- The next-generation 2021 Honda City in its RS variant is finally here in the Philippines and is on for this episode of Behind the Wheel. Here's our review of the venerable subcompact sedan in its top of the line trim for the country. Powered by a new 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated DOHC engine, the City more than earns its sporty chops brought about by the RS badging. At P1,048,000, does this sedan make a great buy? Watch to find out.

The City and the Vios are the most reliable car that we ever owned. Straight up no bs - will get you to point A to point B with less to zero problems in like the next 10 years. So whatever Honda or Toyota decides on its looks or price, I would still go all in if I need a daily drive.
What year is your Vios, is it a CVT transmission ?
@@gutadin5 2015 City A/T and 2011 Vios M/T.
@@mackie0321 is your City a CVT? How many mileage now on the Odometer? I'm just trying to find out how reliable cvt is.
@@gutadin5 CVT 70k kms. :)
@@mackie0321 you know what? That's a reliable CVT, have you driven that on a long distance 5 to 6 hours trip? Like Manila to quezon or Manila to ilocos.
This is what a CIVIC used to be 20 years ago. Will be a hit
Truly even the size is kinda like a civic but as we all know a civic is a civic
20 years? More like 5 years bro
@@woloo9877nope. The size of this thing is more similar to the FD Civic. The succeeding FB is slightly bigger already.
The Honda City is a huge hit in India. I drive a 4th Gen Honda city since 2015 and it has been a trouble free experience. Honda is superb.
It's also worth noting that the M/T variant has push-to-start and Hill Start Assist.
Really? Does it have hill start assist?
And my MT 2017 mazda2 has pushstart for 738k. No hill start assist though. What im saying is pushstart should have been the standard for a long time
Yeah i saw the toyota Rush MT has also have Hill start assist amazing
Wow,, that's ancient tech for my car
@@jarcho86 whats your next car?

Caco: And I took that personally
🤣 idk why Caco is mad at Jack and Earl eh wala naman silang ginagawa sakanya eh 🤣

Just got mine yesterday but I still watch this video. 😅. Great review talaga from sir Caco and the whole Autodeal team. Sobrang naconvince niyo ko
Will you buy for me
Hey how is your experience with the car? Is it recommendable?😊
@@obadareoga4076 😅
@@mohotasimkabir715 After 3 years of using it as a daily driver - yes. I had some issues, but none of them were unsolvable. Ride comfort might be the weak points of this vehicle (i.e. stiff suspension, nvh, etc.) but very good fuel efficiency, handling, performance, and looks. Overall, a solid car.
I wish they would sell this in the US. I like compact cars; I don't need something quite as large as the Civic. Thanks for the review!
The city kind of reminds me of Nissan Sentra or versa
Caco is the most energetic and informative auto journalist out there. I wish we had him here in the states.
Bruh stop stealing everyone for us let us other countries have our own gems
S CVT is one of the most bang for money you can buy.
It’s like driving a million peso car. It’s so smooth, spacious, powerful and nimble.
Trust me. Real owner here.
Finally! I have been waiting for this review from Sir Caco for a while now. Nobody does it better than you! More power! and Happy Holidays!

Nice Review! I got the City RS last week and no complains so far -- very satisfied in terms of comfort and driving experience.

Good content. Hope that you can also include parts availability outside Casa. This is a very important to make that purchase decision on maintaining the car especially after warranty. Thanks! 😊
This is what I am looking forward to. Kudos to the review 😍
After I drove an SUV and Pickup, I have awkward feeling driving a sedan, it feels very low. But I kinda still want it for comfort hahaha.
There’s a reason why the review of this new City is almost always a RS variant. When you see all the remaing variants which is stripped of the RS bodykits, sadly it looks lame compared to the previous generation.
Remember that the looks is what first draw our interest into a car.
I saw the V variant and I didn't find it lame compared to the previous generation. I think it actually look more of a corporate car, I can see a lot of managers, those in the supervisory level positions to get the the V variant if they think the RS is too sporty.
Yesssss I've been waiting for this review!
OMG I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS REVIEW. THANKS SO MUCH ❤️
Aha! New Honda City buyer 🤣 pupunta ako sa Civic Type R vtec agad!
Sameee! Btw kumain ka na ba?
Nice review btw. I'm still waiting for the new upcoming Honda Civic that was released by Honda not too long ago. Teaser made me excited. Lel
I think that will be in 2022? That was just a prototype if I recall correctly
I've changed the play speed to 0.75, sounds natural haha
Finally! I've been waiting for this. Still choosing between the RS and V variant 🤔 This is a big help, merry christmas!
Hi! I just got my City V today and it is sublimely good. The test drive units at Honda are the RS variant and quite frankly, I had almost the exact same experience with both variants. If you have money to spare on paddle shifters, extra airbags, fog lamps, extra speakers, and remote start, by all means get the RS. If you don't think you'll use those features much anyway, you really can't go wrong with the V. 😊 I hope this insight helps. Cheers!
Didn't think twice to get the RS variant. it is all worth it.
Just bought a V too and it’s a good buy! Only problem in my book is the front bumper - it’s quite low on this car, so be wary of parking stops and driving on uneven terrain when going out of town. In high speeds for V, you might need to amplify the volume.
@@jennusalonte3446 thanks for the tip! Yeah I try to take it easy on bigger humps. This thing takes road blemishes like a champ
go with RS!!!
Legend has it

The review is great! Looking at getting this City variant. Just wanted to say that this video looks like it has been taken in Pampanga? Clark? The abandoned places in the background looked familiar but I might be wrong. It just brought a sense of nostalgia.
The audio is panning left and right abnormally, please fix.

