Thank you Rodney, really appreciate that! The memories are something you just can't attach a price tag to. Far too many people end up having to sell or somehow lose the vehicles that they learned on or found the automotive passion from. Fortunately this one we still have... and 1 or 2 others hiding around ;)

When I seen the thumb nail I thought it was a GT at first! I have a 1992 Sanoma GT, I was 32yrs. old when I, bought brand new 31yrs. ago! It was a daily driver year round for the first 5yrs. Now it's my summer truck & all around fun truck. It still boogies along & a lot of stepin' that loud peddle lightin' up the rear tires!!! 295-50-15's Fun Fun Fun!!!
I am 77 years old and I have the 1937 chevy 2 door sedan that I drove to high school I am street rodding it now with a 53 ls that has been steeped on a little I was a service manager in gm shop for 30 years we had gmc when the syclone came out boy was that ever fun.
Yeah, that is cool! Took me back to my ‘70s car memories of granddad taking me out in grandma’s ‘67 Cougar and teaching me to drive. The car is gone and they passed a while ago but what a great memory on a Saturday morning. Thanks! I just made my own bad turbo decision but I will share that on the other channel.
The vehicle I had the most fun with was a 1984 Dodge Colt. It had a 1.8L Turbocharged and fuel injected 4 cylinder engine, with an 8 Spd trans. 4spds plus a high-low range selector and 13" wheels. I got it for a couple of hundred bucks because it was too rusty to pass vehicle safety inspection. I took it apart and completely rebuilt the strut towers, the front fenders and the drivers side door. The range selector was frozen solid. With a bit of heat and a lot of penetrating oil I got it working again. I adjusted the clutch linkage, replaced the entire exhaust system with a. 2 1/2" straight pipe and put a set of 185/60 x13 tires on it. It was just about as close to the ultimate sleeper as you could hope to get. All the repairs I did were within the body shell so with a bit of care I was able to leave the original white enamel paint un damaged so it looked almost stock. The only "give aways" were the tires and exhaust. The high point of it's career was racing a Toyota RX-7 up interstate 95 at speed in excess of 120MPH. Father forgive me for I have sinned!
Power tour would be amazing! I've given myself 1 more year to buy something cool for the first time since I was 17 and go on the power tour with my kids.
They ARE super rare up they still exist, unfortunately most people who own them never drive them. Will say the first time I stopped for gas I had 4 different groups of people come up to check it out, none of which had seen one in person before.
DAMN YOU AUSTIN! You are making my list of want to have even longer! Buick GNX is one of them, and maybe its a relative to the GMC Syclone? Hmm... maybe an 4WD Astro Van could be fun to, with a turbo added.
I had a 1967 Fairlane GTA with a 428cj with quite a few modifications and made 600+ to the rear wheels in 1990-1993. With the compression it had I ran it on aviation gas. Full body all steel, full interior and with slicks it ran 10.32@138mph in a1/4 mile. It was a hand full on the street even as a car that weighed 3600lbs. I've owned a few old classic muscle cars up to a 2014 Mustang 5.0 performance package car starting with my first car a 1968 Mercury Cougar XR7. I am retired but I get the addiction because that's what it is, isn't it great?!! I have a project 1998 Mustang GT that getting the money/parts together to put another motor in it. Leave the all original Syclone and build a tribute highly modified version that won't make you cry it you blow it up.
Most people got rid of these vehicles as old used cars or unfortunate family situations! That sucker is definitely quick! It makes me sick when family members that are not car people force people to get rid of vehicles as junk 😡! You’re very fortunate ❤️❤️😊💯
My first car was an 87 Fox body mustang I was forced to build with heads and a supercharger because my 6 closest friends had a typhoon, a a grand national, a purple ZR1 original year it came out, an Iroc Z, and an Eagle Talon.....all of them built to shit and of course I was the slowest regardless of what I added to it😂. Great story Austin. Not just for beautiful Syclone, but for the personal story about it. Yes, take it on the power tour and yes modify it a little but leave the stock look to it.....
