this is the true sound of the horn, wonderful
One of the best performances you will ever hear on the Weiner Horn. Bravo ! Fantastiche! 🎉
Without doubt the very best I’ve ever heard!! Absolutely stupendous playing.
Easily the best rendition of the call I've ever heard.
Certainly one of the nicest, but you should also hear Roland Berger ( Vienna, Solti) and Gerd Seifert ( Berlin, Von Karajan). You might say the same thing. :)
Herr Dorfmayr sounds great in all of the videos I have been watching recently. When I studied in Vienna back in the early 70's I used to go to the Symphoniker concerts all the time. I have a soft spot for that group. Did you also hear Herr Dorfmayr playing the Mozart Concerto #4 first movement? It's really beautiful. I'm just now enjoying his playing for the first time and I am really glad I did. Very impressive playing!
@@hornerinf I’ve not heard his Mozart 4. But I really like the rendition of Mozart 3 he did on this channel with a chamber orchestra as opposed to a full symphony. I love hearing the instruments as individual voices as opposed to sections.
I own the Solti-Vienna Ring Cycle recordings, and I consider them definitive. I still prefer Herr Dorfmayr’s rendition of the horn call to Berger’s. As for Seifert, I don’t listen to Karajan nearly as much as I do Solti, but if I recall it’s more a piercing and precise German call than a visceral and sumptuous Viennese call. I realize that’s arguably more appropriate for Wagner, but I prefer the Viennese style.
@@Bill_Oddie_Face_Mask Yes I too prefer the Vienna sound for all things Wagner, but there are some other really great performances by others, for instance, any orchestra conducted by Klaus Tennestedt is magical. He had a lot of Wagnerian intensity that brought out so much in the music. I have probably heard over one hundred different renditions of the Siegfried Call and for me Berger has always been the definitive.
Dear listeners of this video,
Thank you for your comments! I just find it wonderful and very interesting to read such discussions under my videos.
I would like to briefly say that, as a Vienna horn player, I am of course familiar with most of Mr. Berger's recordings. They served me as a model for a long time and certainly influenced my current horn playing.
But it is understanable, that the way of playing changes, not least because of the further developed material and the different education and training.
Bravo 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
That prolonged G at 5 seconds is just the purest sound of brass you will ever hear. It's more piercing and brilliant than a C trumpet at the beginning of mahler 5. It doesn't even sound like it's coming out of an instrument, just pure vibrating brass producing the sound.
Nicht nur die Virtuosität, vor allem das Spiel mit den Klangfarben ist großartig!
Big, warm, great and incredible!! Bravo!!
Einer der besten je gehört. Richtig mit Ideen.
Danke!
Bravo!!from🇯🇵
It takes a Vienna Horn to produce the sound for this, or any other horn call for that matter. There's an elemental beauty to these instruments that cannot be matched by double horns. This performance, although not quite perfect is the most thrilling I've ever heard, since Roland Berger's on the Decca Siegfried - which incidentally was recorded after he'd stormed out and had a few beers in a bar as the recording engineers played a joke on him that he didn't appreciate - all in Culshaw's book "Ring Resounding".
Bravo … so toll ! Großen Dank !
Bravo 👏
Wasn’t expecting the timpani 🤣
sensationell!!
Oh, the German forest...

Wow!
Das Handwerk zur Kunst erhoben. BRAVO !!!
Echt super 📯
😍❤
Which horn do you use ?
Hello Peter, wonderful playing, do you play in an orchestra?
Trotz toller Leistung wäre etwas bessere Rechtschreibung wünschenswert, vor allem wenn man noch Hinweise bekommt...
