  • In this video, Naruschka Henriques, Head of Cosmetic Dermatology at the botonics Plastic Surgery Group, discusses the Dermaroller Collagen Induction Therapy or Medical Needling treatment.
What can be improved with Dermaroller treatment:
    - thickening of thin skin
    - improve the texture of fragile skin
    - reducing fine lines
    - rejuvenation of skin
    - acne and other scars
    - improvement of stretch marks
    - hyper-pigmentation
    - hypo-pigmentation
    Advantages of Dermaroller treatment
    - Universal: excellent for all skin types regardless of colour or age
    - Little downtime: does what a skin peel does but with less recovery
    - Quick: you can have in your lunch hour
    - Used anywhere: around eyes, face, neck, décolletage, backs of hands, body
    The Dermaroller
    - has about 129 cone shaped needles
    - is designed to pierce the skin to specific depth
    - has different length needles depending on indication
    - works beautifully in conjunction with skin care
    - augments benefits from skin care
We see Eugenia having a Dermaroller treatment, her face before and immediately after one treatment, then her before and after photos following a course of treatments.

Could you please provide names or links to studies confirming these beneficial effects?
The medical community does not seem to agree on the effectiveness of the dermaroller, and if it can be used at home. What is most confusing is that some doctors start with "There are many studies proving the benefits...", whereas other start with "There are very few studies showing evidence for benefits of dermarolling."
This doesn't exactly instill trust in the methods, and I am one of those people who like to know what is being done to them, especially if there are health risks and significant expenses involved.
    Thank you!

    is there any pain afterwards?

Hi Kesha, thanks for your question! Although you will look noticeably red for a day or two after a medical needling treatment, the skin is not overly sensitive or uncomfortable. The sensation is more of a warmth, like a bit of a sunburn. The treatment itself can be rather uncomfortable and it is one of those cases of 'no pain, no gain' unfortunately. This is more true when we are looking to resolve acne scarring which requires longer and more uncomfortable needles.
