- I always loved this classic, Depeche Mode song; the progression; the melody, the groove...oh so good.
Here's my long-time bass student, Kaylynn playing over the track with original basslines we created.
For me, when it comes to basslines, I like the locked-in groove, but with counter-melody. That's what we have here; and I couldn't be more proud of K for pulling it off because this ended up being not the easiest bass piece to play.
Keep the momentum going, K. :)

Superb improv! Adds a new layer to one of my fave DM tracks. In a parallel universe there would be a full studio mix with this bass part! Just slightly busier than the original without going over the top!

This feels more like an improv, not that I'm complaining.
Oh.....it was an idea I had at the time with Kaylynn....to demonstrate how easy it is to be creative; so I created this for her as a teaching tool to build confidence....and it seemed to work; she's very creative today. Plus.....it's so difficult to find bass backing tracks that we like....so....I brought in songs I thought we could put bass on top of; an unusual idea.....but I'm a very determined guitar teacher. ;)
