I am Brazilian, and about in year 2000 we have just got cable TV at our home, when I saw my pre-teenage boys addicted to a TV show, that I thought it was quite complex for them to understand - in English with English subtitles - but that was it, The West Wing. I immediately got addicted too, it was a politics and history class for me, I was interested in how the US Government works, the inside of the White House, the characters in the Bartlet administration were my heroes. Later on we bought all the DVDs, I have them to this days, I can play them in my laptop with an external drive, and from time to time I watch some episodes. Good time were those! Congrats, Aaron Sorkin, you’re a genius!Martin Sheen, you’re a great actor, congrats for the fantastic job you did as a Nobel Prize winner and President Bartlet!
My favorite, "Just so you know, 'crime, boy I don't know', that's when I decided to kick your ass." (I know it's not 100% exact on the quote, but it's my favorite).
Jed Bartlett is a fictional character without a doubt; however the man acted like a President ought to be? Yes it a phenomenal acting job. This man went in front of the camera; and acted as a President should be.
The speech where he mentions the bombing at a college while “I don’t like Mondays” (a song inspired by a school shooter) plays always gets me in the gut. Masterful writing.
That's exactly why this was the line. It was intentional. He was finally finished. He didn't have to worry about "what's next?" anymore. He could just enjoy tomorrow.
There was a scene with Bartlett and psychologist Stanley Keyworth about dreams ... Keyworth said that dreams about airplane means Death. Last shot of the entire show was Airforce One ... Tomorrow... Bartlett home .. death.
The first 4 seasons are the best TV to ever exist. Aaron Sorkin leaving prevented the show from winning best Drama Series at the Emmys for every season of its existence. Phenomenal show and by far my favourite
HOW in the world do you include his opening scene in the premiere but not include his first actual words? "I am the Lord, your God! Thou shalt worship no other God before me!". Most brilliant character entrance of any show I have ever seen.
This show was amazing, but what was great about Bartlet was how he embodied almost every President in every sense (e.g., Carter and the peace talks, or Reagan making tough war-time decisions) - it's a wonderful composite, which is why we love him: he's the best of every president that existed by the time the series was created. Simply brilliant.
The most remarkable thing is his honesty and integrity - something in grotesquely short supply in the GOP, and not common enough in any of America's political life. Money is not speech it is bribery.

The last clip where Abby asks Jed what's he thinking about.....he answers , "Tomorrow." That was right out President Clinton's campaign during which he used the song by Fleetwood Mac, "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow."
