Man you did a great job on that man... I have one as well and trying to modify mine... My question is why don't you have an anchor in the back of the boat? How do you not spin etc. Also what do I need to make a good GoPro stand that won't fall in the water to capture the whole boat view as I fish?
Usually 1 anchor in the front will work. If not I will just throw another anchor off the back. For the gopro, I modified a navigation pole for the rear of the boat. I drilled a hole in the light pole cap and bolted a gopro attachment to the top. I attach my gopro and insert it into the rear nav light socket. My newer fishing vids have that angle from the nav pole. Hope this helps!
I just bought a Sunday Dolphin, in BC, Canada. Looking to install a downrigger using the oar mount. Trying to figure out how. Also...I guess any additions would need to be riveted?
Congrats on the new sun dolphin! Any additions besides the seats were used with roofing screws that have a rubber washer. It helps to keep rain out and hold well! Would love to see what you come up with using oar mount for a downrigger! Thanks for watching!
What did you use to attach the anchor lift to the boat ? Since it’s hollow plastic I’m worried whatever I do may strip out with the weight of the anchor…. Thanks
I actually just used pole barn metal screws and as long as you don't overtighten them, they will hold alot. You can always use a toggle bolt so the wings will grab on the inside of the plastic. Hope this helps
Could you do a video of how you screwed on the seats, cleats, anchor system ect.? Just bought this same boat to make into a mini bass boat, but looking for a little guidance. Thanks!
Good evening. Great content and videos. Question. I also have this boat. Does the bow mounted 30lb trust 30" shaft minn kota is long enough to reach the water being only 30"? How well does this trolling Motor performance being mounted in front? Thank you for your great content.
@@BeardsAndBowsOutdoors Awesome. I went ahead and risked it and bought a Hangkai 4 stroke 4hp from Amazon $240 for the back. Got the boat in fb marketplace for 350, got a trailer on the marketplace for 200. Everything is a work in progress thing. Still need the battery for trolling motor, anchor and some couple more accessories.
On a small boat like this I'll run a size 24 or 27 single deep cycle. It will last most of the day. My bigger boats, I run 2 deep cycles wired in parallel and it will last all day. Use size 24 if you don't have the room. Use a 27 if you have the room
120 into the trailer and 100 of it was the new 2x4’s. LOL. Nice upgrades but cup holders sent it over the top. Cup holders y’all! That’s walking in tall cotton right there! Good video. The family stone tho’. 💪💪. Tight Lines
Good thing those 2x4s were scraps lol. The cup holders that came on the boat are junk. They should be called cup trippers because they always make your drink fall over lol 👊
I'm even bigger and it did the job. Standing and walking took time to get used to. If you have 2 people in the boat, it's best to stand one at a time. My 1436 aluminum jon boat was night and day different and now my 1648 is super stable. If I could go back, I'd spring for an aluminum jon that's bigger
Roughly 14.5 - 15ft long.. it is adjustable so I would say a 13.5 - 14 would suit you . The smaller in size would work if it's the same boat. Hope this helps
Been thinking about getting one of these boats but was concerned about weight. It says the capacity is 532 or something like that. That's gotta exceed that with 2 people in it.
Outstanding. Just awesome. Great job on that boat. Who woulda thunk yall could do all that to that little craft. Keep up the good work. And cool acknowledging your grand folks.
I have been using metal roof screws since they have the rubber washer on them to help keep water out.. All has held great so far. The seat inserts were lag bolted as seen in an old video
Any chance you guys took the rivets out and split the two pieces to do mods underneath? Really trying to find some information on if anyone has gone that route
I actually did this today, recorded it but not uploading untill I also record some modifications to it. Rivets are only for holding the trim in place, its actually stapled together, and has butyl rubber as a gasket. It CAN be taken apart with a flat head screw driver, but I took an angle grinder with a thin cutoff wheel and cut between the two shell peices to get through the staples quickly as it is held together with roughly 250-300 staples, and the butyl rubber is quite tacky aswell. Going to use ~ 100 rivets and rivet it back together once done (~ 40 on each side, then 10 on the front ten on the back) in place of the staples. It has a ~ 12"x36" x1" foam slat on either side, a 12"x12"x~ 32" foam blocks under each bench seat, and one small chunk up front. Transom is a 3/4" thick peice of what looks like UNTREATED plywood that is ~ 16"x16" (barely wider than the metal transom plate) with 2 peices of plastic pin nailed to it. Front trolling motor mount has a 6" peice of 2x4 glued in, and the oar locks on either side are a ~ 3"x5" peice of 3/4 inch plywood. Hopefully i can upload within a week or two, waiting on some accessories to come in.

Yes, using screws works pretty well as long as you don't initially tighten too much and strip the plastic out
@@BeardsAndBowsOutdoors Great, thanks man!
Good Video, enjoyed watching.
Thanks
Nice boat. I been looking for one
They are great boats
What length roof screws are you using? Don't want to go thru both plastics
It all depends on what you are attaching and how much length you need to go through item you are installing. Then I'd add 3/4 inch to that.
Looks good my bearded brotha!
Rock on bearded one! 👊
I want to do something similar with mine. What are you using to attach the accessories, screws or rivets? Is it holding well?
I have been using metal roof screws since they have the rubber washer on them to help keep water out.. All has held great so far. The seat inserts were lag bolted as seen in an old video
I’m curious to the anchor mount myself I’m scared to drill a hole how deep or is there any plywood in the front where your mount is
No plywood underneath in that spot, but its solid holding and works great
How much weight can it handle? Has a ton of accessories
It handles 2 big guys just fine
Great looking rig
How is the stability? Do you feel comfortable standing in it?
It's a little sketchy at first but once you get used to it, it's not bad. Of course it's not as stable as a wider aluminum boat as this is 3ft wide
How do you tie it down to the trailer? Does it bounce on the trailer?
I just use Ratchet straps that connect to the trailer on both sides and tighten down
Found you on TikTok
