    Today I talk about the T+A DAC 200 and I discuss why it is among the best I have ever heard. I also compare it to my DCS Lina and a very nice DAC inside of my Aavik U-150.
    This is also a preamp (and I tested it with Pass XA 60.8's, sounded wonderful) and a headphone amp. German build and design.
    The price of this is incredible for what it is.
    Enjoy!

    Super review. this DAC was created with the idea of upsampling using HQPlayer (DSD 1024/512). and it will bring a new level of sound unattainable now. I just wanted to let you know that you need to try this.

      + Mola Mola Tambaqui (is said to combine benefits of both May and Dave in one, without their disadvantages, and be better than both)
      + MSB Discrete (lowest model of MSB, as per Sajid Amit's opinion of Amplify Audio Reviews is a clear step up over May)

      @@rolling1885 I agree. But the OP was suggesting which other 'top DACs' he has left to still review. But yes, MM and others I sugested are more of an upgrade path rather than a direct competitor at similar price level.
      As for additional external pairings like clocks, you can't automatically summarize their price.

    What i loved about the T+A DAC was the extended reach of its closeness to far away high frequency bass levels that were close up lower to the absolute top (I'm talking about the lowest bottom of the top basement). The liquid dryness of the forward backness gave a real perspective on virtual "there". "There" didn't exist "here" when the sound levels were turned off at full max.

    I ordered the T+A DAC 200 (with the optional HDMI module) three weeks ago today (the sticky wicket with my order was the optional HDMI module). Should be at my house in another three weeks (hopefully). I'm very much looking forward to what this DAC will do for my system and how this will take my digital to the next level. Pairing it with a Sony SACD transport and an Auralic Aries G2.1 streaming transport. Should be pretty magical.

    If you get a chance, run the Lumin U1 mini and let the Lumin software covert everything to DSD. The T+A dac200 has a separate DSD decoder that is supposedly better that it’s pcm converter. Of course you will have to run the Lumin with USB

      It's just that when converting anything does something boring to the sound. My experience is that it's best to play files natively. For example ripped CDs have more life to them when play without convertion or upsampling.

  • @dennis3779

    Nice. But they jacked the price too much. The Ferrum Wandla is halve the price. Though this is much better and real and less artificial than Halo and Laiv dacs but probably not better than the newest Lampizator Amber dacs. Also the AA dac and NewOntech and Sugden are a must try. And the Meitner MA3 and Tambaqui are much more expensive. The volume control is only interesting for the analog input if it is pure analog without processing. Then it would be nice as a pre amp in combination with Class A poweramps such as the Galion TS A 20 poweramp 🤔

    • @spasticnerd866
      @spasticnerd866 11 месяцев назад +8

      Garbage in equals garbage out. Contrary to what anyone tells you, including the obviously clueless person that replied to you, the source is the foundation of your system. It sets the stage for every component after it. I've built more custom digital sources than I can count and the source is by far the most overlooked component in mid-to-high end systems. Don't skimp on the source!

    • @GautamChatterji
      @GautamChatterji 11 месяцев назад +3

      I totally agree. In the studio recording environment one thing that makes the track sound the best is the purest source. Source is the key if not most important component in the audio reproduction chain.

      Most other “budget” DACS do not have advanced re-clocking master clock anti-jitter technology (which has been around for over 20 years) which in the DAC200 is apparently next level. That translates to more open dimensional presentation and clarity. I owned the now discontinued (yet legendary) Genesis Digital Lens. It made such a difference in the way of clarity and expansive presentation. I’ve heard the T+A reclocking technology is part of the equation that gives it an edge over the average sigma-delta or R2R topology.
