Before the car gets sent to the assembly line it gets sanded and polished by a specialised team that remove the clear coat lacquer "orange peel" and give it a "piano finish" im part of that team, love the videos!
That’s awesome Harry!
I hope one day to see ‘your work’ in person!
Hi, just wondering, is there an extra thic layer of clear lacquer applied to maintain enough depth when sanding, or are there just more "thinner" layers of clear? Your work is making something that "can't be seen", adding to the perfection. Paint is probably the most difficult and labour intense work to finish perfectly. A lot of respect for what you do!
@@EdwardV20 yeah there's 2 layers of clear coat after the base coat is applied. Each model is different in process times but phantoms EWB take the longest and I would say trickiest panel is probably the cullinan rear tail gate upper and lower. My favourite car to work on is the wraith or ghost:)
THAT PART IS WONDERFUL. GOOD JOB!!!!
@@ShogunHull thank you
Denim jeans and white leather? I'm not ready for electric cars. Please shoot me now I don't want to live in a world without a V8 roaring down the highways. Goodbye freedom.
"Post-opulence" smacks of BS design speak.
I cant believe ev's are coming so fast
If you think about it, they start working on models 2-3 years ahead of time. High end auto companies are facing the dilemma that if they develop a new model with a combustion engine, by the time it releases it will appear to be old technology or not cutting edge.
@@winstonzeb2842 more like 4-5 years I heard.
I gave your review a thumbs up. But your choice of "music" is quite disturbing.
Personally I would have bought a Ghost several times already, if ... it would be a little bit smaller, shorter (4.90-max 5.0m), narrower (1.85-max1.95m). Why, because I would like to use the car for long journeys on B roads/ rt départementales, crossing historic villages and cities (Italy, Spain, France), using public parkings. The size of a BMW 5series may-be. RR opulence and style of the interior would just be ideal. After the Black Badge versions it is the first time that I would appreciate the dynamics of a Ghost. I am used to Italian Supercars but in today's world of traffic and chicanes, the speed limitations, a.s.o. a RR attracts me more and more, if not... (see above)
I miss living in London. i Lived in South Kensington and also Lexham Gardens. It was swanky - posh as they say... had fun.
Hopefully hydrogen engines will have been properly developed by the time the next generation is being designed. JCB are developing hydrogen engines and Porche are working on synthetic petrol so the days of the big engine may not be over yet.
That’s going to be a gargantuan task! Generating it, transporting it, and pressurizing it into to a pressure vessel requires more energy than it saves not to mention its energy density when used in a cell is 1/3rd that of fossil fuels or 1/6 that of fossil fuels if combusted. Not to mention that H2 high pressure vessels are highly explosive if breached. Liquefying it into a cryogenic state to be held in an onboard dewar requires even more generating energy and dewars have their own quirks and limitations. It’s all a nice idea but not even remotely practical. My hope is that solid state batteries, once charging algorithms are fully learned and developed, solve some of the problems that LiIons leave behind. At least at the moment, things look relatively promising for solid states from a KVAh density, safety of transport, speed of charging, and charging cycles standpoint.
@@jumboJetPilot -- It's just scary how smart some people are!
And, as usual, the pall of reality imparted by smart folks like you kills the _'good ideas'_ we lesser car buffs might hope for :(
Thank you for your insights.
@@be5952 thank you! I certainly hope we can solve the world’s energy problems. I hope to at least impart that path onto others when I go solar this upcoming spring on a commercial building that I own. I hope others see what I did and decide to do the same. Anyway, cheers!
The Royal Oak Offshore in 43mm way way way to big for JWW's wrist.
@robert marton -- Or *_too_* big, even.
“Irons out the bumps in the road “ what a description😄.. nice
I’ve seen all RR Ghost reviews here. But I thoroughly enjoyed this.
In such a car, you don't drive in blue jeans, which can stain the seats, out of respect. Because it's not your car😉
You will plug your house into your Rolls Royce, not the other way around !!
OFF SHORE & OFF GRID !
Good presentation. Your video background music is disconsonant and made me feel ill.
I was about to post the *_'music'_** is horrendous* ---intrusive; incompatible with the subject matter and too loud.
Oh, and the introduction could be shortened to about 5 seconds--- *_tops!_*
If the car is driven by a driver then it’s not worth it to buy such an expensive vehicle in my opinion.
I like the white leather. In case I drop my ice cream as I’m driving along.
Is it too much to ask for a Rolls reviewer to not say "waft" or 'wafting"?
It’ll be interesting to see how RR do electric. Like you say, they’re not interested in the fastest or the lightest, they’re interested building the best car. Best riding, smoothest.
Whilst it’s here I love the current range of RR and the V12 engines. I’ve spent many an hour on the configurator building the most graceful of specs. I can imagine the customisation options are insane.
You know, after watching the EQS. Yeah, it would be interesting to see how RR (Or Bentley for that matter) goes about electrification, because their would be a lot of engineering effort in a ICE car that is suddenly redundant in a BEV.
We will have to see what happens.
Mate, love the videos and your personal brand but Brand JWW needs serious work on the backend. Did not think it would be so hard to get in touch with someone from customer service. It's been nearly a month now.
The 35% restock fee is the highest I’ve ever seen and it hurts a ton especially when return shipping is $50usd from the states.
I don’t think hitting up the comments in the RUclips videos would help much since it’s been a month. That’s so shitty though.
@@antoinewilliams129 out of options at this point. He has such a tailored front end and the backend is the complete opposite.
Thanks for the message and sorry to hear about this, please head to my Insta and email the address on the bio and I’ll look in to it personally 👍🏻
@@MrJWW done. Thanks!
The production values of this video are incredible. The drone shots are epic!
Honestly think the older ghost looked better
Screw EV i for one will not celebrate .
Great review as usual Jimbo but I think it would be better if you could take me on pub crawl in the roller! Please🙏🏻
The ruination of London's skyline is in keeping with the ruination of the Rolls Royce. Post opulence? The Rolls never WAS opulent. It was always in perfect and restrained taste. These current designs are garish and flashy and are primarily aimed at the Chinese/ Arab market for which they are perfectly suited.
I think RR will do a V8 hybrid in the mid-cycle update and full electric for the Ghost replacement. I just don't think the strict regulations will let RR have V12s into the mid and late 2020s
9:35 B-pillar ruins EVERYTHING about these post-BMW generations of Rolls-Royces. Probably the whatsit? The coupes - the Phantom Coupe, the Dawn and the other 2-door one, they get away with it, but then you have peasant folding seats to get into the back. Probably only forgivable on the Dawn - just!
The respect and appreciation you have for this quality brand comes through in your review and made me appreciate it just as much...thanks James..enjoyed this production immensely 👍🇬🇧
I love this new Ghost!! Great content!
that seat is much more confortable than my office chair!
Post Democratic, Post Covid, totalitarian technocracy ! Yippee !!
If the definition of "post-opulent" is expansive enough to include self-closing doors and a suspension system that uses cameras linked to GPS to smooth out the ride (and did I spot electric curtains in the rear?), then I’m puzzled as to what that term really means. Perhaps it’s that the Spirit of Ecstasy has significantly shrunk in size as compared to the ones back on the Clouds / Shadow / Wraith II / Corniche days, when the Palladian grill made a real statement.
Great start of the video to show London. I like everything about the Rolls Royce except I have to say the old school looking steering wheel. Is it just me or does this need to be brought into the 21st Century & not remind people of a 1972 Mercedes-Benz? Am curious to know Mr JWW if u agree?
In my opinion, Rolls Royce should use biofuel in the future instead of going electric, it will be more convinient, just fill up your tank and go for a road trip .
This is a movie! Right!!? everyone agrees right? no! NO! IM THE ONLY ONE...OK
"MINIMALISTIC" FOR A "ROLLS"? .. SUCKS. COULD MORPH EASILY INTO A CHEVY..JUST KEEP IT UP AND THAT'S WHERE A ROLLS WILL BE...IF THEY KEEP THAT NONSENSE UP. THE ROLLS..THE TOP CAR. DON'T MESS IT UP ANY MORE THAN YOU HAVE ALREADY.
I actually don't think the current gasoline powered Rolls will keep value at all. Yes it will be a bit more collectable but the point of the Rolls Royce is to give you a ride that is like you are on the cloud, isolated and serene. When Rolls becomes EVs, it would be even quieter with less vibration; and more flexibility of what kind of extravagant convenience/luxury feature it can have. Charging is not an issue because the ones who ride the Rolls would have drivers.
Porque no le Tengo miedo Al dios que es trajeron los hombres Blanco's Europeos El que tambien es mi enjendrador me asignara estos muebles
Forget about electric cars being the future. You won't be able to give them away soon. The whole climate emergency con is coming badly unstuck.
STOP, JUST STOP RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE. WE DON'T WANT A DAMN ELECTRIC ROLLS.
JUST KNOCK IT OFF, *BUCKO.*
Love this car. It'll love going electric your right. Weight doesn't matter and it'll be even more silent with effortless torque and pull which is all what this cars about. Itll even be more dynamic in the corners with all the batteries on the floor.
I do wonder if anyone has ever tried swapping an internal combustion engine into an electric car?
@@hyenaboy7504 I do believe a few people have done it I’m unsure though

