Driving Through Flash Flood! Almost Lost It!

- Wow! had to post this one soon as I could LOL. I could not mount my camera on the mount because my wiper blade broke and all I would film is wet window in that spot, that is why my nephew had to hold the camera. You notice it looks like the jeep is about to roll over....it was not it was just the way he was holding it. I shot more film of other spots and we went through another water road as well (will put in another video).

You can say that again! If I knew it was that deep I would not of went through it. I think it was around 3 feet deep that I went through. When we drove up to it it gave the allusion that it was not that deep or long so I thought hey lets drive through and film lol The second one we drove through was about half as deep in the other video, we followed another jeep through. After watching the video I notice the water at one point went over the bug shield!

I was in a similar situation but I had to go back (very fast) when the top of the hood entered in the water. I think it was a matter of second! Since then I am smarter! :-)

Well a few months later (maybe 6) the radiator went bad and had to replace it. But not totally sure if it was due to the flood water. Not ruling it out though.
do you need to be in four wheel drive in this situation or will it ruin the vehicle to use 4x4 with a slippery surface
I did have it in 4hi, I would not have tried it in regular drive the water was going to fast I would have been swept away. I goofed up at first and forgot to shut off my traction control and I started to loose power in the engine and when I fig out what was happening I shut that down and the tires grabbed the bottom and pulled me out. Also like I had said in the video I would not have tried to go through this in any other vehicle I had owned in the past. This jeep is my first offroad vehicle I ever owned and the best vehicle I ever owned lol. So to answer your Q. yes I would recommend you be in 4x4 to go through this fast water that way all 4 tiers have power and not just 2. If I knew the water was that deep that fast I would not have went through it, I been down this dirt road many times before this and since this happened. Thanx for watching!

Yes to stock tires and suspension and no to snorkel . I did't even have a lift on it !

I remember when we first started through it , it was not that much water ! When we past the trees it was all of a sudden BAM water came up fast and what the camera did not show was it looked like from all around us we were in the middle of a lake ! No way I would ever in my life do this again so I'm very glade I filmed it !

Umm i dont know how this worked. I was at a flooded bridge, the creak tuned into a river, fast too. I told a lady in a geo metro not to go through it and she told me to f off. As she got to the center, it swept her away. I waved and saluted her as she went by by. I told the fire dept down the road that an idiot in a red geo just got swept away. He said why didnt you stop her? I said, well now theres an idea, lol. I explained that she told me to f off and went anyways. They did not hurry to find her. Lol she got what she deserved. Never try it, you do not know the depth or current. BTW when this happens you need to take your drivetrain apart and clean, dry and grease it all up. Not to mention electrical issues that can occur years later from corrosion.
