It was negative 33 degrees the last time I drove out of there in the 90s. I had never experienced anything like that in my life. It literally took your breath away from the shock when you walked out for even a second. Yet, some people were in shorts, riding around on snowblowers like a regular day, and ready to get up and go hunting. Plowed snow was above rooftops. Crazy stuff!!! When I got back to Texas, it took me many years to feel like our "cold", was actually, cold. No joke.
It dipped into the -20 degree readings when we were there. That cold would physically "hurt" your skin and bones within seconds of being in it. We tried to stay in the truck as much as possible. However - we have to get out at times. Comes with the job. :)
@@LiveStormsMedia Wow! I pray to never be anywhere that cold again. I agree, it hurt. I had my own band back then, (back when I played secular / country music, haha) and we played a lounge at the bowling alley there. There were literally people dancing in shorts. I was like...am I hallucinating!?!? Haha. I took a pic of the time/temp reading on their sign outside and have it somewhere. You are very brave to be there!!! Thanks so much for sharing.
@b carb I just put "Marquette mi lowest temp on record" into google. It said -34.0°F. The article just said "in February", but I couldn't find a date on the article. The bowling alley (in about 1995 or 1996, I believe) had a time/temp on their sign. I took a picture of it, but I'd have to do some digging to find it. I'm 100% certain the temp was -30 'something', but 99% sure it was a double -33, but that is stuck in my mind. It was the most shocking thing I had ever seen in my life and 100% sure it wasn't the chill factor. Now, whether that sign temp was right, who knows, but it was shockingly and unbelievably cold, that I do know. Maybe you can help me remember the name of that bowling alley. It was something like Marquette Lanes, or something, but that doesn't sound right, but something Lanes. I probably have it written somewhere on some old performance contracts. I remember it had the nicest older couple ever as owners. It was on a hwy and not too far from Ishpeming where they used to have us stay in a cabin like house down from it, but then later booked us in a close Holiday Inn. Have a blessed day. :)
Hahaha. Back in 1977 we had -17 in Champaign Illinois with windchill of -45, or “don’t go outside or you’ll die” warnings on the radio. Naturally we went swimming at the gym. Came home with wet hair, giant mounds of spaghetti 🍝 and slept in three layers. Good times! 😁🌨❄️☃️🌬
@b carb I agree with global warming even tho it's become a political divide. Which will harm if not kill us all eventually. Whether it's man made or the earth just doing what it does....SOMETHING is going on!
That’s the issue man. These idiots act like global warming is happening everywhere and it is not. I live in the heartland and we need a good snowfall every year. We barely get it. This winter hasn’t been too bad. Some are saying the fertilizer we are using is drying up the soil and the water can’t retain in the soil like it’s suppose to. I can somewhat believe that. Ground can soak up water and hold it, Ground gets cracked and dried, Ground gets hot😂 Air gets hot. 😂 but I do not believe global warming is nation wide. Yet.
This is incredible. I'm in the very northern most of Indiana and they've said we will not have a white Christmas. We get snow....Normally. I'm not missing this by any stretch of the imagination!! I've always wanted to visit Marquette. Northern Michigan is gorgeous. But I think I'll wait till summer. LOL
If you don't shovel your roof the building will collapse, happened to quite a few buildings last year. Marquette averages 150 inches of snow per year and has had as much as 250.

The magical winter wonderland that is da UP
Love the UP area. Going to frequent the region for sure!
Live Storms Media You can have it lol
@@LiveStormsMedia Try to catch one of our mid to late april storms. Two weeks of sunshine and green grass, 30 inches overnight.
Love it ! Grew up around Duluth MN. In the 70's with big snows. This is my kinda fun. Don't get to see that here in central Illinois 😪

I left Marquette in 1978. Call me nuts, but I miss this.
Hey barry, thinking of spending Christmas there, i take it theres a good chance of a white Christmas?
Pretty city scape shots at beginning.
I love watching it snow, but I hate being out in it. Wet and cold, and usually windy.
about 2:10 in. The guy on the roof looks @ the shovel & thinks no way.
Damn! Talk about the global warming alarmist being wrong about never seeing sow again!
@Kraakmo But look at Australia right now, they're baking.

I had a full meal tonight, so world hunger must have been solved.

How did the goof on the roof ever live as long as he has: multiple wrong ideas in motion!!
