    I had a ‘77 Verde Pino Alffetta for 5 years from 1990. That car, and especially that colour, is burnt into my soul.

    Aside from the engine problems identified from the sound of the car in the video by people who I assume are experts or knowledgable. It’s quite refreshing to see that the guy could transmit his passion for cars to his fiancé and that she also participated in the video.

    • @kirbyswarp

      Onur Mutlu stelvio is garbage as crossovers are inherently missing a chromosome.

    • @23Shadowfox23

      for a crossover, the stelvio is one of the best. (imo)

      kirbyswarp Stelvio make crossovers fun to drive and stylish. Actually Stelvio is not the first suv in Alfa’s history. If you research it, you will see Alfa has a suv in 1960s.

    Il est temps de combler cette lacune...
    Forza Alfa Romeo !!!

    I typed in "Pino Verde" (which is the name of my father Giuseppe\Pino Verde, he was a singer of Neapolitan folk popular songs, I lost him September 2016 at age 66) to watch for few seconds my father singing just to think of him and this video came up, it says "Alfa Romeo Alfetta:Verde Pino", the title has the name of my father in it but it was obvious was referred to some element in the video; I clicked to watch the Alfa Romeo Alfetta which my father owned when I was a kid back in 1980 bringing many nostalgic melancholic memories; and another curious thing is, the founder of Alfa-Romeo his name was Romeo and if I am not wrong was from the city myself my whole family and my father is from S.Antimo-Naples.

    • @davidebassini2044
      @davidebassini2044 6 лет назад

      Pino it's a name but means also Pine tree in Italian, so in this case is reffered to the colour: pine tree (pino) green (verde)

    I love Alfa Romeo Alfetta. Dad had quite a few & I learned how to drive with one of the later model Alfetta. The Alfa Romeo 75 (Milano) was a perfect continuation of Alfetta, IMO. Such superb road handling.

      In your opinion, does the Alfa in the video have engine problems or do they just sound like that naturally?

    • @StevenJeNova
      @StevenJeNova 6 лет назад

      philberto78 It does have a problem, as far as I can tell. The Alfetta should have a distinctive-, lean "growl", the Alfa growl. The timing is shot to Hell, here.

    I love almost all British and European cars but sometimes tire of seeing classic coupes and sport sedans in red. Ferrari's, Porsche's, BMW's etc to me look better in colors other than the cliche red. But that's not necessarily the case with Alfa's. I think Alfa Romeo's, esp GTV's look spectacular in Rosso Corsa. That being said this awesome Alfa sedan looks beautiful in Verde Pino.
    The more I learn about Alfa's the more I understand the passion exhibited by the Alfisti (or Alfista?)
    This video shows that sedans can be as much fun as coupes. And enthusiast's can be just as enthusiastic about sedans as well. Great job Petrolicious!

    Bought my first Alfa in 1967, it was my first car. Many alfas followed, the last being iterations of Alfettas. They were the straw breakers, I got out of Alfas then, I needed cars that would last for years without breakdowns and rust-outs. Audis did the trick for many years, a 2016 Mazda MX5 is in the garage now, a wonderful car.

    He was loyal to Alfa and had a 2.0 Gulietta and after that an Alfa 75.
    After is death my mother drove the Alfa 75 for many years.
    She bought a Peageot 305 automatic. And my brother and me keep the Alfa 75 for years.......
    Finely we sold the car and as far as I know the car is still a live.

    The "Boxer engine" in the Alfetta? Really?! Do you know what a boxer engine is?
    The "metallic rumble" characteristic of the boxer engine? Really? On which planet?
    Anyway, that Alfetta has some engine problem: the distribution? It sounds really bad, that "metallic rumble" needs to be fixed.

    • @mcstaal
      @mcstaal 6 лет назад +8

      Bad translation. He talks of alfa Romeo in general. The Alfa boxers were known for their metallic rumble on downshifts and their rasping sound in very high revs.

