You know, after learning how unpleasant Ellen is as a person, it's kind of apparent in her "pranks" --- a lot of them seem much more mean-spirited with the benefit of hindsight.
I saw it before the revelations, and I’m glad others now realize how mean spirited a lot of her “comedy” is.
I dislike her. Glad that the truth came out of her doings.

Graham Norton literally did the same thing here, but you didn't call that out. Ellen was poke-y and playful.
You only think she was mean-spirited because the media told you she was. Her teasing was edgy, but it's literally the kind of humor that people wanted. Things have changed in ten years where no one wants to be offended by any single thing, and that's not sustainable.
It's only the front edge of the internet that is upset by it. Everyone else rolls their eyes, but still shuts up because of the vocal police-ers and the insane algorithms
Graham Norton, Craig Ferguson, Conan O'Brien. You feel like home with your drunk family in Grahams show, Craig is an authentic flirt machine and unscripted and Conan really knows how to smooth up situations with jokes and overall taking it to the next level with comedy. Golden times.

Well I got caught. I never saw that clip and just saw the complete sketch to verify after reading your comments guys. It was really funny, but not in this video here: by the "magic" of editing, it looked like she was really insulted and pissed off. Not too representative of the real context.

I cannot stand Ellen. And all of the “practical jokes” she played were meant to humiliate. They’re not for fun. I didn’t see one that was truly funny. She’s good at humiliating guests as well as her employees. Many celebs would never return to her show and some were still speaking out against her a year after she went off the air.