That truck is beautiful. And the story behind it makes it priceless. Keep it stock and enjoy that thing. When you are 80 it will still be the coolest mini truck ever built.
My buddy had a 95 S10 SS when I was in high school that he tried to turbo the 4.3 unsuccessfully as we didn't have the technology we have now back in 1998 so he ended up v8 swapping an LT1 into it and was obviously fast. I say that because we had a Syclone in our neighborhood that we raced quite a few times and NEVER were able to beat stop light to stop light because of that AWD.
BTW, If you want to check out a really odd ball from back in the day, search for the V8 Beretta AWD prototype. My buddy and I always said we were going to V8 swap our Berettas. But it was hard enough to change the plugs with a V6, much less a V8.
I worked with a Chinese fellow that had one of those. He is the most "American" Chinese person ever as evident by his vehicle. He and the hotrod pickup define the Church of bad decisions.
I went looking for one about 20 years ago, the ones I found were trashed. VERY cool truck Austin, lucky dog. That truck just hooks and books. I admit, I am a bit jealous. I also looked for a Grand National, but the ones I found were either $$$$$$ or trashed. That truck would be great for Power Tour. Looking forward to The Church of bad decisions. Thanks for sharing, Stay safe, God Bless.
so my first car at the tail end of 1986 was a lightly used, and very rare, 1985 Ford Escort gt turbo. Fords new performance group SVO's first offering. i wanted a Mustang GT, but my Dad knew better, and he co-signed my loan on the Escort. my first bad decision in the auto world. it was a fun car, and it was really fast. so fast that it easily hung with my buddies IrocZ camaro. got my first ticket in that car, and for a decade or two it was downhill after that lol. 2 years later in 1987 my senior year in high school, early spring i traded in the Escort GT on a used 83 mustang gt with T-tops. first street race in that car on Woodward ave, i got beat by a blue 4 door Dodge Omni GLHS👍. id love to have both of my first two cars back today. theres actually debate on the internet that the 83-85 Escort GT turbos even existed so few were made, well i had one, it was a 1.6L british Kent motor with a T3 style turbo blown through a carb, with limited slip 5 speed FWD.
There are a ton of awesome rides from this era, fortunately we have a couple of them, unfortunately they are all climbing fast out of enthusiast pricing and into investor pricing. As for HRPT... maybe. Not sure how well it would be received AND we have soooo many other cool rides we could potentially bring for this year!
I think the truck or the stealth would be cool. Don’t see many running around. I did find a 92 twin turbo 300zx here in Arkansas if you want to snag it up. Lol It’s way to rich for my blood.
Love every single S-series truck GM ever made, I Have had many including my first truck was an 87' 4cyl 4speed heat was the only comfort thing it even had, zero options, not even a radio. I still have my 1982 S-10 SBC 355, B&M TH350 trans, w2700 B&M stall, Wilwood brakes, QA-1 and Bell tech suspension.
Love it, I was a full-size GM truck fan, loved the 454ss, the dished chrome wheels were such a great stock look. I’ve owned 2 OBS sports and I’m sure I’ll own another OBS Sport or SS truck at some point. What a great era, late 80s through the mid 90’s made the people who are picking up today’s car culture from the old-timers.
With just simple bolt on''s you can get that thing into the low 12's with no problem and still be reliable. I have a 1992 Typhoon and it has a set of 80 pound injectors, a hellcat fuel pump, a turbotweak chip (with premium and E85 tunes), deleted the EGR, 3 bar map sensor, 160 degree thermostat and run it on E85....When I drive it most people don't even know what it is. I love when the kids in their Mustangs and rice honda's pull up next to me at a red light thinking they are going to beat the little Blazer........their jaw drops when I completely blow them away. Fun fast little trucks that are rare. 0 to 60 in 4.3 seconds. It will hook up on gravel.....
