strength depending on their needs. Watch the video to see how easy installation is.

Ive been contemplating if I should do this for about 2 years now. I finally did it today and holyyy the difference is crazy! Your video made it really easy to assemble, took about 15 minutes
That's awesome! Glad to hear your like them.
I've been procrastinating on this for so long haha
You'll be so happy when you swap them
Now I can put new ones on my z after seeing this useful information and video superb content 👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦Ron uk
Thanks Ron!
After getting nearly knocked out a few times I changed mines to the UHP (have a Nismo V1 spoiler) and they are absolutely fantastic. Thinking about doing hood struts next!
That's awesome!
I am considering buying the exact same ones. I also have the issue of having to double push the boot open button while lifting to actually get it to release.
Will the M1 UHP struts fix this issue or do I need to get new poppers? (If so does anyone know which ones will do the job correctly [factory/aftermarket]?)
@@chrishodgson2247 I put thick rubber pad s where the popper hits. Cheap fix.
Hi can you please tell me the wrench you used to extract the first part of the strut please? I tried using a 12mm one but it's a little loose and is damaging the nut and I don't know about non-metric tools, thanks!
Sounds like you'll need to get more sizes of wrenches.
Literally just did this to my Z!
How'd it go?
AnthonyJ350 it went pretty good, definitely worth the money.
So apparently now i see why the previous owner gave me free Z1 Uhp hatch struts when i bought my Hr because he COMPLETELY ROUNDED OFF THE TOP STUD ON BOTH SIDES THAT BOLT ONTO THE HATCH 🤦🏽♂️ what would you recommend i do?
The threads are damaged? You'll need to retap the threads in that case.
AnthonyJ350 not the threads the top little ball studs that the
Struts attach to and you cant seperate because of the retaining pin from factory. Both ball studs are stripped and i cant get a wrench to catch on it and break it loose smh the past owner probably tried to change them on his own and only stripped them really bad. Should i try cutting them? I might have to do that and get a dremel tomorrow
Hey anthony, whats the spring looking rubber thing right beside the gas strut ball joints? Do you know the name or the Part number, my right ones bent.
Which part of the video?
@@AnthonyJ350 nvm searched a part number and its a trunk lift spring
@@Jimanderson124 Glad you figured it out
That was one of the first fixes on my Z after I bought it, the hatch shocks. lol.....
Did you get the Z1 version?
@@AnthonyJ350 No, I think I got the from amazon.
@@CVObservatorydid they last
I put them pointing up and I was wondering why my hatch wasn’t closing all the way 🤦 just painted my car so everything came off didn’t pay attention to that thanks 🙏
Honest mistake
You get what u pay for. Buy the good struts. Not the ones with chrome cup ends that lock with a piece of wire eBay junk. Buy the ones that snap in for $5 more. I learned it hard way
These aren't from ebay though. They're from Z1 with their part number on it. Have you tried the Z1 version specifically?
@@AnthonyJ350 I do like Z1 products. Just saying
@@freeyourmind8849 I would like to hope Z1 does quality control, I'm super happy with their in house custom products.