Sorry boss. We will fix po asap po after mo ko sahuran
Okay boomer
@Snowman ndi ko pa natatanggap ung pasahod ni boss.
I really hope the City Hatchback comes here in the Philippines.
I am amazed how Sedan price is cheaper in PH. Here in Indo, price could reach up to 1.3mio php for mid model.
If only you'd seen the prices of other sedans, you will immediately opt for a pickup or suv
@@kyleterry5190 i meant specifically for city. if RS here was on that price range, maybe ppl here will opt for Sedan. but our govt has stupid tax scheme specifically for Sedan which makes Sedan less and less popular.
@@fahryilham It's that cheap thanks to honda having a factory here.....but if it's not made here, just look up the original price in USD currency and multiply by 200%
I think it's because the turbo variant is available in your country? Here in Philippines, no option for turbo.
they only come up with N/A engine with E being the highest model meaning we have no RS model yet. Every sedan has that stupid tax scheme which makes entry level sedan is no longer cheap regardless produced domestically, thats why ppl here buy hatch or crossover. Soon Jazz will be replaced by City hatchback. I am sure they will include RS model, I am gonna see this car often on the road, just with no boot. haha
AWESOME! Per medyo nabitin kami :) Sana may comparison with the 2020 model or with the equivalent models from other brands. Thank you for what you do!
Hi Autodeal, I wonder, where do you shoot? The scenery is amazing, hoping to drive those roads soon...

Excellent review as always Caco!
First review I watched 2021! Infact 1st RUclips video
I'm obsesseeeeed with these reviews
After a week of purchase, i just found out the rear seats has a fixed headrest - a downgrade from my previous gen city. Also the previous gen leather seats is better than this combination now.
As expected, great review! Btw, which would you prefer? 2021 Honda Civic E CVT or this?
Update? Which have you chosen po?

This reviewer is absolutely crazy and I love it!
Ano po mas matipid sa gas? Honda City 2018 or toyota altis 2017? Balak ko po kase bumili nang second hand. Thank you po!

Two words,.TWO COOL 😎
Lovin' It's all new upgrades 😉
Am I the only one bothered that controls from the infotainment system are all located in the right side? I know they're imports but they should've considered left hand drive markets of this car. I can imagine people reaching to the other side of the screen just to change the volume.
Honda City 2021 or Mazda 2 2020 sedan? Which would you choose? Comparo when?
Sir Caco, Please review the Hilux Conquest 4x2 AT variant....
Which one is better Geely Coolray Premium P1,089,000 with P130k discount or Honda City RS P1,048,000 with only P20K discount?.
If you need your vehicle to be long-lasting and durable, pick the City, but anything else, Geely Coolray is better.
honestly, if you're willing to take the risk of owning the coolray then it's definitely worth your hard earned pesos
135 ground clearance well ....
car bumper :- wow finally its time to meet the speed breaker .....
I just purchased the Mz3 last September. But if this City RS came out before that, I might have really considered this instead of the Mz3 and save 500k.
Not in the same class ! U'd be steppin' down a notch or two 😑

Will they release the hatchback in PH?
Sir, kindly make a review of the 2021 Honda City Hatch. Thank you..
DOHC upgrade is not minimal. That's the difference between old cities and civic. Slap a turbo to that bad boy and hrsprs will rise so much

Do a review of the lexus IS 350 f sport next
Or the 2020 corvette
hi Caco, is that correct, less than 12 feet long?..
Dunno why people would opt for a Vios instead of this clearly superior City.
I own a Vios, I'd like the City to be my second car
Vios can be your daily, and get another body type as your 2nd to haul more stuff or people. No use getting the same class and body type.
Compare it with top of the line and you will notice the lack of features in Vios G variant such as cruise control, apple car play android auto, rear air vents, rear center arm rest, rear 12V socket
@@kendelion i'd go for a feature rich Pickup like this sedan
Toyota's simple approach with the vios is good but I wouldn't mind spending a bit more for convenient features such as a more powerful engine, rear 12V sockets, rear vents and a concealed arm rest.
My vios is good and reliable but for me the city is better.
It is always wiser to get a bigger car na lang. Depending on what you do in life, it can be either a Pickup, SUV or MPV.
But for a start I think that you intend to replace your Vios in the longer run by getting the City, so you can start with that as well.
Get the City now, sell the Vios later and use the money to buy a bigger hauler. I totally get you
I thought (and expected) the RS to be the i-MMD version which have around 253 NM , no? Or there r different RS and the iMMD variant?
Sir pahingi naman ng advise mo kung ano ang maganda po honda Civic E cvt or eto po ang city RS? thanks merry christmas pô
If fuel consumption is not an issue for you,Civic pa din pero kung gusto mas matipid sa gas,City na at un RS top of the line.
Hey you forgot about earl! Great vid bro
Mang caco can you please review the CRV SX2021🙏thanks
Is there no 1.0 turbo (173Nm)) or hybrid version (253Nm) there like in Thailand. Your car is about the price of a mid spec 1.0 in Thailand.
