I'm so happy with this update. This in my opinion is the best change to AoE 4 ever made. Thank you for promoting the siege changes and voicing the necessity for them. I agree with everything in this video, except that I disagree with the idea that elevating micro is good for the game. In my opinion, the strongest side of AoE 4 and its unique value proposition is its strategic depth and priority of the decision making over micromanaging. I believe that every unit composition should have at least one unit composition based on a different unit that hard counters it. When you have to possess relatively high mechanical skill to defeat a certain unit composition, like having to target fire with Mangonels predicting the movement of the units to extract any value from them, the unit inevitably becomes balanced around the top level players to keep the game balanced there, and at lower level where people have much, much less APM and mechanical execution skills such units become useless. Just like in AoE 2 where Mangonels have friendly fire and below around top 5% of the playerbase the player is going to deal more damage to their own units than the units of the opponent, Mangonels become useless in practice for the vast majority of the playerbase, and a unit that is balanced around having that unit requiring high mechanical execution skill as a counter becomes broken. Also, I believe Horsemen need a change that would allow them to actually be the answer to mass Archers + some spearmen in Feudal. Spearmen are so cost efficient against them and melt them so fast, and Archers still deal so much damage to them while kiting and focus firing behind some Spearmen, that the only realistic counter to mass Archers in Feudal is going mass Archers yourself, unless you are playing a civ with Feudal Knights. I believe Archers + Spearmen should only counter Horsemen if it's around 50% Archers and 50% Spearmen, while right now they can have around 80% Archers and 20% Spearmen and melt Horsemen on equal resources, the unit that is supposed to be the hard counter to the core unit in the composition. Which is even worse when taking high food cost of Horsemen into account, the most important and limited resource in Feudal while wood is practically unlimited and you can put any amount of vills on wood to spam Archers and Spearmen. But even with that in mind, this is still an incredible change to the game, in my opinion. I'm very happy the devs actually care enough and are brave enough to make game changing updates that address the biggest problems with the game. Again, thank you for contributing to the change.
Hi, promise not back-seating you on how you run your RUclips channel or anything. Just wanna toss a suggestion. Maybe use a thumbnail template. Even if now you are still experimenting on one to be identifiable or unique. A safe suggestion I'd give is better texts. I think IamMagic's thumbnails are a good example or those like Beasty's if you want to have your face plastered on the thumbnail as well :) But I'd go for those like IamMagic with big text visible on thumbnail on the topic of the video. I understand this RUclips channel is not your main job and dedicating too much time on it is not your priority as a competitive player but just having a template with the text and font I believe is a reasonable suggestion for the effort and possible better visibility in return. For now even using RUclips recommended thumbnail as backdrop is fine. Just bigger and easier to read text on thumbnail would be nice. Also, if not a big deal. Maybe have a copy-paste template of links to your other socials in the description is also nice to have. If no links, just have the generic text of saying thank you and please feel free to comment of what you'd like to see on my next video blah blah Sorry for the long post. Also no potato sorry :D
