      Idk about everywhere, but a lot of people give away grand pianos, they take up a lot of room, very hard to sell, and are hard to transport so you usually need to sell locally. (Obviously they wouldn’t be new like this but yeah)

      @@michaelfoxbrass I don’t think it is. It’s just that the starting notes are a bit similar, but once he hits the second diminished chord it’s very clear that this is “It could happen to you”. That song has a signature chromatically rising bass, and a diminished on second and fourth chord of the first bar. At 2:37 his left pinky play that signature rising bass note (Eb E F F#).

      @@JayChokdee I would say it is on the slow boat to china because of the melody bits in the beginning. On a slow boat and it could happen's chord progressions are basically the same. And the diminished chords might just be that he is using them as substitutions to dominant chords. Well it really doesn't even matter what the song it is.

      @@topiliski1497 I’m pretty sure it’s “it could happen to you.” If you listen to to Ryo Fukui’s album “Scenery,” he plays this tune, and trust me it’s the same chord progression. I have a good ear lol.
      I’m not too familiar with Slow Boat, but it could be the case that both share the same progression, as many jazz standards do

      Speaking just for myself, I honestly hated jazz until I was like 20, because my only idea of jazz was something like Coltrane's Ascension. People can have their first experience be that album and still love it, but it wasn't for me. I think there may also be some association between jazz and background music (or "muzak") that feels boring and uninspiring. So those are two conflicting reasons for my own history, can't claim they apply to anyone else.

Despite many times trying, trying different artists and styles of jazz it just never clicked. Then one day it just did. I have no idea but it did, I find it can be so relaxing, so exciting, dramatic. So I guess just be persistent lmao

      I think some people just hear the wrong moments.
      It's like reading a book but only a paragraph every 5 pages; Strange and dissonant.
      I still have a hard time with jazz. But damn, some of those notes, chords, etc. just catch you the right way.

      I would play the crap out of this Kawai, when I was in music school sometimes they would let us rehearse on a beautiful Yamaha grand piano in the main concert hall, and I’m telling you, playing on a great piano like that feels like your soul is enchanted, you never want to stop!

      That’s definitely the mic/mixing, it’s very hard to tell whether a piano is warm or bright by recording, you really gotta be there in person (I’m not saying it isn’t, just that it’s hard to tell)

      Wish there were more YT channels of people just jamming on a piano. Plenty of channels that cover tutorials or sheet music, a few really good ones on music theory, but not a lot where it's just someone playing without thinking about all that!

      @@tucker6072 no. That's just a normal enclosure pattern played thousands of times on minor chords. It was part of the Mario kart lick, sure, but the reason THAT guy played it is because it's such a popular shape. The Mario kart solo is great, but it's not like every phrase in it is completely original material.
