As a fan of the girls since they debuted in Minx, I find it really intriguing when she was talking about that time period. I'm a little curious as to what she meant. Was she meant to be in the lineup for Minx and it fell apart or was she also supposed to be the choreographer for them as well? Either way, pretty fascinating as I've never known this, even though I've been a fan for a long time. Thanks for sharing this really interesting behind the scenes video.
I love these videos! To find out what the choreographer was thinking is just fascinating. It makes watching the formations even more fun. SuA is _such_ a great dancer! Every move she makes is just gorgeous. The music, the choreography and SuA's dancing are my favorite parts of Dreamcatcher. Oh, and the synchronous dancing is incredible. 10:31 the diagrams she draws for the formations! How cool is that?
Oh yeah, we noticed that call back to Boca lol I think I love it even more since Boca was the second part of the Dystopia trilogy, and Vision is the second part of the Apocalypse trilogy. Thank you so much for the English subs! It's interesting the way the choreography is visualized and then put into reality, it's an amazing journey through Sooyeon's thought process of her creation of the amazing choreographies for Dreamcatcher!
A few takeaways from this episode: 1) Dreamcatcher’s performance as a whole is an art bc of the entire team that puts their hearts into it, including the choreographers and the composers 2) Hwang Sooyeong is an amazing and brilliant performance directors Both have never been a secret tbh, but this video just affirmed them even more. She almost debut as Minx too? This one I've never heard before. Thanks for all the great choreos, her head must be like a VR headset where she could see floating point moving in and out of position, rearrange them in thin air. Fate indeed.
Dang, this was actually pretty interesting. I always figured it was a complicated process trying to tie the music to motion while maintaining a concept and also knowing who is singing next and getting them elegantly in position to do so, but it was nice to hear a choreographer go through the actual nuts and bolts of it and consider individual members and their gestures, be conscious of not generating controversy when making small decisions like the salute and even fighting with the company over the proper number of backup dancers. Good stuff, great video and thanks for subtitling it.

I loved finding this video because it confirms what I thought about DCs choreographies for a long time now. Sooyeon-nim says in 4:48 that she thinks about the choreography from the viewpoint of the singer, the best moves for them to be singing that line. Dreamcatcher is a rare group because it has intricate, strong choreographies that don't interfere with the singing a lot. It's a big factor on how they manage to sing live so much and so strongly, the choreo is always planned around giving appropriate breathing room and positioning.
Since Produce 101 you can already tell Hwang Sooyeon is a super smart person and incredible dancer, her vocals were also great as well, 3 or 4 years later (to Scream direction) and she's one of the most creative and fascinating choreographers in the kpop industry, she's just a genius, I love to see her notes and drawings of the formation, it's fascinating how she can handle not only the members but the dancers in her head as well, Dreamcatcher definitely struck gold with both the choreographers and the composers, a perfect team for a perfect group, and not gonna lie, I'm glad DCC/Happyface got her back whenever they let her go, lol, they just knew they had a diamond in the rough
I don't know exactly why, but I would love to see her perform(sing and dance) with Dreamcatcher. Live or in one of their special clips doesn't matter. It would be very special and precious I think.

What a delight, to get insight into the process of creating these choreographies. I think one of her strengths is definitely the fact, that she also understands singing, and how physically demanding it can be, especially when combined with dance. To have all these things work in harmony, it creates very memorable performances.
