    The best video on Blum under-mount slides. The way you measure for the drawer width using the installed slides is simply genius! I think I can actually do this and not have to redo it 3 times to have it come out right. Thanks!!

    EXCELLENT Video! For real. Exactly what I was looking for. The jigs for drilling the hole, not making the back go all the way down so I don't have to notch. Perfect tips.

    Thank you -- The blum slides come with instructions I need an engineer to understand. The trick about measuring the width was most important.

    Great video. I found your channel searching for a cabinet project for my Class A RV remodel. My plan is to build a box and mount my exhisting drawers in it. (and do upgraded soft close slids on the drawers.) Then modify the exhisting OEM cabinet for the new box (that has the drawers in it) by using undermount slides like you show here. The top of the box will be covered in counter top that matches the rest of the coach. (Former Secretary Desktop) This will give me more food prep space and can also be used as a laptop table to the couch that is next to that kitchen cabinet. In my interior remodel I've lost some cabinets and countertop space so this will allow me to regain this.
    Good video, I can see how these undermounts will give me more spacefor the box so I can reuse the original oak faced drawers. And yes, those drawers will slide out of the new box like before. Think camp kitchen style like one would build to put in the back of a pickup where they usually have the stove and sink in the top.

    Great video Robert. I have found that the easiest way to figure out drawer size is to measure the opening snd subtract 42 mil. Which is 15/8". This gives you the front/back dimensions. Thanks, love your channel.

    You need to let people know that the measurements are different with thinner drawer sides. And that there are different slides for different width of drawer sides. 1/2-5/8 and 3/4 thick material use different slides 😏

    Greetings and thanks for the fabulous tutorial. So will this or something similar work to mount under or on the sides of a plastic or aluminum (battery) tray?? Thinking converting my bench seats into a storage space whereby I can install a sliding platform/shelf for three 12 volt deep cycle (fairly heavy) batteries.

    • @DaileyWoodworks

      It all depends on if the drawer is sized appropriately for the slides. My first guess would be probably not possible to retrofit on existing drawers

    Nice explanation. Me personally, i notch the back board. Seems resetting table saw to cut a different length and then also having to under nail your drawer bottom would take twice as much vs just notching the back out. Just another opinion

    Great video! What the depth of your front set back for the draw slide? I use half dovetails when making my drawers which calls for a little tricky measuring for the draw size. After watching your video I change to pocket holes.

    Do these work if drawer bottom is flush with drawer sides? No recess underneath the drawer. Looking to use these for a slide out drawer under sink or stove for pots and pans. Using side mounts, I lose 10 inches (5" on each side) for spacer need.

  • @RedcarWW
    @RedcarWW 3 года назад

    This is great, but you don't talk about the depth. I'm installing these with no back wall to measure against. My plan is to put two drawers back to back with a 1" gap. Reading the engineering documentation for the 9" Blum draw slide, my min is 11-1/8" and the max is 12-3/4". If I read this correctly I can make my drawer 11-1/4" deep. That will give the 1" I am looking for between the two drawers. In fact I could make that 11-1/2" giving me 1/2" between both. This makes sense now. Thanks

  • @danthechippie4439

    How did you determine the draw depth? Is it 21" (in a 21" version for example) from the very front of the draw slide to the rear, or 21" from the front to the back of the pin?
    Maybe I'm thinking to much and just build the draw to whatever size it says on the draw slide box

    • @DaileyWoodworks
      @DaileyWoodworks  2 месяца назад

      I build my drawer boxes whatever depth the drawer slide is labeled for. So if it’s a 21” slide the box is 21” long

    • @DaileyWoodworks
      @DaileyWoodworks  Год назад

      That’s hard. Make sure to get the adjustable latches so you can fine tune the reveal.
      I’d start with the slide at least 1/8” back from where you want the back of the drawer face to sit. Then get one drawer aligned then base your setback based on that first drawer for the rest
