    As others have pointed out - 120Hz TVs do 5:5 pulldown, so the cadence of 24fps is preserved and each frame is flashed five times. In the case of Sony, they actually use 4:4 pulldown (96Hz) on their 120Hz TVs.
    3:2 pulldown is only necessary for 60Hz TVs.
    You are 100% correct about stutter.
    On a 2022 and up LG, use Cinematic Movement. On a Sony, Smoothness 1/Cinemotion Low is a sweet spot, and on Samsungs Judder 1-2 will not introduce too much SOE, but still more artifacts than LG or Sony.

      Ive been noticing the stutter on my 83" C2 and I don't notice it on my 42" C2 or my C9 65". Was thinking the screen was so much larger, everything is enhanced on the 83" and the others just weren't big enough to notice. To be fair, I don't use the 42" that much for TV watching, it's more a monitor/TV. So maybe it does have stutter, but I don't notice it. Been using Cinematic Movement and I guess it helps.

    • @mugabugaYT
      @mugabugaYT Месяц назад

      @@michael-4k4000 It definitely gets worse as screen size increases, I never notice it on my OLED phone or monitor but it's very noticable on my 65" LG C1

      Yeah once a month a single topic would make sense. Some ideas: VRR Gaming on TVs, Burn-In, OLED vs. Mini-Led Pros and Cons, Personal topic for Caleb would be interesting, or Microled or Future of Display tech etc.

    Wait, you can divide 120 evenly by 24. Also at least my TV sized monitor has a 24fps mode, that it uses when motion matching is enabled on my Chromecast.

    • @JimPV1
      @JimPV1 Месяц назад

      How do the newer 144 hz sets do 24 fps? I assume as well as 120 hz (6:6 pulldown - ?)

    • @TvjaMonitori
      @TvjaMonitori Месяц назад

      @JimPV1 I'm not sure if they really do 6:6 pulldown but basically yes If that tv is natively 144hz panel. That's why many higher refresh rates can be divided by 24 like: 240, 360, 480.

    Another fun and informative episode of You Asked. When you brought up whether you should devote an episode to a particular question, I wasn’t so sure. Keep it the way it is! If you wait around for enough questions on a topic, you may miss out on a hot topic question that just hit the news and just became extra relevant. I like this approach a lot better-plus you probably get more views because we have to continue to watch everything fearing that we might miss something. Why make it hard on yourself-maybe you could re-answer the question in the dedicated videos you make inevitably on some of these topics, but don’t replace this awesome format.

  • @rochitroy5893

    While grouping topics is a good idea, I feel a seperate series where you tackle a topic by first explaining what the updates one must know that happened since the last time you tackled the topiic (like a change in standard etc.) followed by the typical queries you received along with their explaination; could be potentially better to a) summarise and b) keep-up to date.

    Yes to one video on different topics. I've just dialled my LG CX to correct setting and before always used dynamic tone mapping. Recently I was trying to get my tv to look like the HDR on my phone and realized dynamic tone mapping off gives me a better HDR picture in all content and brings my tv exactly as good as my iphone 13 pro except the slight lower brightness in rare scenes. I wish I had this info sooner

    Keep the current multi-topic format. There's a pretty good chance I'll be interested in 1-2 questions and will hang around for the others. If you do a single topic on which I have no interest I'll just give that episode a hard pass. I guess, in part, it comes down to how much do you want cater to most of your viewers versus a small(er) subset. Keep up the great work.
    Your response regards today's question regarding audio problems with Apple is a perfect example. Problem resolution can be vexing. First you reassure by stating it's not the users fault which can be comforting and then you give a great example of how to isolate components. Succinct and clearly stated.

    Is the color purity difference between the lg g series and qd-oled noticable if they are not side by side? and kind of a related question when does wrgb use the white sub-pixel? Is it all the time or only when the rgb sub-pixels aren't able to provide enough brightness? I mostly watch sdr content so there is not a ton of brightness but I am a pleb who likes saturated colors so have my tv use its native color gamut even on sdr content. I feel like my question would probably still apply in hdr too when its not trying to crank out bright highlights. Thanks so much i love your content and have really learned a lot!

    6:09 it's far less common on phones for the reasons Caleb mentioned, but you can still see it occasionally on some phones. If you go to a cell carrier store and you check out an older model phone (read: display unit has been cycling through demo videos while idle for months) and you can sometimes see burn in. But yeah any sort of normal usage will very rarely lead to burn in nowadays. It used to happen more when phone OLED screens were a new tech, but manufactures have gotten so good that you can use a phone for years and years without issue of burn in as long as you're not blatantly abusing it with static images like Caleb said.

