The animator Syama did Astartes by himself and then Games Workshop bought his soul. He then helped put out the Secret Level episode with Titus, chad that he is. And now he finally gets to continue Astartes 2. Gotta love that man. He knows how to make Space Marines EPIC.
its likely that he was just under contract, like how mick gordon worked with id software but is not a full-time employee. he had also worked on the first trailer for chaosgate daemon hunters and that he had been working on astartes 2 all these years since the first one took him 5 for each part.

The 9 different Loyalist Space Marine Legions got broken up into "Chapters" after the Horus Heresy. 10,000 years before the current 40K setting. I personally collect Iron Hands, one of the original (primogeniture) Chapters. Their Primarch was Ferrus Manus. In this video we see one of their successor chapters called The Sons of Medusa 01:58 fighting the Tau.

Im a Dark Angel, Space Wolf and Black Templar fanboy/player. Astartes 2 just added Scythes of the Emperor (the guys with two scythes on their helmet) to that list now. This video is pure bliss as a 40k fan cause this is why we love 40k all in this trailer. My guess is all of those Astartes with the face shot are last of their squad or battle group, cause Scythes of the Emperor their home world got wiped out by the Tyranids. The shot with the Terminator at the end is a Deathwatch so we're gonna see certain views on why these Astartes join Deathwatch (a xenos killing machine).

That's likely a good few years away from being released if they only just signed the contracts with Warhammer (formerly Games Workshop) and need to find writers and a director. But Warhammer & Amazon both giving Cavill a serious amount of creative control shows how successful they both think it'll be. Neither of those companies want anyone else having the final say over the plot of their series.
Astartes was animated and produces pretty much single handedly by a single person as a FAN film a while ago. The company behind warhammer hired him, and we have all been waiting years for this. It probably wont continue from where the first one left off but tell a story of a squad of Deathwatch terminators comprised of Space Marines from different chapters featured in this short.The Deathwatch is where you get sent when you mess up badly, or get accused of being a heretic by the inquisition, so its sort of a punishment.
I will say this as an advice for ANYONE diving into 40k as a hobby: not knowing whas going on is such a fun, exciting feeling. EMBRACE that, its how a lot of us felt like kids. Don’t feel like you have to do homework on everything. Focus on the experience, and the learning comes with it. (also, crack open a codex, even if you don’t intend to look at rules. They are fantastic ways to get the tone and feel of each faction that youtuber can't quite replicate. Leaf around in it at your own pace.
Alright, Astartes 1 was about a group of Space Marines that are on a mission by the inquisition. They boarded the flagship of the rebels most likely knowing that the orb demon was there. The inquisitor was on another spaceship being psychically attached to a 1st orb. The inquisitor was able to ease drop between the orbs conversation. 1st orb attacked the inquisitor when he ordered to retreat the assault squad and was put down due to being made into a bomb. The 2nd orb absorbed them. It's really difficult to see without reading this is that the soul of the inquisitor attacked the demon in that ether leading to the absorbed Space Marines to be released and sent to who the heck knows.
Slight correction - not absorbed. Like primarchs, drawn into and thrown trough the warp. The 2nd orb demon draw them into warp trough the orb anchoring it to reality. But there is a blast sending them back to reality. The death of the Inquisitor, probably including the 1st orb demon possessing him... if on the world the demons intend, we do not know.
The legions shown is obliteraters which is the creators fan made creation that GW made Canon, Emperor cythes they almost lost their home world to Tyranids and hate them, Blood angels well know, the green ones with white helmets are sons of Medusa a sub chapter of iron hands, then last but not least the mortisans i think i spelled the name right they are basically from a cannibal world and honor death to an extreme hence why the helemets are pained with skulls
@@luketinsley4289 Nop, Black Shild is a punishiment, Death Watch is a subdivision of the Inquisition, Serve in the Death Watch is a greant honor, only the bests can, is a suidcid Squad, so they put the black shilds, good warriors how need to get punished in ther as a Black Shild. When a Aastarter is a Black Shild in the Death watch, they cant use color of symbols of their chapater, like the other honorable volunteirs .

