    As much as I love Floyd Rose tremolos, I did a guitar rebuild, it's a Peavey V-type exp and had a Peavey licensed tremolo and it was horrible. So I ordered a Schaller trem and Schaller locking tuners. Wow what a difference, that Schaller is so smooth, the fine tuners are so sensitive, super nice tremolo! The guitar is a really nice metallic Blue and the original hardware was black. When I swapped to the Schaller I switched everything to gold, it just pops now, it's now one of my go to guitars. I did add a Fu-tone Brass big block, red springs and Titanium saddle blocks and screws in blue just to match. Stays in tune no matter what, just a beautiful setup!

      Schaller is the GOAT. the Lockmeister 6 is the most stable trem I've ever tried!
      the only problem is it costs $300+ to ship here in SEA, and I want the Ruthenium one to replace the FR Special on my LTD M-330R.

    • @charlesb7831
      @charlesb7831 6 месяцев назад +1

      @yanagida_01 your lucky, buy the time I had my Schaller shipped to me was 700.0 to Canada for the set. It was 300.0 plus Shipping and exchange, 700.0 . By the time I put the Schaller tremolo system, locking tuners trim peices and pickups and Fu-tone parts I'm into a 2500.0 on a 500.0 guitar. But it definitely doesn't play like a 500.0 guitar now. I have a Floyd rose original on my 1989 Kramer Nightswan and it still probably one of the best I have. I have 5 guitars all with a mix of Schaller and Floyd Rose and they all stay in tune no problem. I give all of them the same parts from Fu-tone, Titanium saddle blocks and screws with the brass big blocks and red springs. Always stays in tune. Sometimes it's money I don't have sorta thing, but for the long run, there all solid and reliable!

      @@charlesb7831 wow, where I'm from, in France, it's the opposite : basically everything from the US is more expensive and you have to add customs taxes to the mix. Whereas Schaller stuff is cheap AF, Gotoh would be right in between Schaller and OFR .

    • @charlesb7831
      @charlesb7831 6 месяцев назад

      @SociopatheAssume oh no, everything coming into Canada is 2 and a half times the price, with exchange some times a bit more. Heaven forbid that it's an oversized package or if you have to pay based on weight, then your wallet is really gonna start crying and need therapy afterwards lol.
      Even when I order even small Titanium parts from Fu-tone, I have to order several things to make it worth while, because of this very issue. About nuts.

    Floyd Rose Pro series is a great alternative to Lo-Pro Edge, without buying an Ibanez guitar. I have one installed in my custom 7 strings and it flutters really well.
    Replace the spring with gotoh for heavy gauge and you're set to go!

    • @SociopatheAssume
      @SociopatheAssume 6 месяцев назад

      It is , especially for those who want the "flatness" of the Lo pro Edge, but don't want/need an Ibanez guitar : I'm used to 12' radius neck or compound 12-16 but I can't feel good with the RG type necks. That being said I d'ont know the quality of this specific model, because I was lucky enough to buy one that was Made in Germany with high quality steel. But for some unknown reasons they discontinued this model and only propose this one now, which is basically the "low profile" version of their FR 1000's series, made in Korea and some parts (including the saddles) that are made of zinc. Do you have the older made in Germany one or the newer 1000's series ? Mine flutters very well too, at least as good (if not better) as an Edge/Lo pro.

    My favorite is the Gotoh 1996T. It’s basically the same as an OFR with a couple minor comfort improvements. The Bar is a better design, the saddles are more rounded off, and the fine tuners are more out of the way.

  • @SociopatheAssume
    @SociopatheAssume 6 месяцев назад

    You can absolutely replace the arm socket by a "pop in'" style one, Floyd sells it on their website, and having tested and adopted it, I can say I love it : the feel and touch is the same as the screw in style, except you just pop it in, AND you can adjust the torque/stiffness of the arm itself with an hex key.

    The very first version of the floyd rose pro was actually usa made by kahler, when they started mass production they moved production in germany, after that it was discontinued at 2020 i think, and than replaced with the floyd pro 1000 which is korean.

      Partially correct. The Floyd Rose Pro was designed by Gary Kahler and Floyd Rose together at Kahler International with their respective engineers. Kahler was only legally allowed to make them for Kramer and when Kramer tanked the manufacturing pro was moved to Germany. The original Kahler Floyd Rose Pro was the highest quality of the three versions produced. The Korean version is very different from the original Floyd Rose Pro.

    Great video review. In my personal opinion, I think double locking trems (floyd rose, gotoh GE1996T, etc.) are obsolete. I think that modern day Gotoh 510, hipshot tremolos, etc. can do the same that most double lockign trems can, without the hastle.

    So, I'm on a journey to upgrade my RG470AHM-BMT which I love. I came with the double-locking Ibanez trem system... it stays in tune great! but for me, the fine tuners get in the way. I went on Reverb and purchased a new Edge Zero 2 and also went to FU-Tone and bought the brass block and strings upgrades thinking that was the answer... after watching this video I wish I would have hit the go button on the Floyd. Does anyone have thoughts on what I should do? I haven't got the new edge yet it's still on its way.

  • @Ophidicus
    @Ophidicus 6 месяцев назад

    I picked up one of these and wasn't expecting the design to be so different from a normal low profile tremolo like a Jackson for example, the bottom piece where the fine tuners adjust to is shaped like a V and it won't sit flush on some guitars for that reason, maybe it's because of design patents but it was disappointing because I really wanted a real Floyd rose tremolo.

    Slightly off topic question but is there someone out there who's reasonable priced that I could ship my guitar and piezo floyd rose bridge to for them to install on a LP style body? I don't trust myself to do it and I don't know of anyone local. I want to install a ghost piezo floyd rose system on an Epiphone 1959 LP to make it sort of like the previous Alex Lifeson Les Paul models with the piezo-loaded floyd rose that were discontinued. The ones with 2 output jacks. Possibly considering having it done to a McCarty 594 SE in Vintage Sunburst so it would be kind of like the PRS version of that guitar as well, haven't decided which one yet. Any recommendations would be much appreciated though.

    • @zanzabar4ky7
      @zanzabar4ky7 6 месяцев назад

      It wont work well on your LP. The ones with a trem have a shallower neck angle. The bridge will stick way over the body and will catch on everything. You might want to get something like an LTD with a floyd stock, then put the ghost trem in it. Or go to some place like Texas Toast and custom order it. The other option would be to try and put the ghost saddles on an FRX.
