I know the real life Oscars doesn't do this but omg I hope you do a deep dive into each category (like why you think each game was nominated or why the winners received the most votes!)
Great video, i just wish maybe you or a select panel or something could've picked the nominees because I feel like due to popularity and/or not fully understanding the categories a lot of the fan favorites just kept getting nominated when, imo at least, in some case there were better suited games that deserved some slots and time to shine. It's all subjective though maybe that's just me Great idea though! Now going forward maybe we can do it game by game. That'd give every game a chance to shine without being compared to the others
this was absolutely delightful to watch!!! if you ever do this again, or if you do a secondary pity round, I think a fair thing to do for the Supporting Actors/Actresses (the phone friends) category might be to separate the "Main" and "Side" characters. I feel like a lot of really wonderful and enjoyable one time side characters might have gotten sidelined by the sheer popularity of Bess & Ned. It could be cool to have people vote on which "Main" character they like best and still have room for the "Side" characters. (example: I absolutely love Casey Porterfield, but I feel like he had absolutely zero chance of winning if beloved amazing boyfriend Ned Nickerson is on the roster as well. They both should have their chance to shine individually!)
WOW WK! What a fantastic video! 😻😻😻 What a lot of work and effort that has gone into this with the survey, data collection, editing, recording, script. WK FOR THE WINNER OF BEST SHORT FILM! And you had such a tight turnaround from conception to release - just WOW Xx
Waiting for Ryan Pepper to see my comment about which games got snubbed! Definitely Haunting of Castle Malloy deserved to win best original score ;) also I love to see the love for Crystal Skull!! I always felt like that one didn't get enough recognition but here it did! Yay! Great video Caitlyn
This was SUCH a good video! I was a little disappointed that Hilda or savanna didn’t win best supporting actress, but I think all of the awards were fair and accurate. Thank you for taking time for this. It was so fun!
Thank you so much for this video!! As someone who ADORES the Oscars, this has to be my favorite video you’ve made so far. I continue to be in awe of your dedication to celebrating these games. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into your content! ❤😊
Original score honorable mention: the deadly device. You had the deadly device’s soundtrack playing throughout this video, and I was like dang, that’s such a good one, too!!!
I feel like some generic clapping after the winners were announced would have been a nice touch. Very realistic otherwise, certain games/movies are nominated for everything and I didn't always agree with the winner. Very cool idea!
I'm thinking of using this data by attaching points to winning/nominations and seeing what order the games end up in. Would that be OK for me to create a video from? I'd give you credit of course, I am just a data and organization person and am really curious how many points each game would have.
What a great idea for and wonderful execution of a video (although the DED music during the production design portion threw me off 😅) I really think the fashion and soundtrack categories were close and could easily have gone to different games. And, I can’t believe Bess won. Even though I love her, how could Hotchkiss or Prudence not win?? And, how in the name of all that is good and holy did Gunnar not win? 😭
I’m kind of surprised that there hasn’t been a Nancy Drew game set in the context of a major awards ceremony! Think of it - Nancy has been shortlisted for a Youth Citizenship award or something, she goes to an interesting place for the ceremony, meets a bunch of upstanding, interesting, and/or annoying people (some organisers, some attendees), and then when something goes horribly wrong at the event she has to figure out the culprit, set things to rights, and generally save the day. In the end, she doesn’t win the award (it goes to someone who initially seemed very suspicious, but who had very good intentions and/or was being framed by a competitor), but - as she writes to Ned - she made some fascinating new friends and it was an honour just to be included!
I decided to do my version of the Oscar’s and spread the love more to different games so at least half the series goes home with something ! Lol :) Also I think you said Labyrinth won Costume Design (not Waters Edge) after more votes came in. Picture - Legend of the Crystal Skull Directing - Last Train Sceeenplay - Final Scene Actress - Danger by Design (Minette) Actor - Royal Tower (Dexter Egan) Supporting Actress - Haunted Carousel (Paula Santos) Supporting Actor - Silent Spy (Carson) Foreign film - Phantom of Venice Best Score - Castle Malloy Best Song - Sea of Darkness Best Sound - Haunted Mansion Visual Effects - Thornton Hall Production Design - Blackmoor Manor Makeup/Hair - Waverly Academy Costume Design - Labyrinth of Lies
Secret of Shadow ranch winning best directing and screenplay…interesting choice. It didn’t even make my top five in either category 😅 and it just made my top ten. I like that game and all but
I think it gets so many accolades because it manages to do everything, at the very least, well. There are few if any weaknesses to it, so even though it may not be a personal favorite for everyone, it hits enough marks to stand out in polls!
I'm playing Shadow Ranch now on my channel and can see why it was nominated and won so many! Used to be lower on my list, but replaying, it's totally higher now lol.
