    Back in the early 1990's Univ of Michigan bought about 150 of the trucks and mini vans. They then parked them and could not drive them anywhere on campus. Only on north campus could we operate the in the baits complexes and the Northwoods apt areas. Cops would try to ticket you crossing the road...lol! I used it by hiding them on the hiking trails and back sidewalks. Most were sold at property disposal for about $300.00 each. Keep an eye out there as they keep finding the where they parked away for lack of use. Cheap.

    I live in Philippines past few years and now I own Suzuki every wagon DA64W and just bought newer one 2019 model year DA17W and I’m in love with these small vans, they can carry up to 6 people and still have lots of room at back for storage
    My trucks are newer so they both come with many safety standard features including all power options even both rear sliding doors, power side steps, pre collision warnings, traction control etc.
    Back in Canada I used to drive Cadillac, BMW, Lincoln and more other luxury cars but these multicabs (it’s what they called here) stole my heart.

      Found it out, for anyone who wants to know. This is the Joypop Sound which has a cool speaker in the back of the car and for some reason the speaker also has an air cleaner in it too. So the hi / low is for the fan speed. For anyone who doesn't know, the Japanese lounge in their cars a lot, so this was probably for playing tunes and lounging in the car without it getting stuffy.

    10:18 Fat chance, dude, the AZ-1 is the BEST kei car.
    It's expensive and will continue to be because:
    - Only 5000 were ever made between the AZ-1 (4500) and Suzuki Cara (500) (exact numbers are +/- a few dozen) vs. Beats and Cappuccinos that were around 30k produced each
    -Probably only half of that still exist today, so 2500 still on the road
    -It was more expensive than pretty much all other kei cars when it was new, so that higher price carries through.
    -They have the fastest kei engine (turbo F6A, maybe K6A is slightly faster but not enough to matter), round headlights that everyone likes, gullwing doors, the most exotic looks, it's without a doubt the most pure performance kei car. Cappuccino is just an oddly proportioned NB Miata and the Beat is cool but the engine just doesn't keep up with turbo keis.
    -They have a huge curb appeal that steals the show from Ferraris, etc.
    -Even Deloreans that are about the same straightline performance but offers gullwing doors and similar exotic looks sell for like $70k in really nice shape nowadays, so an AZ-1 for $20k is a downright bargain by comparison.
    Everything else in the kei world kept on moving and there will always be a newer and better kei car/truck/van on the horizon that keeps prices down. In fact, I'd argue some of the best cars/vans are still 1-5 years away from being import legal, especially from a maintenance and overall ownership perspective.
    The AZ-1 is just a piece of history that will never be made again, count your blessings they don't cost more than they do because I only see them going up long term, they're only dipped right now because of the recession.

    • @Waybeforethefame
      @Waybeforethefame  Год назад +1

      Just because something is limited doesn’t make it the best lol
      It’s the most expensive kei although…
      It’s not the fastest kei
      It’s not the most practical
      Parts are expensive
      Interior is very small
      Windows don’t even go down all the way
      Only thing that make it “cool” is the doors and limited protection numbers

    • @nunyabusiness896
      @nunyabusiness896 Год назад

      @@Waybeforethefame No, being limited doesn't make it the best, but being the only one truly built like an exotic does.
      You don't buy it for the practicality and it was never built for that. Though the over-the-shoulder room can carry more than people give it credit for, it's more room than the trunk in a Beat.
      It *is* the fastest kei, or at least tied for fastest. I don't mean 87 mph limited top speed, I mean acceleration. Cappuccino and Alto Works are similar, but they don't look like an AZ-1, they look like a weird Miata and a fancy Geo Metro respectively. Not the same.
      "Windows don't go down all the way", lmao, dude, buy a Crown Victoria if that's criteria you care about, I never roll windows down in anything. The fans will blow your face off and the air intake is the hood scoop right in front, you have no need to roll windows down even with the A/C off.
      The interior is also not that bad, people are just brainless and don't do things like get a dished wheel or a steering spacer which alone makes it infinitely more comfortable. 99% of the cramped feeling is because the default wheel spacing is meant for people like 5' tall. You can add spacers to a race-style wheel, you can't take it away, and they knew that when they designed it, but people can't think for 2 seconds and buy a $30 spacer.
      The AZ-1 is the best kei and you know it, you're just somehow think saying otherwise on youtube will dip the market enough to buy one cheap. Everyone knows better, ain't gonna happen, they aren't getting any cheaper than they are now. Nobody else ever made a kei Ferrari and no one else ever will, that's why it's the best and always will be.

    • @Waybeforethefame
      @Waybeforethefame  Год назад

      @@nunyabusiness896 nah man the Az-1 is the worse kei car by far. No kei car should be 20k + regardless if it’s the “Ferrari” of the kei world. It shares the same motor as 2 cars that are half the price and just as fun to drive. The only thing the Az1 has are those doors and “status”. if you show up to a car meet ina AZ1 your one of the coolest people there but at 20k + it’s worth it AT ALL. You can buy real JDM cars at price.
      And with all that being said, my goal before 2024 is buy an az1 been saying this all year, so stay tuned. Hopefully one will be coming to the channel sooner than later 😂

    • @nunyabusiness896
      @nunyabusiness896 Год назад

      @@Waybeforethefame Being expensive doesn't make something bad, lol. You can say it's a bad *value*, and I'd agree with you, if you want the most for your money you want a non-turbo kei truck or kei van, a turbo Wagon RR or Alto Works, or something like a turbo Jimny or Pajero. If you're cash strapped, those are all great values.
      But if you can only have one kei and want the best, ACTUALLY the best kei car that will ever be created the same way Ferrari reigned over everything in the 80's, it's the AZ-1, hands down, no question. It is the purest performance kei ever created, all of the rest are heavily compromised in some way. And I'd infinitely take it over any "real JDM" you could get for $20-25k.

    Kei is about the size of the vehicle and the size of the engine. The only Kei's where you are over the wheels are the trucks and vans ... you are dismissing a lot of Kei vehicles there. :)
    In Japan they consider Kei cars, Kei Trucks, and Kei Vans as 3 different categories.
    Suzuki Suzulight and Subaru 360s were like 1950s Kei cars (and INCREDIBLY SLOW), but they were Kei cars, not trucks or vans.
    That said, I get what you are saying about the utility of the Kei van.

    • @Scoots1994
      @Scoots1994 Год назад

      @@Waybeforethefame Yeah, I know you know what Kei is ... but they don't think of Kei Vans as Kei Cars ... they have them in different classes. And while the trucks and vans are very popular there are a lot of cars that fit. I just can't dismiss it. Like Smart cars qualify as Kei cars that I clearly wouldn't consider the same as a Beat and clearly not as cool.
      But generally I agree that the Beat/Capuccino/AZ are not nearly as usable as the vans and trucks, but they are so small and generally considerably slower even than Miatas and MR2s and comparable Fiats/BMWs/Alfas I can't put them in the same category as those cars.
