I appreciate used vintage items. I love that you are keeping it as is. It has a story. A history. Now, it has a bit of your story. I have some spinning wheels and spindles that I added my personality to and I'd love to find a vintage pen like this.
I suspect I have an eBay Frankenstein pen too but although the cap (pilot) fits snugly it does not post as snugly as it should! It has a beautiful manifold nib and it writes well so I am trying not to be too disappointed. I am new to this and may have paid over the odds … your pen looks beautiful. Enjoy!
Fun treatment of the cap! Why not? I love these little Japanese pocket pens. Near as I can tell from Richard Binder’s book on them, Platinum’s line were called “Poket” with models PK-* and PKW-*, and also sub-brands like Athena. I just tried swapping Platinum and Sailor caps. It’s close but not quite as good a fit as you have on your Frankenpen.
I see model numbers such as PKB 2000, PKG 4000 A etc.. for these Platinum pocket pens in some Vintage pen sites.. BTW, some sellers like Anderson pens still sell these pens (most likely NOS) for around $100..
I was also snickering when I found such a match in my Chinese pocket pen collection. most of them are not the right diameter or length even within the same brand, but here and there there are Pilot bodies that can take certain platinum caps, it was funny to discover.

Thanks! I too appreciate vintage items.

Nice pen, love what you did with the cap.
Thanks! It was fun to do.
Looks like you’re in the vintage fountain pen rabbit hole😊. Enjoy watching, thanks
I do like tinkering with old pens!

You can still find deals on ebay if you hunt around. Anderson pens has some nice vintage stuff at times.
@@PEIPenGuy I have a 70s Elite which I love
this is very interesting, it got me thinking how many possibilities out there to make a franken pen with modern pens that are not yet discovered haha
Endless combinations!

I was surprised by how exact it matched.
How many clicked this thinking it would be a pilot pen that came with a cap made from platinum?
I didn't even think of that!