This was very interesting and entertaining. There are only two things I would change/add. One is that I would have had both an Adapted Screenplay category and an Original Screenplay category, just like they do at the Oscars. Most of the early games follow the books quite closely, while the later games only have one single element (usually location, but sometimes just one plot element) in common with the books they are supposedly "based on." Most of the early games I see as adapted screenplays that bring the books to life, whereas the later games I see as original screenplays. The first 6 games plus games 9, 10, or 13 could all be contenders for best Adapted Screenplay. I think I would vote for The Final Scene to win. The games I would put in the Original Screenplay category are the ones that have very little to do with the books, such as games 23, 24, 27, 28, and 32. I think I would vote for Sea of Darkness to win. The other thing is that I wish you had named the actual voice actors for the acting categories instead of just saying the character names. Just to give credit where credit's due, ya know? 🙂
Ohhh when I saw how long this is I got even more excited. Just got off work, there's a huge snowstorm that is supposed to be dropping on us very soon, so I'm cozying up with some tea and popcorn to watch this. Edit: This was such a fun video! I agree with another comment that I think some generic clapping after the winners were announced would be nice. (Also was I the only one who kept saying "Lou lou!" after every "And the winner is..."?) I think Alexei was snubbed for best actor, he made me laugh and he made me cry. Dexter is practically wooden next to him. Also so many good phone characters I think got overshadowed by Frank, Joe, Bess, and Ned (as much as I love them all)- I was hoping Vivian Whitmore would get nominated for supporting actress, I loved calling her and hearing about her past with Mickey Malone. Shadow Ranch deserved all the awards it got, but I was hoping SAW would take best screenplay. I might be alone in this but I think all of Takae's dialogue is gorgeous, the way she described the different traditional arts showed her deep connection to her heritage, and the story about luring a bird into her room ending with "Kasami is still here". The dialogue for all the characters was unique and enjoyable, even for characters like Logan who had little (or I guess technically no) screentime.
For me, easily the biggest shock was Thornton hall not winning for visual effects. That game is basically 1 big visual effect and to me the northern lights can’t hold a candle to it!
Okay okay but you know how the actual Oscars have musical guests (I think… I don’t think I’ve ever actually watched) but imagine having the musical guest of SHORTY 😅😅😅
@@WizardKittenYT Wrong on both accounts xD I did not expect SAW to clean up as much as it did. Not surprised by SHA though. It's a classic and a nostalgic first for so many. I really thought SEA and GTH would win more than they did too. Oh well. There's always next year! Thanks for all the work you put into the survey. It was a lot of fun and got me excited for the upcoming summer streams ^_^
So many thought and comments... but I was relieved to see that they all seemed very fair nominations, not that people had just picked their personal favourite games. I even nominated GTH numerous times!! I agreed with almost everything apart from some of the supporting/best actor/actress categories. I'm not a fan of Hotchkiss at all. And I think Bess in Crystal Skull is very unfair as she is a playable character, not really a phone contact. Can't believe Ned won and not Carson - and where was Dwayne Powers?! SO glad to see the love for MHM, and very interesting that Shadow at the waters edge was nominated so much but is rarely in anyone's personal top 5. Also interesting that I don't know many people who have Shadow Ranch as their top pick, but that it does normally win various polls of best game, and has also done the best here!
I think the key is that it may not be a standout favorite for many, but it is strong enough across multiple categories and therefore always does well on polls!
You MUST do a Razzie version of this (Lisa from TRT for the Worst Actress win!)
Lol!!
I will never understand why the only did voice acting for the letters in Shadow Ranch.
It adds so much to the story.
It really does!
Blackmoor got snubbed harder than Greta Gerwig & Margot Robbie did at the oscars 😭😭
Was definitely hoping for at least one Blackmoor win too!!
@@WizardKittenYT For best song Fairy bodies, I was crushed to see it not win for anything music related 😭

I did it for a patron exclusive, but yes! So much juicy data! 😊
This is some of the best Nancy Drew content I’ve ever seen, BLESS u for organizing and creating this!!!! 😊
That is so lovely to hear!! Thank you!

FINAL SCENE SNUBBED!
Glad to see it at least got a screenplay nom!

It is easy for some games to get lost in the mix! Good point!
I wanna fight whoever kept voting for Shadow at the Water’s Edge. 😂
You will be fighting many many people, lol!! 😅
It’s actually one of my least favorite games! I’ll take midnight in Salem over Shadow at the Waters edge any day!
I can't believe TRT didn't make it into the soundtrack categories.
I was surprised by that too!

Yeah, that would probably help some really cool characters get their moment in the spotlight!
I love these ND analysis videos I get to experience Nancy Drew in ways I never would have even thought of as a kid when the games first game out
That makes me so happy to hear! Thank you!
YES!!! I HAVE BEEN NOT SO PATIENTLY WAITING FOR THESE RESULTS!!!
Bahaha!! Enjoy!
This was so fun and such a good idea! I’m so glad Alexi got at least a best actor nomination, he’s my favorite character out of all the games ❤