@@vdubster Really, all you need to do is modify the drive train and install an ICE.
Love your presentation Mr JWW. Might I just take a second to admire how beautiful your dress code matches your choice of location for filming and beautifully blends with the color of the Rolls Royce Ghost? Wonderful as always!
I’d send the car back … seems that they stuck the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car / passengers side. 🇺🇸
I don't get the widespread enthusiasm for RR's new design language. In my eyes while the previous generation Phantom, Drophead, Ghost and Wraith were an exercise in restraint and powerful communication with the minimal amount of lines (the presence of these cars on the road...), the new Phantom, Cullinan and now the new Ghost - are simply horrendous. Overstyled, chaotic, busy. Just a design mess. They all look like Mansory conversions right from the factory - is this the feedback and clientele they have been listening to over the years?
RR has been aiming at the younger generation. So yeah probably
@1985whitelamborghinicountach -- I'd love to jump on this bandwagon, but I'd better be sure we're talking about the same thing.
By "previous generation", I assume you mean pre-2003? As that's when these 'new' models started all looking like...well, like they have for the last 19 years.
@@be5952 I was talking about 2003-2016 (or so). All the models I've mentioned from that period are some sort of a design statement, even the ones I'm not so fond of (Dawn).
FRONT SEAT AREA OF THE GHOST IS LOVELY. BACK SEATS...NOT SO MUCH AND THERE'S NO PARTITION.
Zero dollar in the pocket but watching Rolls Royce Ghost reviews

