I take painting so seriously, I stress about it being perfect and knowing exactly what I'm making, getting it to be as precise as possible, and forget that painting is supposed to be fun and even relaxing, not everything I paint needs to be a masterpiece. Not everything has to have purpose beyond "because it's fun" or "It relaxes me". Thanks for reminding us of that even as you show us how to make such a lovely piece :)
A great example of layering the colours. You could be forgiven for thinking that lavender is just one colour, but you really brought the flowers to life. Any passing 🐝would be happy to visit. I always have lavender in my garden and the bees love it, but the pesky mosquitos don't so it is great to plant it near where you sit in those balmy summers evenings x
I love your video. I put on a candle, made lavender camomile tea and really relaxed while painting. My first did not come out as well as I wanted but I’m a beginner and you really gave me confidence. I tried a second canvas a few days later and am so pleased. This one is so beautiful and calming I am going to give it as a gift. Your voice is so soothing and you are a wonderful teacher My daughter and I went to a lavender farm and I’m going to give it to her to remember that day. Thank you!
Lovely painting! I work in healthcare and painting is a wonderful way to escape the stress of what is going on. Thank you Katie for facilitating the peace and calm art can bring.
As a beginner and doing my art therapy to heal my PTSD, I want to appreciate your art work and all your tutorials here. Sharing your skills such a huge help for me. Thank you ❤️🥰 … love, from London here
Katie - this is beautiful AND relaxing. I like how you layer and layer. I keep thinking - no ! no! I like it there ! Then watch it as it transforms before me. AMAZING. Good choice in lavender. My bush grew huge this year and I dried some for gifts and some for tea. Like it with chamomile and a bit of honey. Thanks again. Hope to try this one.Working on the last one now. 🙂
Aw wow thank you so so much. I really appreciate that 🥰 oh that sounds beautiful! I have some lavender in the garden but they’re all tiny at the moment. Can’t wait till they grow a bit bigger. 💜
So lovely. I realized as I was watching that it was a while since I'd taken a really good, deep breath. Thank you Katie. And lavender is my favorite, so I'm off to do this one now!
I don't know which calms me more, painting or watching someone else paint so this is lovely! Lavender scent is one of the most calming for me, can't wait to light a candle and follow the tutorial. Thank you for sharing! 🖤✨
Well done Katie, I did this painting this afternoon. I admit I get very tense when I paint, for fear of having to start over, but this was very relaxing. Must be the colors. You are a very good teacher.
Thank you for bringing calm into my week! I love the painting! So Beautiful! I could easily watch you for 10 hours. Thank you for these weekly tutorials. I am watching them and enjoying them so much. God Bless!
Beautiful as always. Re some ideas, how about some Christmassy themes, like holly and it's berries, Robins, Christmas snowy scenes. And Sunflowers, I LOVE sunflowers, they're such a happy flower and never fail to make me smile xx
A wonderful picture Katie. I would love a painting tutorial with Acrylic of fields of flowers in Abstract please. You are helping me so much with my painting. Thank you.
Some snow covered mountains and little mountain streams ….anything related to nature would be great!! I love your idea of gifting painting to loved ones makes it extra special when so much thought and time goes into it . 😍
Love this!!! & by the way...I think many of us would love "10 hr tutorials "!!! I am a $10 a month Patreon member of Angela Anderson & she actually does in depth paintings in part...about 2hrs ea weekly...til complete. She also does another tier on Patreon that may well go into about 4-5 hrs...AND SHE HAS HUNDREDS OF US!!!!( I mean hundreds & hundreds & hundreds!!!). You may well be surprised how many may just want to follow along to some hours long tutorials!
Oh wow that’s really interesting- I’d never have even thought about doing that. It’s a good idea because obviously most paintings take a lot longer than 20-30 mins. I will bear this in mind for future videos 🙌🏻
Have you thought about painting a Mk.1 Austin Metro and doing a tutorial on it? I love your tutorials and do it with my 12 year old son and 10 year old daughter. They are so excellent. And you are so clever. Thank you.
Peter you can find the colours in the Dropbox above the comments. There is a little arrow pointing down on the right hand side (just under the video). Press that and the colours are under Products used. ☺️
I don't like to put that stress on friends and family by gifting them a painting. Unless.... you go through the trouble of making sure it goes with their decor... I have been given so many paintings by my in-laws and very few of them are actually hanging on the wall because they don't go with my decor .. I feel bad and they probably feel bad because they don't see it on the wall when they come over.. Its just a whole thing... So i wouldn't 'force' my paintings on anyone... However if they see it at my home and ask for it well thats a different story.. Just my opinion... Look forward to anything you paint... The length is really not an issue since i can skip around or come back several times to finish it... I watch short tutorials up to a couple hours...and would probably watch a 10 hour tutorial over several days... weeks.. It would depend on the subject matter... I like flowers and nature... nothing too too abstract... i find i also like still lifes...

That is sooooo true Raven! And it’s something I forget myself from time to time. It’s nice to take off the pressure and just play with the materials 💜
I needed this…I’m so hard on myself and often forget this is supposed to be a fun relaxing hobby

Of which brand you use acrylic paints
really great. Your sap green mixed with white looks so ...yellow green?? what brand is it? or is it just the lighting??
Hi, what brand are your brushes? And how to avoid brush strokes on a bigger painting when you blend the background with a bigger brush?

Hi Katie can you please name the paint colors you use please?
Peter you can find the colours in the Dropbox above the comments. There is a little arrow pointing down on the right hand side (just under the video). Press that and the colours are under Products used. ☺️
I'd like to see the way you painted in the lavender foliage. It's hard to see your strokes.
