The cards of star players while they are in the finals is always at a high. I think the timing of when you buy a certain player is a huge factor as well in finding fair comps and not overpaying. I also learned that buying good players while they are hurt is really smart, as sellers will undervalue them. I picked up a ton of Ant Simon’s earlier in the season when he was hurt and Sharpe was balling because sellers were more focused on Shaedon.
That Tyrese Maxey is one beautifully card. Mosaics are definitely my favorite cards. With all of these good tips I’m glad I came across this channel, can’t wait to see what the future holds for it.
It depends on a few things, if it’s a rarer card that doesn’t pop up often odds are it will end up going up or at least not dropping anymore. Also if it’s for your pc then value doesn’t matter. If you’re looking to be flipping I’d say sell it. Not sure exactly the card but let’s say it’s worth 1k and you bought at 2k. If you buy 1k worth of cards and flip for 10% each time. So 10 $100 each week. You’ll be up in no time. Hope that helps and good luck!
Thank you! If a card comps for 200 I would aim to pay under 160, ideally closer to 150. That way if you sell it on eBay you could net around 173 and make 15ish on it!
Great videos love the pace you explain things so clearly. Mine nomination for best card so far is the Duncan and Parker swatch card. I’ve liked and subscribed fingers crossed for the giveaways Ohtani thank you.
Love that gold prizm auto mikal bridges🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 btw i want to ask how you think abt wemby investment should i sold my wemby rn or wait cause i think he will win roty and i got wemby nba hoops presentasion
I would sell asap, maybe long term in a few years you can buy him up but right now the nba stuff is starting to come out so when he gets better stuff such as optic/select/prizm the hoops cards will drop drastically
Question: are you paying tax on these? Because you are buying these, if you don’t have a receipt, the cost basis legally must be declared as $0. This would mean you have to pay 20% of the sale in tax. If you are, how do you manage it, spreadsheet?
Hey great question! I am not a tax expert but yes I have actually designed my own app that serves the purpose of a spreadsheet! I can do an in depth video of the app and or a spreadsheet if you want! I do have to pay taxes on all profit.
My “ receipts” are the PayPal/venmo transactions, I do not need to give proof for every purchase unless I am audited which is unlike but I am prepared to do so.
Yes but I am a lawyer and if you are showing cash in these videos and not paying sales tax this is a huge problem. Also PayPal is just a money transfer app and is not helpful for receipts. Realistically with you showing cash in some of these videos there is a 95% chance you will get audited and will have to pay even more than 20%
@@matthewscardboard a little of everything but you're not talking about collecting you're talking about flipping basketball cards which there is ZERO money in
Yeah I collect basketball only as well. In terms of flipping basketball has always had less hype/value than football. I think there is opportunity and money to be had in any sport but I see where you’re coming from!
Yo! Love the vids, genuinely a top 5 card RUclipsr to me right now. I’ve got a question, I’m starting to get more serious about cards and I was wondering if you had any advice about growing an instagram account. I make a lot deals on Facebook but Instagram is obviously ideal. My TikTok has grown relatively easily without much effort put in yet. But Instagram ain’t doing much, any advice? Thanks keep it up
Thanks so much!! I have had to grow 2 instagrams (my first got hacked lol) and the biggest thing I would recommend is follow everyone. Try to get people who know you on Facebook to follow you there. Truthfully it is very hard to naturally grow on Instagram. I would also say when you are posting a sale on your story it’s important to tag people who repost them for free. Just type in some variation of “story repost” or “card story sales” and they should pop up. Please reach out on my instagram (same username) with any questions and so I can follow you aswell!

I agree with everything you said 100%, let’s say lesson learned. Thanks for the advice my friend!

Thank you so much I truly appreciate it! Lmk if there is any questions or things you’d like to see in a video!!

What would you say about like a kobe rc thats I’m down on about 1k, do you think I should cut my losses or hold till it maybe goes back up

My favorite was definitely the Jerry West /50! Sick cards
Thanks!
It's important to take a loss, thank you for sharing your insight and experience
Of course thank you!
Good video. Nice Jerry card
Thanks!
Love the lebron optic gold 🔥
great video man
Appreciate it!
Nice video man I enjoy watching these investment videos I have a question though if a card comped at 200 what would you buy it at or sell it at
Thank you! If a card comps for 200 I would aim to pay under 160, ideally closer to 150. That way if you sell it on eBay you could net around 173 and make 15ish on it!
Sounds good I’ve got this card on eBay for 190 and people are trying to pay 150 on eBay so wanted to make sure I wasn’t over valuing it
@@matthewscardboardwhat would you pay on a card/lot of graded cards for $50?
For lower end stuff paying 80% is tuff becuase you have to pay shipping for each card when selling. I would try to pay 30-35.
Damn tuff on that Mikal 😂
Great videos love the pace you explain things so clearly. Mine nomination for best card so far is the Duncan and Parker swatch card. I’ve liked and subscribed fingers crossed for the giveaways Ohtani thank you.
Thank you my friend! Winner in the next video
nice Lebron and Harper golds

Yes but my question is that if you do not have receipts then are you prepared to legally label your cost basis as $0
My “ receipts” are the PayPal/venmo transactions, I do not need to give proof for every purchase unless I am audited which is unlike but I am prepared to do so.

For any card you don’t have receipt for it’s automatically over 20% because sales in cards are considered income, not capital gain
The the brightest tool in the shed
My favorite card was the Bryce Harper /50 Psa 10
Why did you pay that? 😂 Did you check if it sold? That is absolutely nuts.
Yeah hindsight is 20/20, in the video I do go through the comps, I took a risk and it didn’t pay off unfortunately
The mikal bridges was nice but sad you had to take such a big loss on it
Yeah he is so underrated!!
@matthewscardboard1464 what's your ebay
Ig.matthewscardboard
I wouldn’t buy sticker autos
Plenty of people do thou…it’s the only way you’ll get many in the Market today.
Lesson: Dont buy Optic autos that aren't Rated Rookies
For real, the hobby has sets that they like and other ones just don’t compare
10 years from now, $2 each?
Maybe….