That's part of why it's sooooo tempting to modify, getting into the 11s or better.... knowing how I am it would happen. If it were ANY other car there's a good chance it would happen but we've had this thing 30+ years and haven't touched it yet... I dunno maybe I'm nut but feel like should keep it original. But MAN is it tempting! And yes, dusting just about anything from a light is super fun 👍 👌
I had an ‘87 S10 long box with the non-venerable 2.8L V6 as a winter beater. It was the exact opposite of everything that your truck represents. It’s been a few years now but I used to have nightmares that I had tucked it away in my father’s barn in its decrepit state. Thankfully it went to the scrapyard 20+ years ago and the memories I don’t want to relive.
Nice truck, definitely don't see a Syclone in this condition every day. Recently saw a GM Syclone Restomod in a full size version ... GM definitely needs to get onboard and make it happen, it looks Badass !!
@@overlybuilt5110 are you running stock heads? Compression on THIS on is about 9 : 1 so would have to keep boost low or we're gonna get into some bad sounds
@@LucoreAuto we are running propane, so we are able to run more compression (9.6:1) engine is stock with only forged pistons, Comp 256H cam and R4B intake. Also ARP rod, main and head bolts. Propane is 105-110 octane, similar benefits and tuning to E85 but dry fuel vapor.
If you saw at the end of the video, I've definitely got a soft spot in my heart for the 6G72 platform with my Stealth RT/TT! Turbo swaps on these things aren't TOO terrible, as long you have access to a lift!
I got ruined when I was 4-5 years old and my brother had a friend with a black 68 camaro 327 4 speed, that car did it for me. Then the movie better off dead cancer out and I watched and recorded that movie just cause of the camaro. Now I’m telling my age 😂
I always liked the Cyclone and Typhoon. They were cool. I liked them better than the Dodge Stealth and Mitsubishi 3000 both AWD. This was my dream truck. Thanks for the video.
I always wondered if GM did anything to that 4.3 besides stick a turbo on it??? Cam? Forged pistons? Did they do anything to it? I have a friend that took over the payments on another guys Grand National that was about to get repoed. He had it for about 2 months before the guy took it back! Talk about bad decisions! And lessons learned.
A Syclone that's original, and it's your dad's since new? Those are the best ones, because of the family ties. I envy you bro! I hope you have hours, and hours of time behind the wheel of your absolutely WICKED Syclone! Give your dad a high five from all of us! PEACE ✌️
Wash the truck then park it in the garage. OK Power Tour would be fun. Then park it. I drove them all of mine until I couldn't. 55 2 door post, 64,65,70 Chevelle SSs. 65,72 Nova. 4) 64-66 Chevy trucks. 68,70 Chevy trucks. 71 Vega LT1350T400. The fastest most fun and cheapest Hot Rods I owned. A story behind each car.
My father had a 92 Sonoma GT black with the same interior but non turbo still a pretty quick truck back in the day. He blew the engine and sold it before I could swap a 350 sbc in it not sure if that truck is around still.
Definitely tune but only modify what can be reversed back to stock. Power tour definitely. Bad decisions....only in the eyes of the wife. Church of bad decisions we have all probably been there with a hot rod or two, but a Cyclone never! Even my 91 2.8s10 was a rusty but mostly trusty truck I wish I still had and if it wasn't for Bambi I would still have, as a first for my 15 n half to begin learning with an uncommon three pedal system
My brother worked for General Motors and retired with 32 years making s10’s here in Shreveport Louisiana does your truck have the alligator on the inside of the door there where the information is ?
That truck and grip and pull. Wish you guys were closer could really use your services. Not much out here like what you guys do I have an a whoooo Dick Herrell super car tribute id like a shake down just done

I have to scratch my head about this being a "bad decision"..... I can see how it got you into quirky rides... but in no way was this ever a "Bad Decision".

