6:45 "with the rise of fuel prices in the following decades this became a significant concern for owners". these cars didn't make it to the '70's. I don't think when people bought these cars in 1953 they thought ' geez in 20 years it's gonna cost me a fortune to fill up'. What an idiotic thing to say.
I bought a 1952 chevy with the 216 strait 6, it had Babbited rods that splashed oil in the lower end and was great for burning oil unit I switched out for a 235 strait 6. but when the front oil seal went out I lost that engine as well!
The basic premise of this misleading video is just wrong. The list contains models which thousands used and found them reliable with very acceptable performance for the time. The Hudson Pacemaker was the economy slightly smaller model of the Hudson line and in all the owners of pacemakers I NEVER heard of problems with the 232 flathead engine. A lot of wives or commuters had pacemakers. And reports of problems are simply fiction. The comments on the Packards is WAY off base. Wealthy people in the 50's had Packards. The Studebaker's Champions and Hawks were not unreliable. The bodywork's atvtimes had creaks and some vibrations at speed Its just that they Stude's were...well, often Boring. The Brilliant Star Light Coupe's which WAS one of the landmark designs of all time..

It's an AI narrator, and it honestly wouldn't surprise me if it was an AI written script. The way he words stuff is almost unintelligible
I am surprised that you refer to a Studebaker Champion as a "Scotsman". The Scotsman was the Studebaker pickup!
Larry Carroll
The list of crappy cars that only the wealthy could afford would be a lot longer.

In the video when you're talking about the 1957 custom 300, you have a gentleman backing up and driving away in a blue 1959 Ford.
The base engine on the 1957-59 Ford is a 223 Mileage Maker 6.
It seems to me you are describing owners who wanted more than they paid for.
good and like
