Relocating your music files with Rekordbox can be hassle.
in my video about moving your rekordbox library I discussed a method with a couple of downsides
for example you needed to re-analyse all your songs.

but in this video a quicker method that is approved by Pioneer
In this video a method that only works if you have your files in only a couple of different directories

If your music files are scattered around your hard disk this can take a while, because you have to relocate every single file manually.
If a lot of files are in the same directory, Rekordbox can automatically search for other missing files in that same directory.

i have my files stored in different folders on a hd. i want to make another copy of exactly that hd. how will this impact rekordbox when its trying to locate the files. i am using rekordbox 5. in my HD there are many subfolders. do i need the music just in one folder for rekordbox to locate the missing files. I had to do a Time Machine back up from old Mac and now have a newer one. Can’t locate music anymore please help
i have a problem with recordbox i try to export my file but the end a message bomps up and says some file are missing i did the same thing youve done when to recolate the file i got a message that this are no file missing what should i do ?its making me carzy ive downloaded all type of versions and still the same i ve bought the new appel macbook and did have this problem before
Hey so im trying to delete tracks with exclamation marks in my play list...but the file manager says all files exist...it wont let me right click to remove...
Is this the same with windows and do I have to go in to all the sub folders the track are located in or cani just do it though clicking on the main folder
I am trying to figure out how to merge my updated music folders on my usb stick to same un-updated music folders without having to replace the playlist of my old music folder thus having to re analyze every single track just because I am adding 15 new songs to the playlist. Hope that makes sense.

If I change the file from an m4a to an mp3, is it possible to point rekordbox to that file location?
I've tried this method and rekordbox comes up with 'found 0 files'. Even though it can read from the entire directory where all the files are, auto relocate just won't work. Manually relocating does, but doing so for all 1500 songs is basically out of the question.

thank you for this, it saved me a ton of time. only prob is that once I plug my USB into my CDJs I get the "Media file is collapsed or missing" message :( trying to figure it out still :(
I click on "show all missing fires", then click "relocate". I point to the directory of the first missing file and click "open', it tells me, "FILE IS ALREADY IN THE COLLECTION"! Really?! Well, if it's already in the collection, then why is it missing with "!"?! Or why does it show up when you click to display all missing files?! There is only one directory for the file to choose from, and the only directory I could have imported from in the first place! The file works just fine, but I have to import it again, and that would be x1000 files! Any way to solve this?

I'm trying to get this to work but i have multiple subfolders within my main "music" folder breaking it up by artist and then within that by album, however all the files are located within that main folder. Whenever i try to locate the missing files, it will only locate the files within that small subfolder, so basically by album. I've tried putting a track into the main folder thinking that maybe the re-locator just doesn't like looking backwards but it was a no go. I'm at a loss D:

MR.STILØ google how to take all the audio files from the folders and place into a single folder and then try this method it works!

hey man, what if i changed the names of the file?. I recently started to use mixed in key and all my files was changed to have the key and bpm to the end of the file. Now my question is... is there a way to do it automatically (relocate) or i have to go over 2000 files manually?
yeah that could be a bit of a problem if you didn't make a backup.
I would try to see if you could rename the files back with a mass file rename tool (mp3 tag or total commander for example)
Great vid thanks.... I have a problem... I have duplicate s.. one track is fine the other has an exclamation mark. The thing is the one marked has all my cue points..
So when I try to relocate and open the track RB says file already in collection... so I am left with the file in my playlist which has cue points missing whilst the plain in another playlist is fine... hope that makes sense what can I do.

thank you for the video! in my case I moved the tracks from download folder to music folder. now rekordbox would not recognise the iTunes playlist but still recognises the music folder. how can I make it recognise the iTunes playlist? thank you!!

Hi I am djspeed new to macbook I have problem with my music flies I have 3 folders in my document but not seeing them in rekordbox window
you need to drag and drop the files into rekordbox.

Do you have any idea on what to do when a file has been reintroduced to Rekordbox after being moved?
Now, RB will not update the old track to the new location.
if the file fingerprint is the same, rekordbox will recognize it, otherwise you need to redo all the analyzing and manual changes to the song

Cant find any videos on how to prepare playlist for each deck.

You probably want to use the data of the WAV file for the MP3 file.

Rekordbox doesn't know it's the same song, it regards the song as new
i did what teach us in the video but it tells me that ( rekordbox found 0 files ) what should i do ????
you pointed to the right file and it says: 0 files found? Or it found that particular song and the rest not? Case sensitivity can be an issue btw.

that is weird. Somehow it thinks it is another file. maybe the file contents changed???

How do you do this if your music is on a external hard drive
never put music on an external drive (only as a backup or exporting)
A portable hard drive is prone to breaking.
But if still do it, you can point to the external drive.
NOTE: THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY MUSIC TAGGING PROGRAMS
Can someone please please PLEASE HELP ME OUT..... Why is it that when I back up my music files from iTunes to another drive some files lose their tag info? I have 8,800 songs and 1,500 of them lose Artist,Album & Genre When saving to another drive. I NEED HELP. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.
most music programs have a local database, including rekordbox.
I don't know iTunes, because I don't use it because of the terrible user experience.
Only some file formats support extra information like artist and track name (mp3 for example has tags for this info).
When you change meta data and the program doesn't write this to the tags (or the file doesn't support it), the info is lost when transferred to another program.
In rekordbox you can change a setting in the settings-window which tells recordbox to also write artist name etc to a tag or not

Hi, I did a test: I copy my existing music which were cued. Then i changed the folder name and load those music into Rekordbox. What i found out is that the hot cues are gone. How can we fix this issue if we happened to need to read the music from external storage (in case of changing laptop or etc.) ?

the bullshit we have to deal with on TWO THOUSAND NINETEEN... I mean when they gonna simply make an update and put "relocate missing files automaticly" thing and search my fuckin harddrive for same named same sized music files? Is it that hard PIONEEER?
