    the funniest bit is when manuel just watches the ladder falling and makes no attempt to try and stop it,

      Manuel's done enough hard labour for Basil and also taken enough crap from him, well earned 🤣.

    Fawlty Towers is at its best when Basil has the makings of a point, when the guests really are being difficult. And you're not supposed to actually like Mr Johnson; note him serving his ladyfirend champagne in the toothbrush mug. All class, he is.

    For a moment there I thought it read he was peeing through the window, but this is much funnier

    Are there people alive today who don't get this type of comedy? If so, I've lived too long.

    Fawlty Tower represents typical British sense of humor stemming from its repressed anger at its lost empire which it feels it still deserves instead of such nations as for instance the barbaric and uncivilized US of A😁

    • @SojourningOnline
      @SojourningOnline 2 месяца назад +1

      You are reading far too much into it mate! It's simple comedy that's all. It wouldn't have been a joke if people had "repressed anger". I know I was 18 when this was aired and the empire was a distant memory and generally not looked back on with any pride. After all, we had all experienced the 1960's. You seem to have problems with the US too. The US was still looked up to in those days and admired, even after Vietnam. I hope that you come to terms with whatever is driving you to come to such nasty interpretations. Maybe then you will have a sense of humour!