If you like a certain audio mode and it's crackling, just toggle from the mode to another, select it, and then toggle back to your preferred mode. I quit DirecTV streaming about a year and a half ago, so things could have changed but I doubt they have. Their streaming service has lower bit rate and dark scenes always looked really poor to me. They do have HD channels broadcasting in 1080i and 720p. I would say that OTA resolution looks about 20-25% better than DirecTV stream did. I got on demand streaming services, for programming not available on OTA, with no ads. A lot of content is available in 4k or higher bit rate 1080p with the apps, than my DirecTV stream or cable had.

    This crackle which you hear while using 77A95L with A7000 is typical for systems using Sony function called Acoustic Center Sync, which lets you use Sony TV and Soundbar speakers at the same time. It's not a problem with one broken component, it just works that way. The only way to repair it is to turn off the function altogether, but maybe you can try some better quality 3.5mm jack cable than the one supplied with a soundbar.

    When you show hockey games you almost always show the Detroit Red Wings, are you a Wings fan? A former Detroiter asking, also I trust your reviews completely as I purchased a Hisense U8K based on your review and I couldn’t be happier.

    Love your content, watching from Alberta Canada, My Cable Provider only spits out 60Hz max, so my 75U88 Hisense isn't getting enough Pop....my son XBOX has great picture quality, so he is taking over my Man Cave.😅😅

    I dropped FiOS TV specifically because of picture quality issues. Horrible compression artifacts, especially on dark scenes. This was when YTTV was $35 and only existing as a phone app and website so it's been a while. I don't know if FIOS has gotten better since then but YTTV is at least as good as FIOS was when I dropped it. Beyond the picture quality, which is fine IMO obviously depending on the source which can sometimes be sub-optimal, the features are enough that I'll never switch back to standard cable again.

    My LGB9 is still amazing! I had the opportunity to buy the s95b when it came out, and I do kick myself for not getting it when I had the chance, but to be honest, my LGB9 is damn near perfect. I don't like the way the menu and all has changed with the latest update, as it seems like it has less features now. Mike, just to pop up a menu, I used to be able to pop up the menu when I was on it movie watching the movie, but now it takes me to a separate menu, and completely away from the content that i was watching.

    Maybe alternate: Burning news questions & Topic specific questions!?
    So you can bring hot topics quickliy to viewers and also make videos that tackle a topic comprehensively, so that it's worth revisiting it, because you know what you get if you search for an personal problem topic whenever it happens.

    Focusing on one topic feels like a different style of video especially if focused narrowly on a topic. I think it could work with broad focus (tv, audio, music…etc) but getting into one super specific topic is better for a normal video. Also I could see people skipping a video if the topic is of no interest as a whole which would be a shame. As a question/idea is there a blog spot where I can easily find specific questions that have been asked from the you asked series?

    I prefer the current format with different questions. I feel if you do one thing i.e. Dolby atmos and those people that don't have it or care for it won't tune in. Just my 2 cents. On a side note I have sony wh1000xm5 headphones that I use via bluetooth to my 77sonya80j and experience crackle/static noise when watching the tv. However when I connect my headphones to my pc I experience none of that feedback. I think it's something on Sony's end.

    I intentionally have the full blast brightness all the time even indoors 24/7 with oled and non oled displays on any device that uses a display. I always have burn in issues with every oled device that I use. It's why I wish there was an option for mini led displays for smartphones and portable external monitors to eliminate burn in oled issues. I'm used to using very bright displays. I have been doing it for years since I developed it as a habit ever since I started to crank the brightness sliders maxed out like video game settings maxed out and I don't use iPhones but android devices and other devices that uses oled displays. The white colors from the oled displays turn yellow like a clear cell phone case that turns yellow. The brightness have even decreased over time. The non oled display is my 4k tv since my tv is the 65 inch samsung curve qled 4k tv from 2017.

    Hi. It would be a great idea to make videos about one topic. People just don't have a lot of time to read hundreds of pages about the different type of cables, sound standards and so on.

    Personally I think doing a more topic based approach is a very good idea! It is easier for me to figure out if the content will be interesting and it makes it a lot easier to search and go back and watch again in case I am struggling with a specific topic.
    But what you need to consider though is that some people might skip a video they otherwise wouldn't because they are not interested in the topic. But they will like the videos they do watch a lot more 😉

    One thing I'd love to have. clarified: I don't really know what the "soap opera effect" LOOKS like, nor the difference between judder and stutter, Would be cool to see a video demo of those things, but I realiae seeing it on my laptop screen, it may not translate (kinda like listening to a $150,000 music system… on my laptop speakers).
