  • G'day. In this video I explain what aeration is and how it improves the health of water and aquatic ecosystems.
Aeration simply means adding oxygen to water. Oxygen is the backbone to any healthy aquatic ecosystem-keeping plants, animals and “good” microbes alive. These “good” microbes-aerobic bacteria who thrive in oxygenated environments-are the key to a healthy dam. They feed on the sludge on the floor of your dam and starve out algae and weeds by consuming their nutrients (e.g. nitrogen, phosphorus). They also eradicate smells by outcompeting “bad” microbes which emit odours.

Great explanation, indeed that reduces odour in water systems!