Just joined the group wish I had a story
Three rad AF rides
Take it on power tour it will definitely turn heads
I have a gmc typhoon and I recently surprised a mustang. He wasn't expecting a suv to move that fast especially a "jimmy"
Looks like you need a wiper motor pulse board if your wipers are stuck randomly on your windshield. I have had 5. Currently have a Sy and a Ty.
I know what it is but I never saw one before. My brother had a few s10s back in the day with small blocks in them that’s the closest we had lol
Clean it up and leave it all stock. Definitely take it on power tour.
She's a bit dirty and dusty from storage, and that cladding is ALWAYS a nightmare but she's clean and solid with a little attention 👌
PLEASE 🙏🏼🙏🏼 TURBO THE 304!!!
Love the channel and all the “Bad Decisions” 😎😈🤪
You know thats actually something we have been seriously considering, throwing a bit of boost at the 304. It's certainly not out of the question!
@@LucoreAuto we’re currently running 16-20lb on one in a rock crawler, there are a few videos on our channel.
I still have my first hotrod ish car 3000gt vr4 can't drive it at the moment it has a bad turbo smokes like crazy
Keep it clean and drive it on Sundays.
Love this video... Please...Please don't do one thing to that .. intend build one with an AWD ASTRO van and s10.
Badass little truck I've always wanted one i don't blame you for never wanting to get rid of it I know I sure wouldn't get rid of it if I had it
🤜💥🖐️🤘 light modification and if you can’t get the Shelby going definitely power tour it
I always liked the Cyclone and Typhoon.
I was asking if you wanted to sell till you said it was your Dad's great you still have it
Can't tell you how many people asked if it was for sale just over the last few days. Will promise though, this thing will NEVER be for sale.
I have a 92 Typhoon and I’m helping my best friend build another 92 Typhoon
great story and awesome truck but none of that explains the love of Pontiac Vibes and your collection of Eagle vehicles.
Well they are interesting odd unique and "fun" soooo... right? ;) And these AMCs are PRE Eagles! ;)
Love ur truck, nice I always loved em I have 5 lol one x box fh3
My father had a 92 Sonoma GT black with the same interior but non turbo still a pretty quick truck back in the day. He blew the engine and sold it before I could swap a 350 sbc in it not sure if that truck is around still.
91 Syclone with 15,000 miles for sale $74,995.00
Yikes! Heck of a machine for sure but at that point it's an investment not a car
Amen! In the name of the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Or however that goes...
There was a 91 GMC cyclone truck in Urbana Ohio I remember in like 93 ,was 91 GMC was only year ?? I saw it in motor trend mag in 91
Clean it up and make more memories.
Preach!
Cyclone ride along?
Happy to 😀
Definitely tune but only modify what can be reversed back to stock.
It's sweet truck and I would keep it like it is because you are not going to find to many that is still original
Love the truck with the 4.3 back in the day not the new 4.3 junk 96 -2005
What do I do to get with you to get my prize
My brother worked for General Motors and retired with 32 years making s10’s here in Shreveport Louisiana does your truck have the alligator on the inside of the door there where the information is ?
Are you going to reach out to Raggedy Ann? And do front-end Alignment??
Is he at the point of needing that done? We will certainly help out!
That truck and grip and pull. Wish you guys were closer could really use your services. Not much out here like what you guys do I have an a whoooo Dick Herrell super car tribute id like a shake down just done
HOWdy LUCORE, ...
churching of BAD decisions - LOL
Thanks for the SIGH-clone EDUCATION ...
will there be a " COLLECTION-PLATE " being passed around ? 🙂
COOP
the WiSeNhEiMeR from Richmond, INDIANA
...
My entry in bad decisions came from my dad only being able to afford old shit from the 60s and 70s
72 dart swinger and a 74 gold duster yes im a mopar guy
Detail , Maintance, and leave it alone and enjoy
I have to scratch my head about this being a "bad decision"..... I can see how it got you into quirky rides... but in no way was this ever a "Bad Decision".
