Just learned about the Great Emu War and feel like you guys need to talk about it. Giant birds defeated Australians armed with machine guns. And supposedly the emus were organized and used guerilla tactics, of the roughly 20,000 emus less than 1,000 were killed.

Brown bear should have lost to the rhino. After coming off a win against a polar bear the rhino should have no problems with the smaller brown bear. Plus we would have ended with a rhino vs hippo final and we have actual video of that encounter

If it were ranked differently maybe the brown bear loses to the rhino and polar bear wins against the hippo.
The fact that the polar bear lost to the rhino but the grizzly bear somehow bears it is absolutely ridiculous… rhino is easily the winner of the whole thing and it’s not close
This is why I like Forrest Galante -- because he's extremely smart, yet never tries to speak on topics he doesn't know of because he knows that even though he's smart, he is not versed in every single thing. And on top of his intelligence, humbleness, and genuine care for animals, he's just a normal dude that curses and drinks and just hangs out. He's a blast to listen to and I always find myself completely immersed in all he says!

Being a dad was the best thing to happen to me, but yeah you need a break after awhile. Kids are the job that doesn’t stop, when it’s good it’s good, when it’s bad you have two crying kids that both just pooped and one is playing in it.

The March Madness Battle Royale was by far the most fun game y'all have ever played, I love these games so much and I love playing along, make me feel like I'm down the pub talking shit. Please do another bracket type tournament style game around the Stanley Cup!
However Forrest is INSANE for thinking a gorilla could beat a bison. I know gorillas are insanely strong, but a bison's neck and shoulders are stronger, a gorilla couldn't break a bison's neck. A bison can kick, roll, they have sharp horns, a gorilla has big teeth but bison face down grizzly bears. It's a bison for me
This needs to happen at every major sporting event, awesome podcast guys

Loved the bracket, a few things I may disagree with lol, but definitely one of my favorite things you guys did.
This bracket scenario would be awesome to hear you do another... BUT the damage compounds. So the fight in round 2, both animals start with the damage they sustained from round 1 and so on... making the bracket even more interesting. Love the video gents!

It's all context. I love the giant river otter. The way they operate they would hunt in packs verses the lone polar bear. Some would die against the bear, but enough of them would attack from too many sides.
One on one, well that's not fair.

How to you take rhino over polar bear but brown bear over rhino??? Polar bears being larger than brown bears and the only fully carnivorous bear? Love your guys podcast haha and loved this! Please do it again next march!
The max size difference between a brown bear and polar bear isn’t really all that much. Not to mention Brown bears successfully compete with wolves, tigers, pumas and even polar bears for food. It could go either way if those two were matched up, but I’d have my money on the fatter brown bear.
They have the weight on a polar bear sure. but the polar bear is going to be faster and larger
@@tylerkrebs2946 on average the polar bear is larger for sure. However the average mammalian prey type, and predator competition, for the brown bear vastly overshadows the PB. While polar bears overwhelmingly hunt seals... brown bears will hunt moose, elk, bison and other large terrestrial threats. The Polar bear may be a strictly carnivorous bear, but that has more to do with its habitat/niche.
A Kodiak Brown bears claws are way larger than a polar bear.

50:15 Quick google search shows a maned wolf is 4 times the weight of a sloth so voting harpy eagle over maned wolf because harpy eagles can take on sloths makes absolutely no sense
Regarding your final match up, I have a stat that was not mentioned. Considering the rediculous angle that a hippos mouth can open, and the fact that a hippos head ALONE weighs *500+ lbs*: some part of the brown bear gets severed and it bleeds out in 20 seconds. No amount of 3 limb shredding for 20 sec(max) kills a hippo.

Haha maybe. But brown bears do avoid getting trampled by moose and have no issues taking them down. I don't think the rhino would be agile enough to get the bear

Just wanted to point out that Bison have derailed train cars by ramming them, they can run almost 40mph at that weight, they can jump over a 6ft fence, they can kick in any direction with their back legs, and they can bounce around like a springbok... AT 2200 POUNDS, some get even bigger. And thats just a few neat things they can do. Its like Shaquille O'Neal doing a gymnastics floor routine.
Also, whether its a death match or not, gorillas dont know how to fight. They can't effectively use their strength and rarely bite. That's not just hearsay, it's from a primatologist, several actually. Its one of the reasons we can't accurately calculate their strength, they can't recruit muscles like chimps and humans and just don't know how.

I think one thing that applies here it’s very important that they do have in March madness is who has home court advantage. I think that makes all the difference in these matchups I think you have to consider the hippo in the salty meeting in the water. They’re both aquatic and also what if they met on landed it might be a different game altogether.
