My personal understanding with henrik and Taylor was that he wanted to stop Taylor’s black market dealings and was pretending to be interested in taking part. Those notes are so funny to read because henrik is SO annoyed by him. I could be wrong but I don’t think it’s brought up at the end of the game because henrik didn’t actually want to participate for ‘bad intentions’. To me, the notes made sense as to why he had the ham radio and the ‘buy milk’ note for the black market password. He wanted to buy off the black market to put the artifacts back in good hands!

Also to mention, if you call Hugh (Jane’s dad) and ask him about her guinea pig, he says Jane had a “black” one. Which to me means 1 of 2 things. She killed multiple pets, or it had black fur, but because of the chemicals it changed the animal’s fur color to the orange-ish color shown in the picture on Jane’s desk. Always made me wonder!!!

Stay tuned for danger is one of my favourite ND games which I first played almost 20 years ago and replayed or rewatched it multiple times over the years, yet I was today years old when I found out Rick sent some of the death threats to himself, WHAT??? 🤯🤯🤯

I love the fact that the name Rick Arlen uses in the threats he sends to himself is just his real last name but scrambled.

OMG I never realized that about the HAU journal or why the tower stairs were out! That is chilling!!!

I think the implications around the monster legends is why I liked captive curse more upon replays as I better understood the legend, and that’s why it ended up being one of my favs. The characters in the game are goofy and off beat, but it’s contrasted with how when you dig deeper they all have something dark in their past that they are avoiding addressing directly. Just like the castles history. And while most games with a spooky setting will try to demystify the location’s spookiness at the end so that the characters can continue on with their lives, in captive curse all of the named characters you meet end up leaving the castle instead in order to move forward.

Fun video! I'm proud to say I knew most of these, but there were a few that surprised me! Another one to add to the list-I've noticed many people miss Colin's delivery of "tainted sausages" in Phantom of Venice. Or if they do trigger the sequence, they don't always follow up with confirming it was him with the handwriting comparison.

Great video! I knew all of them except the White Wolf one about Freddy being the one that broke the window!! That explains why Lou mentions that "there was no rock on the floor" nothing to indicate how it was broken. The ice ball melted! Also, Guadalupe is the one who destroyed the fishing shack. It always bugged me how nonchalant she and the game is about the fact that she did some serious damage and committed crimes (destroying private property/vandalism). And messing with someone's sights on their gun is super serious! Because if they think they are aiming at one thing, but they are actually aiming at another, they could hurt someone or something unintentionally! And if you talk with Guadalupe on the phone, at one point she mentions "I've done much worse while working for Run & Grow Free believe me". I like the wolf and don't want to see it get hurt, but when Ollie throws Guadalupe out, I'm always like "good!" haha Okay, rant over haha 😂

THE PUZZLES DROVE ME F^CKING CRAZY !!!!!!!!!!! Possibly some of the worst puzzles the Nancy Drew franchise has ever had. I was looking at my screen sometimes like "how am I even supposed to DO the puzzle, let alone solve this monstrosity??" Also, I don't have a mouse for my laptop so I was constantly having to go back and forth between classic and modern navigation so that I could properly explore and interact with things and that was very frustrating to me. I also 100% agree with how you're left with your own devices as far as knowing when to do what and where to go to do it. I feel like in previous Nancy Drew games, they guided your playthrough so that you knew exactly what the next steps were.

I cant get the vile to pour into dish. As soon as i let go, it returns to the stand with other viles/chemicals.

To say that some people experienced glitches is an understatement. The Latte Art bug makes it completely impossible to finish the game even at the very minimum settings, without a high end graphics card. We've got a decent system, with an i7 3.0 CPU and Windows 10, but the only way we could finish the game was to download a Save Game file from HER that picked up after Nancy had made a Latte Art, and even then we played at Low Graphics settings. A lot of people probably didn't think to even go looking for a workaround, and just returned the game. We finished, but there was no way to get the 30 Coffee Achievement, and so no way to unlock the Secret Ending. In the old series, Sea of Darkness worked on Windows XP. Lots of other crazy stuff in the game, like Nancy taking the jewels right in front of Oskar (or taking them at all, since she could legitimately go to jail for doing it). Or the police not being available by phone. Or Nancy getting poisoned and the antidote for the very poison she took hanging prominently in the same room. Or Radek being immobilized by empty cardboard boxes. Or Vladena wanting Nancy, rather than a jeweler to affix the jewels in the crown, and the totally arbitrary stipulation that you have to spin them 3 times once you've placed them. The best thing I can say for Nancy's acting is that she's better than Miss Clue. Taser Rings aren't powerful enough to knock someone out cold, they'd be too dangerous to sell if they could. You liked the ending, but can you explain why Vladena still has the upper hand at the end, even though she's out cold on the floor? If she wakes up, it's a game over, even tough she's outnumbered. Can't Nancy just relieve her of any weapons she's carrying? It's an improvement on MID, but this game is more fun to watch someone else play, than to play oneself. MID wasn't even fun to watch, so getting better. But it's quite possible that we won't ever play KEY or MID again, and will just skip them both when we go through the series (and there are no other games that we skip, not even MED. Maybe we'll reconsider if we get a high end system. BTW, in the first conversation, Patricie says that Nancy has chosen a strange *profession*, so it looks like we've abandoned any remaining pretense of Nancy still being a teen amateur.

An adjunct to this topic is puzzles that are appreciably harder on Senior Detective, and even looking up hints won't help you get past them. For example: Stay Tuned For Danger: On Master Detective you have so little time to complete the final puzzle that it's almost unsolvable. I was almost ready to start the game over on Senior Detective until I got past it by accident. Ransom of the Seven Ships: The Monkey Shooting Gallery puzzle is much harder on Senior. Phantom of Venice: Enrico cheats at Scopa on Senior. Legend of the Crystal Skull: The Bee Puzzle is a lot harder on Senior, and puts a lot more wear and tear on your hand and your mouse button before you can get past it.

Excellent review. Thanks for both the complete review and the spoiler free one. I do think, though, that comparing the new game to Midnight in Salem is wrong because that game was horrible. So anything else would be great. Not a good way to compare. If it could be compared to the ND games in general without MIS in the mix, that would be more clear.

A lot of your videos refer to a game's "Replay Value". That raises the question, exactly how do people replay the games? When we replay them, we start with Secrets Can Kill, and go sequentially from there. Whenever we want to play a Nancy Drew game, we play the one after the last one we played. What other ways do people do it?

I guess I never played this game on Junior Detective before, but I was messing with it tonight and Monkey Shooting Gallery is a LOT easier on Junior. On Senior I lose a lot more often then I win, but on Junior I win every time. I even scored 103 points on it today, which is much higher than I ever scored on Senior.

Came for the unserious graphics, stayed for the voice acting 🤣🤣💕👌