"It was Space Marines, no idea who might have sent them, could have been the Orks." It's Ordo Xeno, they don't do blackops. They do have Deathwatch on their left pauldron and their own chapter on the right. I can hardly believe how you can be so aggressively adamant while being so wrong.
She has a very good eye. The Devil is in the details you know. And she is smart, I think she is just playing to make everyone else not feel dumb. And we are supposed to not know what going on in the astartes 1. It is part of the entertainment.
So, a few things you might not have picked up on or know about, working backwards from the end. That final shot with the title shows 2 important things: 1) that is a suit of terminator armor. Terminators are the very best of the best of the astartes, even harder to kill and even more deadly, the most elite veterans of the 1st company. Things that would blow holes in astartes armor bounce off terminator armor, and their baseline armament is a storm bolter and powerfist. 2) The symbol on the terminator helmet is the symbol of the deathwatch. The deathwatch is a unit in service to the ordo xenos of the inquisition, they exist specifically for the purpose of being specialists at fighting xenos. The warriors of the deathwatch come from space marine chapters across the imperium, forming mixed units where every member is from a different chapter. The motto of the deathwatch is 'suffer not the alien to live'. The various flashes of the different chapters seem to be snapshots into the origins/background of the various members that make up this deathwatch squad.
Reommended watching: Dawn of War intro video. Dawn of War is an old Warhammer RTS for computer. Warhammer 40,000 9th edition trailer. About 4 year old video to get folks hyped for that edition of the table top rules. Very well done and has a lot of Sisters of Battle in it. Warhammer 40,000 10th edition trailer. I would say they got the grimdark pushing forward in the face of hoplesness in this one better. Excellent video.
Someone for you to check out for WH40K lore is Luetin09. They go deeper into lore than Bricky. Just to give scope of Space Marines. There is 1000 Chapters of Adeptus Astartes. Each Chapter is upto 1000 Asrartes strong. Not all Chapters are arranged the same... in fact some are arranged completely differently. (I'll let you checkout the lore). To give some scope of the Lore... Warhammer 40,000 came in 1987 - 1988...

Look up the Dawn of War intro upscaled 4k, 8k. Its got a great short space marine vs ork scene, its like 20 years old so the original resolution is pretty bad though.

One thing I "somewhat" disagree with is the idea that all the factions are 'evil'. Generally, it's more that the galaxy has gone completely t____s up. And survival (for multiple factions) means putting in 110% effort, in every way, all the time. Basically everyone is effectively "drafted" from birth. And the whole function of the galactic economy is to fight for survival. And "heresy" really could completely destroy a planet, and very rapidly. So heresy _has_ to be dealt with like it's got a radiation symbol on it, and it's ticking... I guess my point is, that it's a very grim and dark galaxy setting, which punishes doubt, hesitation, or gentleness. But that doesn't mean that humans (or some of the other factions) actually _want_ to adhere to such "intensity". Even the God Emperor himself... endures in perpetual agony on his throne, for the sake of humanity, more martyr than tyrant. I guess I tend to associate the word 'evil' with "evil intent". But most humans, and many xenos, are just struggling to continue to exist in a galaxy gone mad, any way they can. There are hints everywhere in the fictionverse, that everyone knows it all has to "matter" ...at some point. But there's precious little time & resources to dwell on it in depth.
If you want a great lore video you should check out Warrior Tier's "Timeline of the 40k Universe by Trazyn the Infinite" as it covers the history of the galaxy from the perspective of the historian and archivist/artifact collector Necron Trazyn. A very beautiful, rich and most importantly accessible video.

you can learn what each of the spacemarine coloured armours mean. Theres only what... 1073 chapters at last count.

A very beautiful, rich and most importantly accessible video.

it looks like the sequel will be a series with multiple episodes.... and maybe multiple seasons! also Games workshop officially made the Retributor Chapter a real chapter... they a sub chapter of the Iron fist!
