    I wish you could make a video for casual clothes paired with casual shoes, as in sneakers and flats. We cannot wear heels while we are running after toddlers or running around doing a ton of errands, it’s just not comfortable or practical.

    I’ve been watching a lot of these petite stylist giving advised. I noticed they seem to pair the outfits with heels 90% of the time. Which makes it seem like a work/meeting attire. I just want to dress casual while shopping, but also look cute and chic. And I want my feet to be comfortable and pain free.

      Yeah I agree. Most of the heels that I have bought, even the kitten heels are hardly used. They definitely look good with clothes but not practical especially when most times some walking is expected. Imagine slapping my feet in heels on concrete ground, it's suffering. The only times I try to wear heels are when I know the destination is close to the parking 🤣 and the appointment is just a short one. Sometimes I would switch into comfortable walking shoes/flats instead. 😂

    I think a better title for this video would have been "how to elevate a casual item with minimal effort". If you take a pair of jeans, pair it up with a linen shirt, a belt, a necklace, and heels, it's no longer a casual outfit. Cute, easy, comfortable, but not casual.

  • @misosoup8030
    @misosoup8030 Месяц назад +22

    Of course, wearing heels makes you look better, but they’re not comfortable. If we wear casual clothes, we need to be able to walk and be comfortable. I will not compromise the health of my body (& my back). Usually when I’m needing to wear casual clothes, I also need to be walking a lot, so I need my sneakers. Please show us short women how we can look decent in sneakers. We must be realistic.

      I lived in the southern US for 10 years. Places where rains are torrential but it's otherwise extremely hot in the summer. Everybody down there wears flip flops. The idea is that you can't avoid getting drenched, but that's OK because when the sun comes out 10 or 20 minutes later, your feet and the rest of your body dry quickly. I never liked flip flops. Not stylish, and uncomfortable, with the thing that rubs between the toes when walking. I wore plastic or rubber slides in nude colors. Crocs makes some shoes that look normal and a little less casual. My favorite pair is from them. Of course that got boring and I own a number of pairs of cute sandal heels, so I would often carry the slides in my purse (they're light) and put them on whenever I got caught in an apocalyptic downpour.

    Watched a bunch of your videos. There are some very helpful nuggets I've enjoyed--rule of thirds, elongating the legs, nude colors. I don't always agree with what looks good for before and after, but it's not a fair comparison either when you change 3-4 other things in the after-photo, like changing to heels, nude colors, tucking in shirt, cinching the waist. Basically a wardrobe change would make the initial point sort of disappear, don't you agree?

  • @misosoup8030

    Also, wearing jewelry and fancy accessories is not realistic. For instance, if I’m going to a ballgame, I need to be casual and comfortable (in my sneakers) and wearing too many accessories does not go with the theme. There is no way I’d be wearing any kind of heels, even low heels, to a ball game. Running around, doing errands in casual clothes, I must have comfortable shoes, which is better for my posture.

      Agree, I am almost always in short boots and if they have a slender profile, they can work with skirts and dress pants. I also like wearing oxfords, again with a slender profile. For example, in summer, I wear a neutral/light colored bronze pair of oxfords that work with a lot of skirts and shorter dresses. I do not wear heels as casual wear and seldom with my professional clothing, yet I still manage to look professional. It's just my personal preference not to wear heels and have learned to make it work through a lot of trial and error. Although there are definitely situations where a heel would look best and I am still looking for a a perfectly comfortable nude pair that's not too casual :)

I can be OK with the short pointy toes, 1980's style. In the 2000's is when whitches' shoes became the rage. I went an entire decade without buying a single pair of heels because that's all that was available. I want them to go away, but that's not going to happen.

    Wearing a pointed toe ballet flat is an alternative to kitten heels. The pointed toe keeps the silhouette elongated. Try to get a flexible ballet flat so that your feet don’t feel tight. Real leather and cloth or recycled plastic flats are great. Rothy’s, birdies and Tieks are all great choices if a bit pricey, but they are an investment that will last. I know there are more affordable versions out there too.

    I look weird in casual clothes unless they're tailored. The issue is also petites don't fit most casual (baggy) clothes. The neckline, the waist, and length are a lot more important if you need structure. Many merino wool or travel brands will have clothes that are casual but look a little more put together. There are hiking pants that look like slacks. In the casual look, well fitted joggers can give you shape. An elegant-looking ballet flat will dress up any look, but a white tennis shoe helps too. If you have a particular style need with a casual lifestyle, I suggest creating a capsule wardrobe so you can just grab and go

    Pointy-toe heels ? Just no. Impossible to do anything casual in them without destroying them or hurting: running errands, attending sports events, walking the dogs. Also nearly impossible to find comfortable pointy-toe heels. This is not a realistic video. Besides, heels worn with casual clothes send a mixed message: dressy + casual equals neither. I enjoyed the other tips however.

    None of these outfits are casual at all lol i would say more business professional. Here in Los Angeles we wear a lot of athleisure.

    All your pants are too short, which defeats the goal of trying to look longer & sleeker. If you lengthen the hems so they barely graze the top of the shoe you’ll see a world of difference. Right now your pants are shortening you by at least 2”.

    Love your videos, but not this one. The constant suggestion of high heels for petite women turns me off fashion advice for petites. It seems there is no way round this bit of advice. It is not a casual look once you add high heels, the whole point is lost. Of course high heels make us all look elegant, but it's just not practical to never be comfortable. Most of us walk a lot, go to an events on a fields, stand on our feet all day. It seems if you aren't long legged to look good you must be in uncomfortable foot wear. Who the wears heels all the time, look around the high street during the day almost everyone is in trainers, boots or flat sandals.
