Dear Filip. Your playing technique is incredible. Your air control is very unique. You are playing complex phrases with minimal force to your lungs. You can achieve very dramatic effects without making harmonica squaling.
Maybe that is why it is so hard to distinguish the difference by ear. I'm sure you feel the difference as a player, but to me as a listener, both versions sound almost equal. Apparently, wooden covers are made by Trung Nguyen. Trung installs metal resonators inside his covers, which makes comparison even harder. By the way, I like your choice of rosewood, with deep burgundy color and beautiful texture.

I also did not notice any large difference (probably because you play so well that even my cheap chromatic would sound terrific if YOU were to play it). Nevertheless the wood covers do produce a more mellow, warm tone, while the metal covers are brighter but also "thin" and "sharp" (not sharp in the musical sense, but sharp as compared to soft & comfortable). Since this is really very much a personal preference, I can only really say that for me (or when you might visit me and bring a chromatic harp to play) I like the wood cover somewhat better (so be sure to bring the wood covers in case you come for a visit 🤪). 😇

Beautiful! The metal sounds brighter, more resonance. The wood covers, a deeper shade of mellow- a woody tone. When are you going to make a jazz standards album?

Hi Filip, great playing and tone. Did you get your wood cover for the Sirius from Suzuki, or is this custom made?

This one is hand made from a luthier in Vietnam. Suzuki makes great wood combs as well. I like having a few different wood combs to change around the look, sound and feel of the instrument 🎶🎶🎶

Filip, another great performance by You, and its only a demo!
Not a great deal of difference, except that the wood makes it more round and mellow. Metal is sharper, but I would not mind owning both of them.. Its like the classical guitar - spruce vs cedar - spruce mellow, cedar sharp.
What are the brands, that You are playing here?
Can You please tell me, if Swan 16 chromatic is good for beginners and intermediate?

interesting. i don't think the audio difference was huge for me. it the wood felt a little more mellow, but mostly i felt your playing got more mellow when you picked up the wood cover harp. ;)

Yes I play different with wood/metal covers. The feel is totally different and the sound/phrasing changes. Don't know why. Buy I like it :-)

While I would say that the wood covers sounded mellower, to be honest the difference in sound was really very minimal to me. I would bet that if you were to do a blind test and at times tried to consciously play with a thinner tone with the wood covers and a mellower tone with the metal covers many listeners would have a hard time distinguishing which was which.

Wood covers!make it sound more homogeneous, between the registers...
