Do people not realize that this was not a qualifier for the US? They were going to the next round regardless. This was only for Belgium to qualify.

The European teams play great defense and they play together more than USA; USA has WNBA All-Stars, so the talent level is higher than in Belgium, BUT in order to win in FIBA or the Olympics you MUST develop team chemistry and play lock down defense!!! Belgium hits a lot of 3's and plays good defense, great passing!!!
Maybe that`s why EUA had won the gold medal in the last 7 Olympics, right? hahaha you guys are funny... And remember all these gold won with a huge dominance (wins of 20, 30 points over the others). This is the first time in many years I see the main team USA winning with a close score like this. And it`s important to note that they didn`t have Chelsea Gray, Aja Wilson and Brit Girnner for this match against Belgium. All of them will be in the Olympics most probably.

and i don’t say this in a disrespectful way. but people think caitlin clark is ready for THIS? this amount of physicality, the heavy pressure on defense, the NECESSARY defense for these country teams. i just don’t think she’s ready yet, personally.
Caitlin Clark is a really reliable three point shooter and passer. She wouldn’t get all the defense targeting her with all of the talent on team. Also, she quite literally has one of the biggest fan bases in wbb, and would bring in a huge amount of audience into watching the olympics. She would be on the team for marketing. If you want to complain, maybe ask DT to step off and give a chance to younger players

@@suyy.288 my comment doesn’t have a question in it. it’s a statement from what i’ve observed over the course of her being involved in teams i’ve watched. she just isn’t great defensively, point blank period. she may develop over the years of being in the W, fasho. but right now, with the amount of physicality across world teams. she isn’t ready for that, IMO. she’s a good offensive scorer for sure but it takes more in the fight for a gold medal

I really don't get it, you have the best college scorer ever, and the best start of a rookie season ever and you don't invite her to a program that is to determine who is the best players in the world. I know people will say will most of them are averaging 26 to 30 points a game. If you are averaging 26 points a game and only 2 assists, you are a ball hog. I would rather take a player who is average 17 points a game and 7 assists. That means she is sharing the ball around.
You know there are camps for team USA right? She didn’t attend to any of them so it makes sense why she’s not on the team. It’s normal for rookies to not get on team USA.
Usa pro player need to step it up you may have won but by luck your skill level this game was terrible to be pros.
Belgium needs to work on their Free Throws. The US Pro Players play for different teams and actually do not have much time to play as a team before these games. The US should have done better with 3 Pointers. The coach for Belgium was always whining to the Referee. For good sportsmanship, the Coaching staff of Belgium should have come out to the floor and shake hands.

The last play since they have the shot clock winding down,Belgium should have taken the last shot at least under the 3 seconds time limit and should be taken at the low post because USA will be tempted to give a foul at that very tense moment of play.Belgium should have taken a time out to orchestrate the last play in the dying seconds.

The women's game has definitely improved, but they are lacking fundamentals and playing at speeds beyond their skills levels, probably to try and attract/please the crowds. The announcers need to stop being activists for their woke mindsets. Still a ways to go.

Meesseman played with the Mystics and Vanloo plays with this same team this year, Allemand played for Indiana, Chicago and would be with the Los Angeles team but she was injured with her french team. Back to the 2018 World cup Belgium was already the strongest opponent for USA during this championship. Belgium isn't a little country in women basketball