See you in the next 50 years when I can buy this car for 100 bucks lol
You don't have a watch with tourbillon ?! 🧐🤔🤢
1:38 that lady was looking at you like mate, why you walking in slow motion
A car with everything but a certain something.
Bit more tech detail would have been appreciated; it's a thing of unexpected beauty however
@Alex Newson -- I agree. More technical and feature details.
I thought he'd only got going when it was over??
This guy thinks is he is special .Lmao.
James, please, look up the J-Class sailing vessels and tell me if you see any comparison.
Why isn't it electric though? Would instantly make it much more refined.
Because electric cars still aren’t that practical for most people.
Next time you open that front boot, you might find a void or an option to find a huge luggage suitcase
There is nothing minimalistic in this car, it looks so old
What’s up with the watch on your wrist??
I had one for a few years and it was great for my bad back
LOOKS LIKE A CRYSLER FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE.
So what’s your opinion about next Lamborghini Countach model
I shall reserve judgment until I see it in reality 👀
How was the A-pillar & roof & C-pillar mounted on the Ghost before ?
RR marketing makes a big fuzz about that on the new Ghost, but I don't see any differnce.
Btw: Manufacturing of the BMW N74 engine will end in 2023 - curious what happens to the Ghost drivetrain then 😏
London is out on its own the Rolls Royce of cities.
Excellent work... loved that ;-)
Good work Jim 👍🏼🏴
EV actually makes sense for this product.
Lovely what a car ...
What you failed to notice, was The Queen coming back home to,Buckingham Palace, on the Range Rover, and police escorts 😀
ok mister rich rich
just a load of waffle
Still not a phantom!
EV Rolls will be super quiet with a gigantic front trunk. They could probably fit 2 super charging ports because price isn't an issue.
It's ironic to me that the design language includes such speak as "reduction in shut lines", which I applaud and find exquisite, while they then add a pinstripe that stands in opposition to that. Those elements are not cohesive and I personally would not spec it in such a way.
James, did you take any shots out the bloke's bogs up Shard; namely the video of the train tracks, I had a p*ss there when went for drinks mid last month, I had a ' not an English breakfast ' cocktail....

LOVE IT.
go big or go home ,very often in USA ...so why a middle size each 5er/5's deliver enough pleasure of driving
RR- is Phantom nothing else

AMAZING!!
What it does is steel my idea of the magic carpet ride that i wrote into autocar as a quiz for the futur of automobile, and though my idea has been taken up by mercedesand now rolls Royce it makes me wonder why I didn’t win because my idea was a winner, whole thing fixed and ideas stolen from participants
She's Pretty Notting Hill ... the Ghost is Absolutely Pretty as Well ... i love how they still Manage to keep Her Pretty Lines Regal & with all the High Teck features they Given Her to make your daily drive Perfection ... i felt at Peace just watching You drive Her ... Now thats crazy lol ... thanks for sharing James ... Cheers
Don't you mean a six and three-quarter litre V12, not a six and a half litre?
I love the rolls Royce ghost hopefully I get one in the near future if god willin 🙏🏾
Hi, great review -
Just wondering what brand and model your watch is in this video? Very nice. 👌
Hey Ben, it’s a Royal Oak Offshore 44mm Chronograph 👍🏻
@@MrJWW Thank you 😊
Is that road noise or likely the sound of AC in the vid?
@Khalistani --- I was wondering the same thing, given it's supposed to be such a quiet car.
Never heard so much background noise in any other Rolls Royce video reviews.
The new Watch Dogs Legion update looks good. It is nice to finally see that Albion has been chased out of London.
Sir which city has the most rolls Royce ?
Hong Kong has may be
How much is the cost for a fully speced ghost? What a beauty.
Looks like Chinese car. Seen it in person.
Beautiful car great review. Best car in the world! Probably.
Bet the metal sounds good on their sound system 🤘🏼

A butifule car of the super rich. A road Yat
Yep, all this electronic space-age wizardy .... yet the car still cant do f*ck about a flat tire
The cars come equipped with "run flat" tires.
Look at those cheap ass stalks. great video btw.
