It's strange that PDLAI still says, "You may take the field for competition." That's a vestigial phrase going back to drum and bugle corps of the 1970s, when every corps would begin their program positioned on the starting line. With everyone on the starting line, the corps was not technically on the field, hence, "Santa Clara Vanguard, you may take the field for competition," or "Blue Devils, you may enter the field for competition." Nowadays, everyone is on the field, so there's no need to take the field that you're already on.
i love your comment, maybe thats their rule to begin the OFFICIAL TIME... because the competition rules is they need to perform for about 10 to 12 minutes long.. unless they will get a penalty if they undertime or overtime... The "you may take the field for competition" may be the sign to start the official time.. Thank you for your comment dont forget to hit LIKE, SHARE and SUBSCRIBE!!!! Thanks man!!! :)
