I’ve made my own version that doesn’t require you to back into your garage, but this is pretty cool. I’m going to make a video too, but I need to clean up my garage first. Got every horizontal surface covered at the moment.

    Great video!
You could attach the weight to the balancer line independent of the charging cord. No need to magic tape it and no chance for it to slip off.
    Thanks for the great idea.

I would like to see the cable held in the middle, like at a gas station.

good idea but I'm looking for the retractor with an auto lock system to avoid extra weight on the charging handle.

Nice. The cable should perhaps be further back on the charger since it is touching the lid when engaged creating a wear point and possible breakage issues.

Very good eyes, I agree... minor room for improvement :) But it's really minor touching honestly, it doesn't put any pressure on the lid at all. I have been using this every day since we got the car for 1 year, I can tell you this has been working great!!!

good idea, but wouldn't it make more sense to make a mild clamp on the cable a ways up and then you may not need the weight? or the weight is not near the plug (more like a long gas station tube has.) also all the safety backups are not needed unless you fear it will break if driven over. the things should handle being on the ground in the rare case it fails. I used a counter weight instead; but I like your use of a tool spring!

Thanks for the comment. Indeed, you are right. You can attach the weight to the cable technically like gas station. However, the fitness weight is a very simple solution and everyone can find in your local hardware or fitness store.
