If all native speakers talk as you talk and as you pronounce words That mean I got American accent And my language improved to become very good Thank you my teacher Kim Rabee from Iraq
There are many different American accents. I speak with the general American accent, although you can hear my regional dialect in the way I pronounce certain short vowels. Remember, I'm an educator and I know how to speak clearly to be understood. However, if you follow my advice, you will be able to improve how you sound by focusing on what's important for clear communication.
English with Kim I’m all ears to listen your advice. If I got mistake in word or explain cuz I’m non native and my language still need more development
Hi Kim. I need some advice. How can I practice Intonation at home or give me some tips/exercises. I'll appreciate. I have problems with that especially with Falling intonation at the end of the sentences.
Hi Mary! As you know, intonation is extremely important, and it takes practice to get more comfortable with the rises and falls mid-sentence and at the end of sentences. You'll also need to practice sentence stress so that your overall intonation sounds more natural. If you want to practice at home on your own, you can find an article in English and practice reading it out loud with attention to stress and intonation. For example, see what I demonstrate during the second half of this video: ruclips.net/video/s4OTHrz9zFM/видео.html That said, I have a couple of courses on stress and intonation that include tons of practice exercises and drills. You can sign up for my free intonation challenge to get started: intonationchallenge.com Feel free to email me through my website with any specific questions!
In the sentence you wrote in your comment, "got" would be stressed: I've GOT a LOT of exAMples. When "get" is being used as an action verb, it will be stressed.
If I say "You're the best," I might release the "t" at the end, but the puff of air isn't super forceful. My point is about backing off of the sound, rather than overpronouncing it. When "best" is linked to other words, the "t" is absorbed into the "th" sound, as in "That's the best thing that ever happened to me": bes-thing.
Yes, we tend to link words that end in the same consonants or consonants that have a similar mouth position. In some cases, the sound can even change, but it's more important to focus on the reductions first!
This playlist has all of my best advice on working towards an American accent: ruclips.net/p/PL81YJkck6j1v3egpq5hjmPqZ3-Y8iFL4M However, sometimes what you need to do is learn to speak more clearly. Try this video: ruclips.net/video/9jEP6sLyKkA/видео.html
hi kim, it not a joke!there is an english learning channel where includes videos about english pronunciation, accent etc, but the teachers are indians and they do sound like indians nevertheless they do teach english pronunciation. believe it or not,.that channel get millions of subscribers.i can't understand the people's stupidity. i left the following comment to them. "excuse me, do you teach indians pronunciation or English?"
There are several countries where you will find people who speak a regional dialect of English, such as India. While most Indians do not speak English as a first language, some do, and many Indians have been educated their whole lives in English and are near-native speakers. Because of the influence of other local languages, this gives them a regional dialect with its own characteristics and accent. In particular, Indian English tends to be syllable-timed with different intonation patterns, which is what you probably hear. Remember, even within English-speaking countries, you'll hear a lot of regional accents, some of which are quite strong. The Boston accent is one example. Other countries which have many native speakers who speak a more "global" variety of English include Singapore, Nigeria, the Philippines, Jamaica, Belize, and many others! Even New Zealand English and South African English can sound really different from the American/British accents. While these videos might not appeal to you if you're interested in working towards an American accent, they do help a lot of people who use English as a lingua franca, or a language of communication.
@@Englishwithkim i know what you mean but the point is they do, at least in their opion ,teach amarican accent or 🇬🇧 . i can't tell apart of course. that ,freaks me out!i agree with ya about teaching English as franka lingua helps a lot but not teaching American accent being rubbish at it
