Thats what I said when a troll I know made Newsweek after making CNN and Pittsburgh papers. Newsweek is a periodical of note. Infamy for Snapchat videos.
Too bad this movie takes place during the 1860s during the Civil War, and not 1912 when the Titanic sank. Nice sentiment, only off by about 50 years though.
Lol you could have ended the clip with Bill after the fight scene. But wanting till Bill says his line about Ireland 🇮🇪 in the next scene was a good touch. 👍
I recently saw Chicago for the first time…I’ve got this group of friends, and our resident lover of musicals lit up when she found out we never saw it. Had to bring out the fire extinguishers. It was pretty good. Entirely different genre to “Gangs of New York”…this is more my speed; a violent caricature of New York in the 1860’s.
they had to give the oscar to Chicago kuz they messed up not giving it to Moulin Rouge. So they had to try to save face by giving it to a musical, regardless of how "meh" it was.
In bareknuckle boxing the fighters: 1) didn't wind up and hit as hard because they'd break their knuckles so it was a lot of short jabs, and 2) couldn't defend by catching punches on their gloves so they tried to block and catch with their forearms That's why old-timey boxers have that weird stance
@@PeterT-i1w The first mechanical shower was invented in 1767 by William Feetham, a stove maker from London: 1767: Feetham patented the first mechanical shower, which was operated by a hand pump. The shower used a pump to force water into a vessel above the user's head, and a chain was pulled to release the water. 1810: The English Regency Shower was invented, which was the first hot water shower. This shower was made of metal pipes painted to look like bamboo, and had a basin suspended above the pipes that fed water into a nozzle. 1872: Dr. Merry Delabost designed the first mass showers for the Rouen prison, using a steam engine to heat the water. Early 1900s: Indoor plumbing was introduced to the homes of the wealthy. 1930s: Running water became widespread in homes. 1960s: Electric showers were introduced, making the modern shower available. 1980s: Showering became popular with the masses
In those days most men were fighting till the day they died, a 65 year old in the 1800's who was fighting his entire life since he was 10 years old, could beat up most grown men in their 20's today, not to mention the dude he was fighting was mostly likely around the age of Bill who was 44 in the story so he was 50 tops, not 65 lol....

Daniel Day-Lewis is so good, he steals every scene no matter how big or small. it's almost a disservice to the other actors in the movie.
When you break out that drum violin thing , you know business is about to be addressed.
:51 seconds, Bills face was like. What the F$&K did you just say 😅😅
"Yoooed better leave that head alone Bill".

Or a Bar & Grill
Fish-hooked by a sprat. Now that's low
On the seventh day the lord rested. But before that he did, he squaded over the side of England, and what came out of him... was Ireland. 😂
I want to believe this was Jack who just arrived to New York. Because in the original Titanic movie their destination was New York.
Same, except the titantic was 1911, this movie takes place during the U.S cival war
Except that Gangs of New York was set about 60 years BEFORE Titanic.

You got chubby just writing this comment, huh?
I get why it was done...but I can't help but wonder how many instances of using cold, raw meat against a wound resulted in deadly infection.

I thought this movie was going to take home the Oscars. Instead, they gave itto Chicago. Sigh....

Yes of course, a 65 year old fighting a 25 year old that easily, sure.
Clearly you don't know old man strength
The bald actor was about 44 when this was filmed
