Killer demo. I own an earlier Ampeg SS70 that can do killer death metal and this sounds very close. A tube screamer vst would probably clean up that that loose bottom end.

Well, I use GuitarRig 5 Skreamer and Noise Reduction in front of it, then I go through Vadim Taranov's CabDriver2 and then through NadIR with Gods' Cab IRs loaded. Sounds better than Emissary and LePou plugins IMO.

I wonder if the real flexwave sounds this awesome

There is no proper test on the web TBH. As every solidstate amp - probably gonna be killer miced up with good cab and quite shitty in room with garbage one.

This ampsim isn't really based on VH-140C, because Flexwave isn't a VH-140C clone. Flexwave amps had preamps which were based on VH-140C, but had one or two gain stages removed, therefore had less gain than the Ampeg. Only Crates that were Ampeg clones (but with different voicings, however) are GTX3500 Tidalwave, GX-130C and Excalibur (though I'm not entirely sure about this one).

You're right. But the whole purpose of this upload is to get more attention to really old, unknown plugin, that :
1 Is emulating solidstate guitar amp
2 Is the option for those who cannot afford/don't want to spend money on VH-140c; to get this amp here to Poland it would cost me about 970$ USD, I could get Mesa Dual, or JCM 800 for that...
3 It sounds fucking great! :)

This is pretty cool. The Crate VTX350 is an exact VH-140c clone - but I don't believe the Excalibur is (I had one a while back - sounded more like the GT3500 Shockwave which definitely isn't like the VH-140c) . The GX-130c wasn't so much a clone but basically the same amp released under separate branding at the same time (SLM owned both Crate and Ampeg at that time). Basically the only differences betweeen the VH-140c and the GX-130c are that the boards are flipped - mounted to bottom of enclosure on the Crate and the top of enclosure on the Ampeg so the controls are laid out reversed, and some minor control changes to differentiate the Crate version (a few additional switches on the Crate for controlling chorus vs a push-pull pot on the Ampeg).

@@caljerm Totally forgot, VTX350 is a refaced GTX3500 Tidalwave, Crate themselves said that back in the day. GX130C has a slightly different voicing compared to Ampeg (Low Mid High at 100Hz 1000Hz 3200Hz on Ampeg vs 80Hz 800Hz and 5000Hz on Crate).
BTW, finally got myself a Crate XLP preamp, it rips.

@Infernal 777 GX120 is a completely different amp. Crate had a lot of GX series amps, but most of them were only distantly related to each other. Besides, I've learnt that it was a myth about GX130C being a VH140C clone. They are very different, too. The only one that's a real clone is the Tidalwave, and still, it has a different voicing.
