  • City leaders have been on the front line of tackling the pandemic. Cities were among the places hit first and hardest, and leaders have been making difficult decisions about restricting businesses, schools, and large gatherings --decisions that have real economic, political, and social consequences. They have had to innovate and meet a challenge for which there is no playbook. What lessons can we take from local solutions and interventions that worked, across healthcare, education, and beyond? How do we create an ecosystem in our cities that fosters collaboration and problem-solving? How do we create more resilient cities that are prepared for future shocks?
Session recorded at the What Works Summit 2022 in Banff, Canada. It was moderated by Matthew Bishop, Co-founder and Board Member, Social Progress Imperative; Visiting Senior Fellow, The Brookings Institution. With the participation of Jyoti Gondek, Mayor of Calgary and Chokwe Antar Lumumba, Mayor of Jackson, Mississippi.