    • @paolopetrozzi2213
      @paolopetrozzi2213 6 лет назад +15

      Bad translation? No. He says it in french.
      He talks of Alfa Romeo in general?! No. There was only one Alfa Romeo not racing car wth a boxer engine, the Alfasud in 1971 (and her daughter ("33"), and nephews ("145/146"); so you can't say that "In general" the Alfa Romeos have boxer engines.
      Which means that he really believe that his Alfetta has a boxer engine (sigh!) and that its "metallic rumble" is part of it. He is referring to that metallic rumble.
      Not to mention that the "... downshifts and ... high revs"is common to many other cars from that period.
      Somebody sold him a car with engine problem telling him that that rumors are typical frome the Alfa Romeo boxer engine, that's all; and he doesn't know nothing about the Alfa Romeo;, and cars in general, if he is not able to recognize that rumor. "My Know-how"?! Mah...

    My dad owned 2 Alfettas 1.8. the earlier model had wooden steering wheel, the later model "fake leather" black 3 years later he bought a second hand Alfetta 2.0 with rectangular headlights. the 1.8 looked much more aggressive with quad round headlamps. Sadly it was not as reliable as Toyota or Honda so toward the latter part of his life, he got rid of his Alfa collections and drove Subaru. But what a sweet memory back then.

    Perhaps some valves or ignition could be adjusted. But when I remember a Alfetta 1,8 back in the day it was 1978 I think I was ten year old and my dad had a BMW E21 520i in his second hand shop with 130hp. I always admired that deep red Alfetta with the 122hp Engine and that characteristic growl from the transverse exhaust. Somehow with the modification in 1977 the car lost many of its charme for me the square lights and door handles were without any refinement.

    • @cbca6567

      titanus49 aside knowing Alfa's history or not, the matter is, he has no clue whether his green Alfetta is working properly or not.

      Does indeed sound like that, and no it's not an Alfa thing ;) Sounds more like rattling valvestems or something worse. There must be nicer Alfetta's to be found for Petrolicious..

    The Alfetta was the best car in its class when launched in 1972 and retains an exotic air from the platform, front engine rear transaxle and rear inboard discs ( low unsprung weight) with dedion axle and watts linkage, plus torsion bars at the front (low unsprung weight) and rack and pinion steering, improving on every aspect of the older Giulia. Unfortunately the green car in the video is not tuned well at all and should be very smooth and responsive right trhougb the rev range. Also too much music in the video and not enough car sound!

    The Alfetta never had a boxer engine, the smaller Alfasud did. Sounds like the music was cranked up to disguise the poor condition of the engine.

    petrolicious seems to be getting too worried about cinematography rather than on car, artsy is good but in every scene you see just trees, shadows, gloves, and the car for like a second. Loud music just too much. Early petrolicious seemed more genuine now it just seems pretentious. I used to get excited for Tuesday to watch each episode, now I just watch them if the car is decent. Car selections are just odd and not in a good way.

    Alfa have made some very pretty cars but IMO this is not one of them, way too boxy (could've been a generic '70s Datsun/Toyota/Nissan, without the badge).
    Still, as the French say: _Il faut de tout pour faire un monde_ ...

    Une voiture vivante bruit superbe et du punch, j'ai eu la chance de rouler en Alfetta en passager et au volant d'une Guillietta 1800 équipée du même moteur .... j'ai une Mégane dci en voiture de prét aujourd'hui quelle déprime par rapport, j'ai envie de la bruler , je la déteste..

    This couple is nice, and the Alfetta GORGEOUS !..But they are obviously NOT REAL "ALFISTES" !!..Tristant worked only for 3 years for Alfa, between 2017 - 2020, as "commercial adviser" ( or so ) in France. Now he works for Porsche in Canada...!! A REAL "ALFISTE" WOULD NEVER, NEVER HAVE CHANGED, especially after only 3 years !.....this video probably helped his business.

    Uh, whatever. I can't thumbs down the video, but I thumbs down the car. I know folks who drive some terrible shit boxes here in the states, but they absolutely LOVE their car. I couldn't imagine you guys doing a story like that. I guess maybe because it's European and they speak French it doesn't seem like such a bad idea.
